I’m thankful they use this host after all these years It Brings me joy to hear that voice in car videos ❤️ My car ran 14.4 your doing something wrong motor week
People will say it's underpowered but however that's the price range. It's an affordable sports car. If you wanted the mx5 to hit 60 in 5.1 second the cost would obviously be high. The performance of this car is right in its class you want 0-60 in 4.5 seconds hope you have money for a Camaro. Not to mention mx5 0-60 in 6.3 seconds motorweek .come on we know it's not true .try 7.9 around there
That's why it's nice to have options.. I don't understand why it's so difficult for Japan to have different strokes for different folks.. Germany and America offer great variety. Ford and Chevy offer their sporting cars in mild to extra hot.. BMW, Mercedes, VW also offer various levels of heat in their cars... But Mazda, Toyota. NOPE!!! You only get mild, that's it.. GT86 in mild, MX5 in mild... They offered the MazdaSpeed MX5 briefly, but only briefly. There needs to be a new MazdaSpeed Miata dammit! And a BRZ/86 with the WRX motor too!
I had a 2016 Miata Club. Limited slip and summer tires made a massive difference in the roadster version. While other ND'S were doing mid-low 15's in the Quarter mile with very squeely starts, I was keeping up and beating the V8 Mopars (R/T Chargers and Challengers of course). As cool as the Miata RF looks, it goes the wrong direction. Should have just let Fiat have this design... Sadly, they will sell.
Thanks for not calling it a toy or weekend car. Its a sports / performance car. Ford has the mustang, Chevrolet has the Camaro. Mazda has the MX5. Its not quite the same as those other cars but in Mazdas line up its the only thing comparable to them and its meant to be what Mazda considers a sports / performance car.
It might be pushing 155 horsepower at the wheels, it's got to be pushing damn near 200 at the flywheel, I have an MX3 GS with a klze engine swap, weighs 2600 pounds and has 200 horsepower, does 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds. So it has a similar power output to the Miata. That little 2.0 is definitely pushing more than 155 horsepower, probably a little FIB on the company's part for insurance benefit for the customer. Clever.
I respect the Miata, but I don’t respect this variant of the ND, because it’s too overrated, too luxury-minded, and the lack of headroom pisses me off. Plus, this makes people forget about the original hardtop Miatas, during the NB generation. I just wish, Mazda made more simplistic designs and more exciting (i.e. powerful with/or without Rotaries) cars, for their old-school simple-minded enthusiasts. Until then, Mazda is dead to me, as a automaker; just some dumb luxury-focused lifestyle brand, just like Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, but at least they’re cheaper than the Italians.
Agreed. Standard ragtop looks better, and is more reasonably priced, and does'nt have all that extra weight high up on the chassis. Unnecessary added complication.
The side profile reminds me of the old Opel GT from the 70s.
Yes, and that was expensive at the time ($3,400).
The Miata's adorable design made fall in love with it :)

Love the way they worked/integrated the top.
I think it looks _highly_ attractive. I'd love to see a model from Fiat as well.
Such a beauty, very unique and excellent for the price!
Claire Kennedy beautiful and into cars? I think im in love! Lol
I like the "smiling" look on this Miata.
my god I haven't watched MW for 30 years!! Lovin' it!
This car is actually really fast. That’s better than most cars out there for realistic buys
I love Mazda's overall design of the recent years. Just find the headlights to small and squinty on the latest MX5.
I got one and i love it. Put on 10,000km in just 8 months. Now Mazda just needs a new RX7.
I'd pay MSRP sight unseen for a 2019 FD
miata just Beautiful
These are so fun. It's a affordable sports car, but you can make it what you want, at a good price..
damn the power when u look this gorgeous
Miata did not chose to not call it a Targa. Porsche owns the rights to "Targa"!
Yep. Mazda can't call it targa for that reason.
Motor week is stuck in Price is right era
The narrator does make me feel like I'm watching a 90s car review....
That’s a good thing. As the new price is right blows and is garbage
Nothing wrong with that it’s classic
@@IsaacWatson Hes from the 80s and 90s lol it’s the same guy
It’s a great little car reminiscent of the Toyota 2000 GT in the James Bond movie?
Yeah I thought this car reminded me of a Bond car too. Definitely could be if he was in Japan "blending in."
I'll only ever get a hardtop convertible. Knife wielding murderers always stab through ragtops in slasher films.
roof version has that 80s feeling
u look good in that Miata john

155hp makes me wonder why Mazda tries so hard to produce such a weak 4 cylinder.
MrPicky400 It's 7.1 to 7.5
That's why it's nice to have options.. I don't understand why it's so difficult for Japan to have different strokes for different folks.. Germany and America offer great variety. James N thanks
Brad Nimbus I agree I really wish was about 200 hp but however 155 HP still keep up with rival and I guess that's all Mazda cared and I don't know why

Why not a targa top minus the fancy mechanism? Thoughts?

Eric Beltrami 7.1 seconds*
Gearing is also a factor. Tops out 57mph in 2nd gear. The 2019 + revs to 7500rpm and is faster
reminds me of the opel gt from the late 60's, early 70's I really like it but still prefer the rag top
the classic drop top makes it easier to wave at babes
Jon Davis still with the bad puns
I don’t understand why Motorweek doesn’t do their road tests with automatic transmissions; most Americans drive automatics!
Spend our money on performance upgrades...
Europe: *Hold my certificate of conformity*
😞
Wish this was a true coupe instead like the ultra rare JDM NB coupe
it's my best car
Everything looks good, except those tires. Is it just me or do they look skinny?
Von Sterner I agree, they definitely too skinny
Its a careful design decision on Mazda's part. Heavier tires would adversely affect its handling. :)
They could’ve called it a Targa, but then Porsche would’ve sued
Lol its all about that power to weight ratio, people. Dont be a dummy. Yes, MATH IS RELATED TO SCIENCE!
Miata targa sounds better .
Tom Hertz porsche trademarked
put a v8 mazda come on make it fast like a gt500 or like the hellcat or zl1
Love it; make mine an automatic.....

I hard a hardtop NB, and it was too much of a PITA. Just left it on. Plus visibility with the soft-top was atrocious (is the RF any better??)
Sorry. Disagree. A bit ugly. And I don't care for the black inserts. Design failure.
Agreed. Standard ragtop looks better, and is more reasonably priced, and does'nt have all that extra weight high up on the chassis. Unnecessary added complication.
Lol dude what are you on about, its line is one of the purest expressions of a classic coupe I have seen.
