- This video was filmed over two days and includes the returning Yorkshire Coast Statesman. The plan was to capture the ECS from Carnforth to Burton on the Saturday at Barrow-Upon-Trent. However, as the train arrived early at Stenson Junction there was an opportunity for a second shot at North Staffordshire Junction. But not everything went to plan as you will see. On the second day the plan was to get a Burton-Stratford shot and then the return. The outward run was good from a city backdrop point of view but spoilt by an adverse signal. However all was to change on the return with some sensational sounds from the Jubilee. Normally I would recommend full volume but the sound is absolutely deafening. I hope you enjoy the video.
What a roller-coaster, John! I was so pleased you had the second camera set up at Willington. Galatea put on a stunning performance for the return and your captures are brilliant! Kind regards, Bob.
Very beautiful shots. Amazing work.
Superb video John , not much of a better sound than a Jubilee in full cry .
Nice oil train bowlage. Still, you got a nice shot of a class 60 in the sun. :P
I love the doubleheaded 47s in the going away shot in the evening sun.
Nice double 47s on the Northern Belle as a bonus.
Another super video John, thumbs up :)
As always John, your choice of locations are superb, resulting in some amazing footage of Galatea. I felt for you when you were 'Bowled' by that oil train that seemed to go on for ever...Regards...Bob
Yes the sound of Galatea at Danzey was deafening, I was at the top of the hill opposite Danzey Station (not as close as you were but still a right old racket) and that was what I heard when setting up; it came 6 minutes early so caught me off guard. Great video, you must have enjoyed yourself.
Wow, a record would be pretty impressive!! Given the sound he probably was though...
Some great shots there John , Galatea a great loco as seen recently on the S&C making a great sound , looks a lot better weather down there , cheers Steve B .
You’ve been very busy John, very good viewing. Regards Mike.
Smashing set of filmlets, John. You must have had a wonderful day!
You've captured some great shots there John, Galatea seems like a well set up loco. I bet you were glad of the second viewpoint when the 60 hove into view! Cheers, Rob
The one dislike kid strikes again! Sad little sod or what. He'll be out there now licking a class 66 no doubt.
Fantastic video as always and a great display of the power of steam.
MJP,former diesel driver of 25 years.
Fantastic video, with great scene selection and editing. That was a beautiful train. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Hi John, two days well spent with excellent shots. Regards Chris
Excellent video mate, ( even the bowlage by the tanks ). I didnt realise it was you at Kinsbury Jn, good to put a face to a name :)
Hi John, Super filming ,Great stuff...Dave
@@GreatBritishRailways1 Hi John, Great filming,Thanks for reply ..Dave
Great video John, I love Galatea.
Superb video John and some fine locations. Regards, Jeff.
That tank train chose an unfortunate place to stop.
That's some interestingly kinky track at Kingsbury Branch Junction.
Super video John, great sound from Galatea. Quite amazing to see how this loco performs when you consider the condition she was in
I’ve captured it at earlswood station John and Galatea is the second jubilee to visit Stratford Upon Avon after jubilee Bahamas
dont forget kholaphur from tyseley
A most intriguing video did you have someone assisting you or was it the use of more than one camera? liked the inclusion of the "modern" railtour and the finale was great a steam video with a "different" feel and I like it!!
Thanks for the reply John and for the information re. the making of the clip So the Class 60 didn't bowl Galatea after all! I also liked the shot at Birmingham that Galatea was being checked by signals didn't matter it's all right to have shots like that from time to time and I didn't mind the Class 172 either!! And of course the pyrotechnics at the end made it all worth while! so thanks again!
Thanks for the heart!! PS have you seen 981smithy's clip "Britannia chases Galatea up Shap"? It's a MUST!!!
paul from sharposworld has captured that engine whilst inside that dmu seen here on the left overtaking it
yes he does john
This train is like the Hogwarts Express
john wonderful video well laid plans do not always work, would have been ok had the 60 not been slowing, also can I ask why no diesel on the back of the steam special as most have them on the tail?
Soperbly shot video ,but the loco'although it wears BR maroon well should be in BR green with the cabside flash as it finished it's service with and as i last saw her in Barry yard
Great job like enjoyed
