Your Kap-ow is looking really healthy. I have one seedling Chilean guava in my raised bed but it's totally shaded out by my Nikitas Gift, it's in poor condition due to a lack of light and water. I need to pull it out and stick it in a pot.
You might be right Dom, however they are generally thought to thrive in cool, shady areas ( my parent’s specimen is doing fine ) and they’ve failed for me in pots ( except one flambeau that is still alive ) so maybe the soil it’s planted in doesn’t suit it ?
This is the first year I’ve had kapow flower for me Peter ( maybe 2 flowers last year ) son I’m hoping to finally get some fruit and see if they are bigger and better than other cultivars 🤞
@@lyonheart84 oh really? For some reason, I thought you had them flower for you before. I managed to get 1 or 2 last year, but I don’t think they were at peak ripeness. But I preferred them to the other ones I tried. And they were larger too.
@PeterEntwistle think I had one kapow berry the year I got the first plant then it was killed back to the ground in the December 22 freeze and didn’t flower last year. I got the 2nd one last year and of course it didn’t flower so this is the first year both have flowered. I’ve only had fruits off flambeau before and they of course also died in the freeze 🙄
Mine is in a pot but i might put it into the ground because i like the fruit of this plant i think it has a hint of strawberry i cant remember it been awhile since i have tried the fruit 😁
To be honest Barry although I’ve got a variegated one still alive in a pot they’ve actually done really badly for me in pots, that’s why I found a bit of space to get these into the ground, I’m sure they will fruit way better

They are pretty little flowers. I noticed a couple on my KA-POW the other day. Only 3 or 4 though, so don’t know if I’ll get any fruit this year lol 😂
