    So glad to see that your White Sapote is making a comeback after transplant shock. They seem to be pretty resilient trees.

      Thanks Joe I’m very grateful as I was very worried to have an evergreen tropical drop every leaf in summer, in winter it’s half expected lol

    It’s great to see your White Sapote recover so well, Brett .. I totally get how disappointed you must have felt to see it defoliate after an up-pot.
    Fortunately, these are amazing plants with an incredible ability to bounce back. All those new shoots your plant is pushing is very encouraging.

      Yes I’m around 3 or 4 weeks it should be looking great again thankfully. I was amazed how quickly it went downhill and how quickly it’s coming back, bizarre

    Oh wow, sorry to see it like that, Brett. I know you mentioned it, but I didn't realise how bad it was 😱. It is very encouraging to see all those new shoots starting to push though!
    I've also had a bit of a disaster with one of my seedling white sapotes, either a slug or a snail has eaten it alive in the greenhouse 🙄. It's now just a tiny thin stick with no leaves or terminal bud. I hope it will be able to push out from one of the nodes 🤞

      Gastropods love. White Sapote leaves. I’ve brought my seedlings indoor to recover after those little blighters stripped them naked. I think the only way to protect them is to keep them high up , off the ground so they’re unable to reach them.

      Lol yes I wasn’t exaggerating when I said it had gone hideously downhill within a week of repotting. I was flabbergasted as every leaf turned yellow and fell off 😂. But I’m also just as amazed as it’s sending new shoots out all over the place. I think my little seedlings are still alive in the summerhouse although one of them has wilted, I assume a root issue

      @MoebiusUK lol yes they do love the young leaves on the seedlings but I’ve also seen them munch on the bark 🙄

      @@MoebiusUK Yeah, it was on the ground, but I've moved it onto a shelf (still in the greenhouse). Luckily the 2 larger ones still look ok and I have a few more starting to germinate indoors. I also threw a load of slug pellets in the greenhouse for good measure lol 😂

    Something different in the new potting mix?

    • @lyonheart84
      @lyonheart84  3 місяці тому +2

      @@TropicalGardeningCyprus don’t think so as I didn’t even break up the old root ball, I simply moved it to the new pot with extra compost. I’m thinking maybe the heavy watering I gave it then we had a long cold spell so it was just shock ?

      @@lyonheart84 it could be. I've seen many strange things happen when changing pots or just even moving pots. But I didn't expect white sapote to be so sensitive about it.

      @TropicalGardeningCyprus I can’t even remember what the original mix was exactly or what the new one was 😂. I’m sure it was the cold weather, didn’t go above 18c for the first 3 weeks of June ! It’s only 18c today, that’s around 5c below the daily average for July 🙄
