I loved going to laundry, it was always warm and had a nice smell slightly steamy. And lace or crochet doilies were stretched by hand on the boards to dry, so much work went into it. We at home had to sprinkle water on the sheets first and fold it in the basket so that it ironed well😊
Hi Trev, yes that's the one. Your memory ain't that bad mate... You do deserve it with all the interesting vlogs you have done over the years. You and Pat have kept us entertained every night whilst having our evening meal. Keep the content coming, you are an interesting man... All the very best, Gary
I was always amazed how dry-cleaners were able to return suits and dresses back to the right people. They used to stick a ticket to the garment with part of the ticket given to the person lodging the garments. You'd have to show the tickets so you could collect your property later. I had a couple of ladies that did my washing and ironing when I lived at a boarding house, (or motel, or hotel), while I was on the relief staff, that used to return everything. Amazing. Laundries here have capabilities of washing linen for all types of businesses, hotel/motel, hospitals, and dining room table cloths and associated linen pieces. They employ a lot of people with disabilities that do a wonderful job. I think linen is tattooed with a numbering or lettering system. It's a pity you destroyed some art pieces. If you have pictures on slides, there are devices where you can copy them to digital format so you can view memories on a computer. I started to process my slides but have to finish off copying them, one of these rainy days. It's always interesting looking back. Memories. Good to see Ernie, he wasn't very active yet, too cool perhaps? Have a great day. See you next time..
I worked at my dad's laundry a few times when I was young and I had to charge each customer the correct amount of money and at the end of the week my figures had to match the office figures or I would have to make up the shortfall out of my wages. Where would I have stored my paintings Barry, you couldn't roll or fold them up or they would sweat, some of them were nine feet square, and we kept downsizing.
Hi Trev, many thanks for doing a vlog for my request about your early paintings. Such a shame you had to throw them away... Bet you were destroyed at the time having to give all that hard work up?... Take care and thanks again, Gary. By the way I'm the one from Wigan that sent you that parcel of gifts wrapped in brown paper about a year ago, remember?... 🤔
Hi Garry. I don't remember anything mate, I just get everyone mixed up with everyone else. Did it have a little pocket notebook in the parcel? We don't deserve your generosity Gary, if I remember rightly you put £20 in the lovely card.
All this AI, we are slowly being controlled by robots!! I seem to remember my mum sending the bed sheets to the laundry, all the sheets had a number written in ink in the corners!! They were sent in a laundry box with her laundry number on it. The box was like strong cardboard with a lid that went right over the box and was fastened with a leather strap! You brought that back to me today!! Have a safe journey tomorrow both of you! bye!!!
That little tag in the corner of each sheet made sure that sheet came back to your mum after being mixed up with thousands of other sheets, and not a computer in sight Mary.
Unfortunately it has become to easy for dishonest people to pirate other peoples information and content. It’s actually sad how many people get ID stolen. I’ve seen reports where it’s almost ruin some people finically and reputation. Take care.
Lazy people who can't be bothered to create themselves will be able to use AI to copy others hard work and make a lot of money. Doesn't that philosophy fit well in this age we live in? I think it does Debbie.

Now there's the voice of experience speaking.
It’s quite frightening what people can do now. Lovely hearing about your paintings. Safe journey tomorrow 🌺🍀🫶⭐️
Yes Karen, I sometimes feel like a stranger on the earth that knows so little of what is going on in it.

Times they are a changing. Have a good trip away.
Thank you Sandra, so we better get swimming, or we'll sink like a stone.
