The lid-carrot absolutely can be beneficial. Some kettles/pots can be difficult to find a position where the lit won't slide back on or completely fall off. By just partially lifting the lid, all condensation will remain inside. If you lift it to the side, some condensation will drip down outside. If you don't consider that as a problem, good for you; if you do, the carrot could possibly sole it.

I actually have the one that you showed using with an onion, the big one that you press down and it goes into a tray, and it works really well if the thing you're cutting isn't much thicker than the thickness of the blades. For the shredder/chopper things at the end. ..... Knives work by allowing you to use the little bit of force your body can produce and focusing all of it on a very small spot (the edge of the blade). Obviously needles or stabby stuff do better because they are focusing the power into an even smaller spot (tip). So I can just see the people inventing this. "Let's _increase_ the size of the blade touching the item we're cutting! What could _possibly_ go wrong!?" Thus voiding the whole advantage of knives in the first place.
Thank you Alice for talking directly to us fans of yours. You have beautiful hair, and lots of it! How does it all fit into a hair net and under a chef's hat? You could do a video about gathering your hair. Amazing.
You're very cute and I appreciate your honest opinion on gadgets. Showing us the unicorn brought genuine joy to you which brought me joy seeing you so happy. Keep up the good work!
That was fun to watch! I enjoyed your spontaneity in going over the material. Personally, I do like the chopper thing at the end, it works better with thinner pieces, and it is a bit of a pain to clean, but if you need to do a large amount of fine dicing quickly, it can save time. Your comment about the use of the jar-opening thing is actually what a lot of products like that are for, they were actually designed as accommodations and aids for people with some form of disability or mobility issue. They are marketed more generally by the companies wanting to make money, but general use was not their original design or purpose.
Ok question I've been thinking about for a while. If you're allergic to eggs, what do you use as an egg substitute when baking? I've been looking into different egg substitutes but have never tried any yet and want others' opinions on what they use.
It depends on what you are making. Or have on hand. Flax seed "eggs" are used for a lot of baking. Sometimes I use applesauce or a banana - or in the car of brownies, I replace both the eggs and oil with applesauce as most other substitutions really much up brownies. Tofu can be used. Chia seeds work for some things. There are also a couple of commercial egg replacers such as the one from Bob's Red Mill. And there are also cakes that don't require egg to begin with, like the one usually called Wacky cake, which uses baking dose and vinegar as the leavening agents.
This video was so relaxing to watch! You seem so gentle, chill and down to earth. You have a gift for 'keeping people company' virtually. Thanks for sharing your heart, gifts and time with us! Love from Canada.
Really fun video! OXO Good Grips has an even better bar opener. It doesn’t limit you to specific sizes and it has a non-slip pad you can put the jar on for greater stability.
I've had one of those egg pans for years. Mine was sold as being for frying eggs. I find the best way to get an egg nicely fried in it is to put it over the small burner turned down as low as possible and melt a little butter in it and then, when the egg is in the pan, put a lid over it. I then time it by making toast, it's ready just before the toast is. (I'm aiming at getting all the white set but still leaving the yolk somewhat liquid.) Those onion-cutting devices haven't made it to Australia. I hope it stays that way. Thank you for "taking one for the team" and letting us know about those gadgets.
As a fellow Aussie, I hate to break it to you, but the vegetable dicers have been here for _years,_ and are often part of mandolin slicer multi-tool sets. They work much better with thinner chunks though. Alice was trying to make them cut through too much. So, while yes, you do still need to do a bit more knife work than demonstrated here, it can be easier overall for many people. I _would,_ however, recommend getting non-slip versions, because they certainly can be dangerous.
That to for making cake pops is essentially a meatball maker. The copper is lovely. I have one that I adore but you need to halve the veg and small the lid very hard. I mean ac whopping good small! My left hand is compromised severely due to strokes so to not have to do with a knife is so much safer for me.
I've been watching your shorts off and on for some time but stumbled upon your full length videos this morning and you have a new subscriber! Your sense of humor and comedic timing is fantastic.

I was taught to cook/bake by my grandma and she taught me everything without gadgets. But i have one of those weighing spoons and let me tell you, it's my favourite thing. Love it.
Here is a method to boil eggs: Boil a pot of water, then add the eggs. When the water comes back to a boil, shut off the heat and put a lid on the pot. Wait 15-18 minutes depending on how well-done you want the yolk. Make sure you have a big bowl of water with many ice cubes in it. Move the eggs quickly from the hot water to the ice bath. (This makes them easier to peel.) There are a few different methods to boil eggs. This is just one of them.
I’ve done boiled hard cooked eggs for years like this when I learned it ma y years ago! It makes perfectly hard boiled eggs without overcooking (and getting that green line around the yolk)!
Hi, the shredder, it is intended that you cut the veg in half, so that there is a flat surface, put the flat (cut surface on the cutter) It also has a waffle style blade, like the one you used on potato, which allows crinkle cut chips/crisps
I've used both of those veggie slicers before, and while they do take a bit of practice to use properly, they actually are very useful. Generally, you want a hard, quick press, which leads to the blades slicing all the way through. Of course the ones I used were more expensive ones, and those look a bit cheap, so that's probably an issue as well.
This was the sweetest video I've seen all week. You are charming and a laughed at least twice so hard that something flew out onto the screen. You very smoothly went from a t star scale to a 10 star scale. Sneaky girl!
Tiny frying pan is great, often use outs for frying sage, or spices etc for slow cooked meals. As for chopping onions, if you wanna do it quickly use something like the oxo good grips chopper, the one where you push down a few times and itll cut. It means making it small enough to fit under the device, but can press twice for chopped, or more for diced, saves a fair bit if doing things on mass... if not just use a knife, its easier to wash and a good knife will last for ages.
I have a tiny one-egg sized pan and I use it every day. It is perfect for making an egg for a breakfast sandwich - and most of the time I don't even break the yolk when flipping it.
The cake-pop thing might be useful if a cake gets disfigured, but is still perfectly edible, so you turn it into cake pops, slather them in icing, and make the best of the situation.
I love my small egg pan also for purposes of roasting a small batch of seeds for a salad or a quick roasted onion. It's just so perfect for these small little things you don't wanna use your huge pans for.
I have a tip for doing Hard boiled eggs (or soft boiling them too really -easy to adapt this one!): Put the water on to boil FIRST, once it's fully rolling boiling (BIG bubbles all the time), add the eggs, one at a time, and once the water starts to boil again (should be almost immediately) start a timer. For a HARD boil, 7 minutes at a boil, then turn the water off and let them cook (off the hot burner, but still in the very hot water) another 5. Then just dump the water, or fish them out if you need to make more eggs, and rinse the newly boiled eggs in COLD water - or put them in an ice bath to stop them overcooking (that's where the nasty green comes from - yuck). For SOFT boiled eggs, same process, just do a three minute boil, 5 minutes in the hot water, and rinse in cold water is optional. Medium boil (the yolks are mostly cooked, but still a bit soft in the very center), 5 and 5 minutes, the the ice bath or cold water.
Funny timing: my sister just shared the temperature-shock method (straight into already-boiling water, then into ICEwater when done) re. Thanksgiving deviled eggs. She says it makes the membranes release for easier peeling.
Aww! Unicorn sprinke shaker!!! I NEEEED one of those!!!! Edit: The holes should've been on the horn instead of the back. It would be more natural to have sprinkles coming out the horn.
The sealer... some are superior to others. I've had about 5 until I found a good one. Mine is usb rechargeable and has an on and off switch. I use it all the time. That jar opener has been a life saver for both my elderly father and myself, who has very bad carpal tunnel. My father uses thar hard boil egg gadget almost daily. It was really helpful as he aged and still wanted to cook but struggled. The chopper works really well once you get the hang of it. If you put the thick layer of onion on the bottom it helps. It is great when making big salads or preparing a lot of diced vegetables.
That unicorn sprinkle shaker *is* useful! It only dispenses a very small amount of sprinkles at a time. With a hungry child, they will be so excited to eat that they'll be happy with their small amount of sprinkles. So it reduces their sprinkle intake. Those bottle cap covers (there are also can ones) won't hold carbonation in. But they're great for keeping bugs out of your drink outside in summer. In the US, where we don't care about the planet I guess, so the lids can get lost. I find silicone wine "corks" to be much more useful. Teeny tiny pans like that for eggs are great for people who want to make their own breakfast sandwiches. The eggs come out just the right size, and round. But that can also be achieved in a 2-cup round pyrex in the microwave. Those vegetable choppers that have a hinge are all terrible. They do make ones, usually marketed as a french fry cutter, that are stainless steel and the pushing part slides on two posts so that it goes in a straight line. The handle is usually (but not always) hinged in a way that allows you to apply a lot more pressure than you'd be able to without using physics. And they're amazing. But they don't produce crinkle cut fries, just regular. I became familiar working at a restaurant that sold *a lot* of salad, so we had one that sat on top of a food safe 30 gallon "trash" can that did whole heads of lettuce at a time. I still have the tiny potato size one that is mounted horizontally on my wishlist, but I have to imagine that they work as well as the lettuce one did. It was incredibly easy to slam through a whole head of iceberg lettuce with the handle design. Last, and certainly not least, your joy is so infectious. I love how excited you get for simple things. It makes me feel better about being the same way.

So excited for long form content from you, Alice!! 💛 your hair looks so cute btw
Those were about the most beautiful cupcakes, inside and out, that I have ever seen, and I mourned their destruction as well as she did. I saw in one of her shorts that some people were doubting her baking skills - those people should bow down in awe of those cupcakes.
The chaotic energy in this video is addicting and plainly adorable. Keep up the longer videos! xD
I love your voice so much!!! Would love if you try out softspoken asmr someday, the sounds of baking combined with your voice would be perfection.
Yes! More long-form videos, please.
Thank you Alice for talking directly to us fans of yours. You have beautiful hair, and lots of it! How does it all fit into a hair net and under a chef's hat? You could do a video about gathering your hair. Amazing.
God I absolutely adore how you speak , englisg is not my mother tongue but I understand 100% of your speech which inspires me a lot, thank you!
You're very cute and I appreciate your honest opinion on gadgets. Showing us the unicorn brought genuine joy to you which brought me joy seeing you so happy. Keep up the good work!
2 points, love the chefs hat, your Nord intro and explanation is about the best plug i have seen on You tube
Delightful as always! Love your shorts, it’s neat to see some longer form stuff from you!
I love that you made a longer video! Love listening to your voice, it's so clear!
This video was so relaxing to watch! You seem so gentle, chill and down to earth. You have a gift for 'keeping people company' virtually. Thanks for sharing your heart, gifts and time with us! Love from Canada.
We have similar hair type and I’ve always wondered how you get your curls so neat! If you ever feel like it please give your routine !💚🌄
The pause before you make your rating explicit speaks volumes by itself. I truly appreciate your delivery.
Really fun video!
OXO Good Grips has an even better bar opener. It doesn’t limit you to specific sizes and it has a non-slip pad you can put the jar on for greater stability.
Most handy for us older folks
I've had one of those egg pans for years. Mine was sold as being for frying eggs. I find the best way to get an egg nicely fried in it is to put it over the small burner turned down as low as possible and melt a little butter in it and then, when the egg is in the pan, put a lid over it. I then time it by making toast, it's ready just before the toast is. (I'm aiming at getting all the white set but still leaving the yolk somewhat liquid.)
Those onion-cutting devices haven't made it to Australia.
2:17 "Can you guess what this is yet?"
"I'm ready!"
This is my favorite channel! ❤ I so appreciate the real, quirky, lovely lady who created/hosts such a purely personal, funny look at her life. 😊
That to for making cake pops is essentially a meatball maker. The copper is lovely. I have one that I adore but you need to halve the veg and small the lid very hard. I mean ac whopping good small! My left hand is compromised severely due to strokes so to not have to do with a knife is so much safer for me.
Love the curly hairstyle
I've been watching your shorts off and on for some time but stumbled upon your full length videos this morning and you have a new subscriber! Your sense of humor and comedic timing is fantastic.
I loved the little carrot!🥕🥕🥕 Love your hair too!
The carrot was my fave, whenever I leave the lid slightly off it nearly always slips back on.
7:36 And you can rotate the potatoes 90 degrees with each slice to make cross-cut (waffle) fries.
I've long loved your shorts and now I'm hooked on your long pieces too. It's also great to see your subscriber & viewer numbers. You deserve the success.
Am I the only one very disappointed that the Unicorn has the holes in his back instead of shitting out sprinkles 😅
ur videos are so fun to watch!!! I love how real it is!
I was taught to cook/bake by my grandma and she taught me everything without gadgets. But i have one of those weighing spoons and let me tell you, it's my favourite thing. Love it.
Obligatory "WaIt, YoUr HaIr IsN't PiNk?!"
Please do more of these 🙏Loved every second of it!
Here is a method to boil eggs:
Boil a pot of water, then add the eggs. When the water comes back to a boil, shut off the heat and put a lid on the pot. Wait 15-18 minutes depending on how well-done you want the yolk.
Make sure you have a big bowl of water with many ice cubes in it. Move the eggs quickly from the hot water to the ice bath. (This makes them easier to peel.)
There are a few different methods to boil eggs. This is just one of them.
I’ve done boiled hard cooked eggs for years like this when I learned it ma y years ago! It makes perfectly hard boiled eggs without overcooking (and getting that green line around the yolk)!
Hi, the shredder, it is intended that you cut the veg in half, so that there is a flat surface, put the flat (cut surface on the cutter)
It also has a waffle style blade, like the one you used on potato, which allows crinkle cut chips/crisps
Love all of your videos. They really brighten my day. Keep up the good work!
You had some very strong "my cabbages!" energy there❤
I bought my first niece a little pan like that for Christmas when she was two. Her mum used it and said it was great, especially for washing up. 😊
This is the most wholesome video I've seen in a very long time, thank you.
Seeing the egg-topper made me smile, I have a similar one (the bell is dropped onto the egg) and it's ace!
This was the sweetest video I've seen all week. You are charming and a laughed at least twice so hard that something flew out onto the screen. You very smoothly went from a t star scale to a 10 star scale. Sneaky girl!
You have a delightful screen personality and a wonderful sense of humour. No wonder your videos are so popular!
Tiny frying pan is great, often use outs for frying sage, or spices etc for slow cooked meals.
As for chopping onions, if you wanna do it quickly use something like the oxo good grips chopper, the one where you push down a few times and itll cut. It means making it small enough to fit under the device, but can press twice for chopped, or more for diced, saves a fair bit if doing things on mass... if not just use a knife, its easier to wash and a good knife will last for ages.
im always coming back to this video cos it's just really funny, thanks for making these last few months easier
12:40 you could also make pancakes with this pan
I have a tiny one-egg sized pan and I use it every day. It is perfect for making an egg for a breakfast sandwich - and most of the time I don't even break the yolk when flipping it.
I like this type of presentation, talking directly to me. Thank you.
Your hair looks really nice! And thanks for sharing this and helping us get better cooking tools!
Yes! You look awesome in curly hair.
12:49 “ … we’re not gonna talk about that “ made me laugh
Nice pajama pants. Also those gloves in the end are the cutest thing ever.
You guys weren’t supposed to see them 😓
You put the Awe in awedorable..... Please keep making these fun and funny videos....
She’s so cute and her accent is to die for 🥰
Your videos always lighten up my day! Thank you!
the unicorn sprinkle shaker was so cute tho lol
That unicorn deserves a 1000x1000 out of 10!!!! 🥰 🦄
You are absolutely adorable.
Liking the shorts and the longer vids
The spongebob spong holder 😂
🤣
We don't potato shame on this channel.
I received that little egg frying pan from a friend. I actually use it to melt butter for recipes or popcorn😊
your so comforting for me
