At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

Even though when I first watched this series I didn’t like mahidevran, but the way she loves her son is absolutely unmatched, she was a very very good mother all things considered and her kid absolutely adored her
Also it’s so sad how happy she was at 15:57, she made many mistakes but she suffered for them and eventually I felt she deserved happiness of her own
I don’t know, I think she indeed loved her son but she was terrible mother. A terrible mother as a sultana. She involved her son in HER OWN problems and conflicts, which later caused her son to have problems and grew up to be a person who respected only some people. She also cried constantly in front of him, which caused him to also get involved in problems and to protect her, and that is not a task for a child. For example, hurrem tried to teach children that they should have respect for everyone who deserves it, regardless of whether hurrem liked them or not. Of course, later mihrimah also defended her, but hurrem, although she was happy because of it, she always tried to point out to her that she cannot behave like this. Mahi, on the other hand, always hide behind her son and considered him as her "weapon" against enemies.
Sometimes Hurrem really gets on my nerves with her jealousy.

Suleiman was worse , if he can't balance between his life Partner then he didn't free Mahidevran, it was the least he could do for her !

I think what mahidevran problem was she couldn't accept that there was another person in Suleiman's heart. She forgot the rules and paid for it.

Being the eldest doesn't mean he'll become the next Sultan. After Valide checked her, she should have learned her lesson. It contributed to Mustafa's downfall.
Something that I didn't like was the bad hairstyles which they did to "Mahidevran"! It was like they wanted to tone "Hürrem's" beauty more!
I think suleiman was testing himself in this scene. Trying to see if there was any love for mahi but realized there wasn’t. Not like that anymore but one that comes from her being one of the mother’s of his children
