The more times I see it, (most recently was a new restoration last night at The Cinematheque, Vancouver) the more I see every scene as PURE HEROIN Lynch. SO many moments directly reminded me of Twin Peaks, The Return. Retroactively, I guess.
This is the only part of the movie where you've entered Lynch-land...and the evening cookout, of course. Otherwise, a very atypical Lynch flick...and it's one of his best.
@@NZBigfoot Two scenes (or two shots at least) that I feel are VERY Lynch are the shot of the Grain Elevator at the beginning of the film (which gives me Eraserhead vibes because of the intense industrial sounds accompanying it) and the scene where Alvin is about to leave town where a whole pack of dogs are just let loose onto the town's street.
Lynch made this film LONG before Disney were involved in the distribution. He makes exactly the films he wants to make. So this scene is not some compromise despite what some appear to think. It's just a brilliantly dark comic moment that still allows a G rating. Lynch is not a one note singer or one trick pony.
I've always believed this scene is pretty emotional, it gives me a lot of thoughts... I don't know, do you think you could really hit 13 deers if you didn't wanted to? Some say this movie doesn't feel Lynchian, but this only scene show us that feeling, that the tone it is present, and it evolves in a different way, cause it's obviously a G movie, but it's there, getting stronger and stronger as the movie comes to an end.
sporry for asking this may seem obvious. did a videotape came out from inside the deer later? im finding a movie where that happens i guess it was lynch
This scene made the movie a David Lynch Movie
do you know the movie from david lynch where a videotape comes out from inside a deer? i guess it was david lynch
My friend said Disney execs were saying “ alright David, let’s reel it back in, we’ll let you keep this but you’re scaring the kids “
The grabber scene made it a Lynch film.

People are under a lot of stress.
"I play Public Enemy real loud!" Deer love Public Enemy apparently.
Its funny but i think i just realized this scene is a pretty apt metaphor for the road we all call life.
Should've included the followup with him eating the deer in the company of the decoys.
This movie captures Iowa beautifully, especially this scene. We’ve all been there.

The store scene with the grabber is Lynchian in my opinion along with a few smaller areas outside of the ones you mention.

The studio execs were like "Ok David, you can have one Lynchian scene and that's it."

@@darkzones3d612late reply, but are you possibly thinking of Reality, directed by Quentin Dupieux, in which a videotape comes out of a dead boar?
