Wonderful song..very haunting yet so soulful..Sylvia was genius. I'm glad I was able to find who was that voice on the Moby song. Now I can explore her music...R.I.P dearest Sylvia..thank you for touching us with your music and the impact it has made..may God rest you..✝️💐💖✨️🌟
I work under Sugarhill in 1995-1996,as an engineer producer. Here is just one of the special things I got a chance to experince with Ms Rob.Every Christmas Slyvia would buy the kids in Englewood and the kids in the Bahamas Christmas gifts. In 1995 I help her going to the stores we had a blast.Sylvia Robinson was a shrude business woman, with a heart of gold!Ms Rob thank you for everything!"Sugarhill" will always be remembered.Love you Ms Rob!
WOW!!!! CRAZY HOW ALL MUSIC IS CONNECTED BY A COMMON THREAD...... THIS IS MUSIC AT IT'S ABSOLUTE ZENITH!!!!! PEACE to UNCLE STARKS FOR LEADING ALL US HIP-HOP HEADS HERE....
The most wonderful thing is that when I was young, I willingly listened to sampling and considered it the norm. Now I listen to the original source with great pleasure and find it more satisfying. With all due respect to Moby, Duft punk etc.
I have loved and respected this woman's work since I was a little boy. I don't know where to start. . .A black woman with business savy, street smarts, elegance, musical genius, beauty, grace AND A HIP HOP PIONEER!!! For the Robinson and Vanderpool familys you know you have my deepest sympathy and I am grieving with you. This woman's nephews are like brothers to me and I know other members of this wonderful family. Where have you gone Mrs Robinson...Jesus loves and so do we...
sunday was a bright day, yesterday oh, but what is on today? a dark cloud has come into the way and is taking him away why did he leave me? why did he go? didn't I tell him how much I loved him so? Now all i'm left here to do is dream about him They sang into the darkness night long before But i know that monday won't change much at all so why should i worry? should i care? maybe i feel in my heart he'll return next year why can't i face it? am i too blind to see? i know his love could never return to me sunday you were so true to leave me so blue
I have this album on vinyl. I always thought I had a bad pressing, but it's on this too. You can hear another track in the background, as if the tape was not wiped properly. The thing is, it's not just this song, but the entire album. Given that this is from a CD (I think), it appears that the master tapes might have been corrupted. Kind of crazy.
Everything on the All Platinum, Stang and early Sugar Hill labels sounds crap; shrill, distorted, weird fades, hiss. It's awesome. They must have had the cheapest gear in their studio and engineers with no clue what they were doing. But that didn't stop them making hits and groundbreaking records. That is funk/punk attitude.
it sounds like she's saying "They sang into the darkness night oh oh oh oh oh a star will fall" but every lyric I see online has "sang into the darkness night, long before"
Just replace 'him' with 'her' and you get the idea how I miss the love of my life, who'll never return to me... because she never loved me in the first place, but I did... but she sadly never understood it

a dark cloud has come into the way
and is taking him away
why did he leave me?

I loved him so?
Now all i'm left here to do
is dream about him
They sang into the darkness night
long before
But i know that monday won't change
much at all
so why should i worry?
should i care?
maybe i feel in my heart
