ellaskins I love all your video's. I've been out of the Dj game for 8yrs and decided to get back into it. well as you can see lots have change lol. you've had helped me pick the right kind of kit I'm saving up for that xdj-RX. FOR NOW I GOT AN OLDER KIT, The vastex vci 300 to get me by. thanks mate for your video's
Thanks for the tutorials! I've just started to make some mixes for myself and some transitions have been so awkward I won't even publish them. Vocals are the hardest ones to mix. As you said you really need to know how the tune goes thoroughly
Really cool to see you use beginner controllers for your tutorials instead of CDJs! It makes the tutorial much easier to understand! On a completely unrelated note, is it common in the UK to say "anti-clockwise?" Only because in the US we say "counter-clockwise," and I always find it interesting to see the little differences in speech between us.
Yeah, not my best word-choice on that one. In general, I just meant that it's nice that he's using a controller because that's what most beginners use instead of CDJs, and all controllers at their core have the same components in relatively the same spots, whether it's a cheap Numark Mixtrack or the RX.
X DJ-RX is not a beginners controller. It costs £1150. Also its not really a controller. It plays straight from USB> It doesn't "control" any software, unless you want it to. - Just saying. Because I have this gear.
can somebody explain to me what did he do because after he talk and then come to the transition I did not see him touching the Low Bass control at all but only push the up fader up and then the transition was so smooth
Ngocson Trinh He explains the differences between smooth basses and colliding basses. If two tracks with diffrent basslines fit really well together, there is no need to cut the bass during the transition. If the basslines of the two tracks collide, it’s neccesary to cut the bass out otherwise the transition will sound off although you beatmatched the tracks perfectly.
hello, i want to buy the DDJ wego3 or 4 but i still need to learn somethings, i do not understand how i play a song and then when i wanna change the song to another one to play exact the drop! please help :D
I'd just like to point out that during the production of Dance music frequencies that aren't even there are being removed just becauce they might be hidden in there where you can't hear them as well as deleting any sort of risk of frequencies clashing. But go on, tell DJ's they don't need to use the EQ.
+ReboyGTR yeh - sorry, I actually tried to delete that comment afterwards but i couldnt. I do make music yes. I actually agree with your point, The EQ's are a very important part of mixing.
when did he say you shouldn't use eq? did you watch the video or are you just trying to sound like some pro? this was a demonstration encouraging beginners to experiment. watch a video before coming off like a clown next time.
ReboyGTR yeh i just listened again - He only says you dont need the EQ's if your bassline's switch at the same time anyway. I agree, there is no need to cut the bass on either side. If there isnt 2 basslines playing together. -- your comment does come off like u trying to sound clever.
yeh - erm, this is me doing DnB mixing - practice each day and stream on Twitch - Real Audio, A few songs are muted for copyright reasons on the site. www.twitch.tv/dawntreaderuk__/videos/highlights
really love the video but the songs i want in my mix are kinda chill, for example the song is from majestic casual. Anyone here kindly share the tips and tricks on mixing chill songs?
Tutorials for transitions ??? Seriously u need a tutorial are u people deaf or what ,that's most simple and basic thing to learn ,thats why u all end up just playing in your bedrooms all your life ... If u don't learn it yourself u never ever going to be a proper dj gosh ...
The science behind djing is truly AMAZING!!!

Keep up the good work ellaskins. More XDJ-RX tutorials showing tricks and techniques would be sick.

Cale Radaj I wouldn't call the xdj rx a beginner controller!!!

Cale Radaj that they do.

DawntreaderUK I already explained what I meant. And, uhhhhhhhhh... Yeah, it does control software, so not sure what you mean on that point.
Hey!! Thank you for spreading the knowledge !! :) Really helpful !!

Great job
You make it look it so easy
Hi, any chance you can do a beginner video on scratching on a controller please?
yeh - it would be quite hard to pin down a lesson on that because like you say - they vary quite a lot.

+DawntreaderUK he really was. maybe he should upload some videos teaching us how it's done.

cut guy y
no offence mate but i think you need to get to grips more with crossfading and mixing before offering guidance.
EllHawkes do you know how long he’s been mixing? He knows what he’s doing
What are you waffling about, the crossfader is only really used as a scratching tool now, using the channels is a far more efficient way of djin.
