🏠 This apartment is in Taipei City
❌ Prices continue to rise in Taipei with spaces getting smaller
⬆️ Some rental prices have increased 30% in 2 years
🙏🏽 Thank you to everyone for watching. Always appreciated!

I worked in Beitou and lived in Tamsui back in the early 2010's. My apartment was ~10 minutes from the MRT. My room was a bit smaller than this one, but the building had a pool and a gym. I paid $8,000 NTD/month. I have heard from friends that prices have been soaring since when I left.

mate that's so funny you said that. I'm literally viewing apartments in Tamsui area tomorrow, as they have same thing with a pool at almost half the price still... I remember 2010 also, had 2 bedroom place in Xindian 13,000..... no chance now. ...... I wonder when wages will go up 30% to keep up with the rent.......LOLS

Hey Matt, this was an interesting video. So this one is 26,000... how much would the same in New Taipei City be? This seems pretty reasonable for Taipei...

yes 26k and around additional 2.5k for parking, which could be rented out.
This size in Tamsui area (mostly the pink light rail area) would be around 18-20k, seeing that you can get 2 bedroom with pool for around 23k.
This one in question has now been rented out now and wasn’t on market for long, people like the access into downtown area for work 💯

life in taiwan.. As a expat yourself.. Do ever get bored.. I see videos of westerners who go live in Japan. To then hate it n move back home after a few months.
I understand cost of living. Work life ethics & expectations will be different.
You have son. I understand that reason to stay. For a regular dude wanting to emmigrate & live/retire. Or relocate to look for work

For sure, there are times when you get frustrated with things and even a bit isolated / homesick, but for me, I’ve always enjoyed living abroad and I’ve not been a fan of U.K. / the west for many many years. I love Asia and it’s the dream region for me.
When I need a change, I can just get a quick trip to any of the other amazing countries close by, Taiwan is amazing location for Asia travel.
As you said, I’ve got commitments and responsibilities here now but if things were different (in another life 😂), Malaysia or Philippines would be where I’d like to spend most of my time.
I originally chose Taiwan because it gives good balance of safety, cost of living and salary (if working here as teacher or coach etc).
A couple months ago the weather was bad, raining every day, so I was checking flights each morning and you could go to so many places, s korea, china, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, for super cheap rates…. So that’s certainly my go to strategy if I need a quick fix.
Food here, I can never get bored. Rice, meat and vegetable is easily available and affordable everywhere. Love it.
      Thanks for watching mate!

Tiny apartment. My place like this in South Korea and Shenzhen was $400-$600, with free internet and water. Nearest subway station and 3 shopping malls were about a minute away. Our service apartment in our current place Liaoning is exactly like this, except bigger and a better view. We pay about $25 a day.

💯 Exactly mate! Taipei losing control now and I say to people, even when I was in Shanghai close to central areas, it was never like this.
Apartments in my own community have gone up 30% in last couple of years and just isn’t worth it now. I’m looking to move even further out for more ‘normal’ prices.
