Your videos are amazing and so useful boeta thank you. Yesterday I watched this video after that I was able to locate and change a temp sensor for my fan to work.
Thanx to this video I have a golf mk1 2001 old dash but injector model. I found the connectors on my thermal switch had rust due to water so I cleaned the contacts sprayed q20 and fan kicked in.
Hi PJ, I'm having an issue on my 2001 citi golf. Whenever the radiator fan comes on, the wipers automatically come on. When the radiator fan stops, the wipers also stop. I am unable to control the wipers when the radiator fan is on. However, when the radiator fan is off i can operate the wipers. I've owned this car for 10 years and have never touched the wiring. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Hello, could you plz make a video showing where the wiring of the thermo swtich goes to cause i cant find out where the wires of it comes from ro the swtich
You pulling it out to far ..which means it's too rich ....try pulling out just a bit ,and it will idle around at 1200 to 1500 rpm... It's something you can control..
What's the side effects of having the fan disconnect from the themoswitch &rewire directly to the battery which means that fan working continuously with ignition turned on & off when ignition turned off.
I enjoyed your video. Very informative. Please, when are you planning to make a video on the thermostat? If a thermostat is stuck open, will it delay the radiator temperature switch from reaching operating temperature in time thereby causing the engine to overheat? Please, I need clarity.
Hi, yes with a Thermostat stuck open.. You will also have issues of engine not getting to operating temp, cause the coolant is flowing freely through engine and radiator all the time... Once Thermostat is operating normally, meaning opening up at 87 degrees, allowing that coolant to go to radiator for cooling and then sending it back to engine,.. And yes your fan won't come on easily, cause the coolant has not reached the required temp for the thermoswitch to activate the fan... But when u are in traffic stopping and going the coolant will reach the required temp for the fan to kick in..., but it won't overheat... Once u hit a longer stretch of road the coolant will the cool down much faster, (too fast actually) , and your temp will drop too low,...so rather replace the Thermostat.
Thanks for the helpful videos PJ. I have an issue with my radiator fan not switching on anymore. My car was overheating due to a faulty radiator. I replaced the radiator with a new one and fitted the old fan and thermal switch. After this the fan did not start at all and one of the two relays situated by the battery started buzzing. I could be wrong, but it seems like when the fan is supposed to start the relay starts to buzz. Any advice on what it could be? I replaced the thermal switch with a peogeot switch as well and still does the same thing. when connecting the fan directly to the battery it turns on...
Good day!, Are you in Cape town? I replaced my switch after I bust a water pipe yesterday. My fan was initially connected directly after I had an accident and the fan wouldn't go on. After replacing the switch, it still did not switch on ,my cover for the fuse box is missing so I had to pick out each and every fuse😑 Finally found one that was broken and replaced it. I live in hope that it will go on now!

Hi Joachim Sorry for late reply.. to be honest when it comes to this issue I'm also bit in experienced. Did you recently open up the cluster and do some work on it..?
The radiator just getting hot on the top but the water at the fan swicth is still cold, I have change a fan switch and the thermostat so I am not sure what is the problem
If the bottom pipe is also cold then there's definitely something not right with the thermostat..take it out and check it ,.by putting it in hot water to see if it's opening
My fan goes on but not off, I replaced thermo fan switch and thermostat. Why is it doing that. I checked faulty wires too bit nothing wrong there. Do you know why? Many people say it is fan switch the one i use is a 85/92 temp. Just got a 95/102 Wahler but wanted to see why it happens first
I have heard about this issue yes. Not exactly sure why it happens, but could just be with the quality of the thermoswitch. Have you tried another brand.?
I'm not getting power to my wires on my radiator temp switch. Can a faulty switch cut the power??
