I have a Coolant that is already mixed with water from the store. How many litres do I put in my golf mk1 injector to fill it up?

Great video... Just wondering when you flushing the matrix where exactly is the other end of the hose etc... Also do you have a video on changing the heater matrix

In the engine bay ,The inlet and outlet pipes are right next to each other, just after the heater control valve ..and in the cabin under dashboard both these pipes are attached to the matrix . So when doing a flush ,... obviously from the engine bay side ,with both pipes detached ,just stick the hose in the inlet and you will see the water come out the outlet ..
And no,I don't have a video on changing the matrix

@@pjs-golfmk1-diy thanks. Any idea if you need to flush the whole system or drain off entire coolant in order to change out the heater matrix

Hi there Paul, Your videos have become really helpful with working on my first car (1986 Jetta mk2 CLX Automatic)Carburetor model
Ive got an issue that i just cant seem to figure out, When i change gear to Neutral and Park the rev goes up to 2000rpm and when put into drive it drops back to normal,if i adjust the carb for idle to go lower the car dies when put back into drive. Any suggestions on what could be the issue for this?

Hi..Thank you.. It could be an Airleak causing the high Rev.. Did u check for Airleak around the pipe running from the brake booster?

Hi Paul, I have followed your instructions and flushed out the system on my Mk1 Golf GTI 1983 model, I have also replaced the thermostat and the sensor switch too, refilled with new antifreeze 40 to 60%, the tempature still rises to maximum, fan cuts it at the right time and cools it down a little then it rises to maximum again please advice what the problem could be, also my heater controls has packed up all together and nothing comes on, could this be a faulty relay problem if so which relay is to be replaced, regards.

Hi Paul I got a MK1 golf, thermostat replaced when I changed the radiator switch. Do I just flush with water until there’s no more rust and then pour antifreeze? One of my mates said I should pour the antifreeze into the radiator directly.

Does the same princepals apply on a a 1.4i mp9 motor?

Hi Aiden. Yes same principles apply. Flushing radiator & heater matrix, and removing thermostat. These things are all the same on older and newer model mk1's. Thanks for your comment

    Hi Paul
Some advice please. On my way home from work driving through the suburb with stops and starts the fan will kick in after about ten minutes of driving. This doesn't happen in the morning on the way to work. Same distance and time. Also, after I come off an highway driving for a longer period, then similar stops and starts because of traffic lights the fan will kick in. It does go off after a few minutes every time though. The heat Guage needle does up go to just about half way. Not higher. Is this normal for the fan to kick in after a short journey with stops and starts? I also notice that on hot days, the fan will kick in a little earlier than normal. Thank you

. How long have you had your Thermo switch in,?... Did you try replacing it...?.. You sure you don't have a puegot switch in?

@@desmondreddy9463. Have a closer look at the thermo switch.. It may solve your issue. It may be faulty, or it can be a Peugeot switch.. The idea is just to try another switch and see if there's a change. Thanks.

Hello can I just use a radiator flush liquid to clean my pipes or it's a big no no.

    • @pjs-golfmk1-diy
      @pjs-golfmk1-diy  2 роки тому +1

      Yes
.but it depends how bad your pipes are ...if there is rust build, up in pipes then rather replace the pipe.To determine if pipes are ok, squeeze pipe and if it feels like crunchy you have some kind of rust build up.

@@pjs-golfmk1-diy thanks I found the heater pipe had some rust in it, I massaged the pipe and put a radiator flush in the water bottle n drove for 15 minutes to heat the car up...
