I learned about it through pop culture I mean everything from The Simpsons to Sesame Street have touched upon this cultural icon, so it was hard to escape. Last year I saw, "The Wiz" infectiously good music & my favorite adaptation. Soon after, I saw the original film. I don't know why but something didn't click. When I read the book all the missing pieces seem to click & it feels a more satisfying narrative for it
@the.ashfiles I think that's beautiful, I feel like art is so important. It comes to us at different times and we experience it in different ways depending on external factors that have nothing to do with the film but art can help us grow
I haven't seen the original film for a long time, but I am very much craving a revisit of Return To Oz. After discovering the International Cut of The Neverending Story - not so rah-rah-USA, save the world and the big pop song, as it is exploring the psychological impact on a young boy following the loss of his Mother - hence I have a hankering to see what's there for me in Return To Oz as an adult.
@@the.ashfiles I remember being terrified of the 'wheelers' when I watched it as a kid. Saw a clip of them recently and my brain went "NOPE!" :D Hope the weekend has treated you well :)

@@Nkanyiso_K totally fair. Might not be for everyone- but it’s my all time fave, the movie that made me want to create and imagine ✨
