I think "Freedom" live would be a great next choice. Many experts agree that listening to Band-Maid everyday is good for the soul and their smiles are contagious.
I think they are the best, most creative rock band in the world, and as you can see, they just crush it live. The Japanese bands place a big emphasis on being good live performers, and it shows. I saw them in L.A. in 2019, in a tiny place, and it was the best concert I've seen in 40 years.
You can only be enthralled with Band-Maid. The musicianship along with the FUN vibe puts them on another level above other bands. The greatest show on earth. Try FREEDOM-LIVE next for another fun performance with a kickass drum solo. Everybody shines at a Band-Maid concert. BAND-MAID is Awesome. Peace.
The group around the drummer is something they do for fun, they make faces trying to "disrupt" Akane :). Great band (my favorite band, period), thanks for the reaction, well done!
That big, big smile of yours is what it all boils down to. Going to a live concert of them is an experience you'll never forget. For them to sound that tight live shows their total commitment. That often produces seriousness. Not with Bandmaid, like you they are having the time of their lives playing for you. That makes them totally unique in my book.
They have the greatest time on stage, like they're having the time of their lives! You can tell that they are good friends off stage by how they interact. And Misa, The Bare Foot Assassin, is so quick on her pick drop when she show case's her slap and pluck mastery.
Fact: the primary goal of every japanese band is the stage. That's why they're even better live than in the studio. I met Band-Maid at a meet and greet and they're extremely tiny and delicate-looking (and adorable). But two hours later, on stage, they were bigger than life. They definitly love their audiences and communicate a lot with it, whatever the langage (Miku manage to be understood with three words of english, two of japanese and a lot of pantomime and comedy). One of the best concerts of my life.
Wolfpack has given you a lot of information about LOVEBITES, but Maidiacs around the world will give you a lot of information about BAND-MAID. Don't be fooled by their cute looks. They're real. And they are real live rock bands. By the way, psychiatrists say that watching their live shows will cure depression. Next up is a live video of "Freedom". Their friendly and unpretentious personality is also attractive.
What Bill said. I'm 70 and this band got me back into rock. I think they're the best band on the planet for this genre. at least for my tastes they are. I have bought their entire catalog as far as I know and enjoy it all. You can play any live video and not be disappointed. I don't know if you've seen RINNE yet (look at the MV on this one) but you'll see another side of them entirely. I'll stop with the recommendations because everything they do is good. The crazy thing is that I'm really a progressive rock guy these days but this band really gets me excited.
The joy these ladies show when playing live is absolutely infectious. They're having the greatest time, every time, all the time. Like, genuinely. It's impossible not to feel swept up with it when they're having that much fun!
Now you know why we Maidiacs have been telling people that this band is the most fun band to watch and listen to on this planet. How about Freedom (live) next for more fun? Have a happy Band-Maid journey, PO (P_O)🕊💕
Great reaction! You see why everybody wanted you to see them live. "Freedom" is a good choice if want to see a kick-ass drum solo (and if you wondered why they crowded around the drummer in this video, you'll find out why in "Freedom" -- it'll make you appreciate how much fun the band is having!). My recommendation is the live version of "Play": ua-cam.com/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/v-deo.html -- another audience stirring song featuring a great intro w/bassist, Misa + rhythm guitarist, Miku trading off.
Love these girls. Live is my preferred way to listen to their music. Always so much fun. And the production quality, both audio & visuals, is always perfect. There are many live versions of their songs out there. Quite a few on their own channel. As others have said, 'Freedom' would be a great choice if you want to see the happiest little drummer on the planet go to work on a kit. When the girls surround Akane on the drum stand, they are performing 'Hengao'. The art of pulling funny faces, trying to put her off. Mischievous little imps. So cool.
Speaking of live, a new online live video came out! Sadly no audience 😭. But still great! I hope they come near me in the US! I'll do whatever I can to see them! Band-Maid is almost life changing for me. So much to love!
Well, now imagine the whole thing over the complete length of about 2 hours. The joy and energy that these ladies bring to the stage is unparalleled imo. :) And I say this despite the fact that I have unfortunately never been part of the audience myself and only know their concert discs and live streams of the last 1 1/2 years. But even there they are so much better than all other bands which I have experienced so far. By now, it's my biggest dream to experience these ladies live in person one day. Two more very good live performances of the ladies, which I can only recommend to you, are the titles 'Real Existence' and 'Freedom'. Band Maid's MVs are good but they definitely shine during live performances. Was lucky enough to catch them in NYC back in 2019. They all have a fantastic stage presence. Even Akani in the back is always smiling while playing. They seem to be having fun performing which makes it fun for the audience as well. Can't wait until they come back to US.
Their live is really fun. And with perfect rhythms and melodies, beautiful smiles and mutual trust. A new song sense will be released at midnight on the 26th of Japan time and 0th on the 27th. Five members will also participate in the public watching.

In the movie kate while they are acting to play the song is in the studio version. In their channel is the official live for "Choose Me " is a good one, go check it out.
Other great lives that are on their YT channel include "Real Existence Live" from a few years back, Onset (instrumental), Play and About Us. Also "No God" although there's no crowd as it's a livestream. I prefer the MV for Manners but the duo of "Manners and Black Hole" is a great contrast for you. If you do "About Us", know that this is a beautiful ballad composed for the fans, encouraging them to hang in there during Covid times even though we couldn't get together for a live show. And turn on the subtitles for that one too. Oh, and have kleenex handy.

Ironically it is pretty common knowledge that Akane is the best funny face maker :) .

The one word that seems to always crop up when reactors check out live Band-Maid tracks is "Fun". Serioualy, can there be a better reason to get up on stage than to have fun (especially when it's as infectious as these ladies make it)?

Hey Brian Goldner, how are you still CEO of Hasbro after 13yrs when you still haven't put the BAND-MAID Monopoly game into production. Tch, bloody cheek.😒
Japanese bands are so good live because they pay their dues in small clubs and venues. You're good or you're gone. Band Maid was struggling at the time their MV "Thrill" zoomed to 2 million views in 2 weeks. First overseas concert was in Seattle, WA with their biggest audience to date, 3000!! From that they became the 2nd biggest international band out of Japan.
I am ashamed to even say I missed that concert! Could you imagine if the bands in the states couldn't hack it got cut from doing gigs at the local venues?
Babymetal are ahead of them, but what about One Ok Rock? I guess they seem more popular in Japan, but they still have significantly more subscribers than Band-Maid.
@@cepho8349 Band Maid is an international band, they have more fans in Europe and the US than Japan. They know that. They and Babymetal broke open the foreign market. @@outwest1014 I don't think you understood my comment. You said that Band-Maid are the second-biggest Japanese band internationally, when I'm not so sure about that. One Ok Rock have far more subscribers and views on yt. Now yt doesn't tell the whole story and I assume that the percentage of Japanese fans is higher, but it is still something to consider. And I think referring to Babymetal as pioneers is an exaggeration in general. There are many Japanese bands that were considerably popular with music enthusiasts before them. Fishmans, Boris, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Dir En Grey and more. Babymetal managed to reach an even wider audience, yes, but they aren't necessarily an household name in the West either.
MISA's transition from pick to slap to pick is phenomenal, you can still miss it even in super slo-mo..... like watching an F1 2.6sec pit-stop. Watch the 2018 World Domination LIVE concert from Zepp Tokyo, the sound mix is much better than this concert but they really brought the energy here.
Tucking away the pick isn't difficult, though. You just curl your index finger around it. I could do that with equal skill and swiftness in my first year of playing bass guitar, and I'm still nowhere near as good on slap bass as MISA is. I'm just glad she isn't putting the pick in her mouth. Eddie Van Halen believed that doing that with metal picks is what caused his tongue cancer.
@Antony Bellingham "I used metal picks - they're brass and copper - which I always held in my mouth, in the exact place where I got the tongue cancer. ... "I used metal picks - they're brass and copper - which I always held in my mouth, in the exact place where I got the tongue cancer. ... I mean, I was smoking and doing a lot of drugs and a lot of everything. But at the same time, my lungs are totally clear. This is just my own theory, but the doctors say it's possible."
- Eddie Van Halen, 2015
@Antony Bellingham Indeed, though it spooked me when I first read that. It makes me glad that I use nothing but plastic picks!
yea I was like, wait... did I just see that??? Then kept paying close attention to see it again.
Kinda partial to Onset live myself.
