Not only is Miku the band founder and primary publicist, she writes most of the lyrics and is part of two great duos - second vocal lines supporting Saiki, and providing a full guitar sound allowing Kanami to play her magic. A pigeon at the heart of the band.
I really, really would love to see video of Saiki and Miku singing every vocal arrangement they can think of, and then arguing about what they should use on the record. Which is my understanding of how their process works. Not only would it be fascinating, it would probably be really funny too.

I'm from the UK, and as Band-Maid haven't come to Europe for a few years I had the choice of seeing them in the US or Japan. I chose to fly to Japan to see them live. I saw four 'servings' in nine days. First one was in a tiny traditional Japanese live house - basically a tiny basement club, the crowd capacity was 350 all standing. This was last October. One of the smallest concerts I've ever been to that wasn't in a pub. Sweat dripping off the ceiling - now I know why Japanese fans take towels into the concerts! (And why towels are always on the Band-Maid merch site)! It was insane. Just over 2 hours of incredible talent and hilarious antics by these five wonderful ladies. No security and no barriers. Oh and 6 or 7 of Kanami's family were in the crowd to watch too. The fans paid them the upmost respect. They don't tour with anyone, rarely have support bands and don't do encores. You leave absolutely exhausted and elated. And they have the friendliest fan base on the planet. A long winded way to say - YES see them live as soon as you can! (Just choose a bigger venue to avoid getting soaked)!

Yeah, Band Maid is serious about putting on a show for you. They love what they do. In 2022 when they were in NYC, I think it was Miku and Kanami who took a walk in Central Park. In the distance they saw a guy wearing a Band Maid shirt and just said, "Hey, let's go say hi." That's just how they are.
Actually it was all of them in Central park. Akane pointed him out, and they all went up to greet him. They only showed Kanami and Miku up close, you can see Akane, MISA and Saiki standing back some.
That was a great tour. I was front row at the Rockville concert in Florida that year. In the documentary, I love that walk in Central Park and the encounter with the fan. Also, the concert in NY looked awesome.
@@kirkscott2 Sweet. I'm in Orlando, so Daytona isn't far. However it was gonna be my first and I wanted to see them headline, so I splurged and we flew to Atlanta that day for next day's show. From JAPAN. It is well known among fans that when Jimmy Page visited Japan in November 2016, he was so impressed with AKANE's drumming at the BAND-MAID show that he went all the way backstage to meet with her for a two-shot photo. Also, the legendary producer "Tony Visconti" (who produced David Bowie and T. Rex) offered to BAND-MAID . The song "The Doragon Cries" was recorded at his studio in New York.
Give me a few months notice next year and yeah, I'll happily meet up for a Band Maid concert ;) The fans in Japan are amazingly supportive of the Community and visitors. Hoping for a European tour within the next year or so too.
Band-Maid DID close their shows with Domination during most of their 2022 World Domination Tour stops in the US. They flipped it in 2023, and opened most shows with Domination during the Band-Maid Tenth Anniversary Tour of North America. I've always thought it made a natural opening song, especially with overseas audiences, because of the hello, hello, hello! refrain. Start the show by shouting hello at each other. :)
They're always adding extra parts to their songs so that their live performances are something special for their fans! Just the best rock band in the world! 🖤
I saw the maids earlier this year in Japan at Zepp Yokohama. We were originally going to just see Nemophila at the beginning of the trip and Babymetal at the end, but then we saw that B-M was playing in between those two shows, we had to snatch up those tickets too. Saike is pronounced -my secret mistress- “Sigh - key.”
Saiki is pronounced (Sigh-Key). like Psyche, and not (Say-Key). That would be spelled Seiki, like the watch brand, Seiko. But the rest of the names were correct.
Been around to see Van Halen live, Rush Led Zepplin ……. Nothing compares to the wonderful ladies of Band Maid…….NOTHING! Solos, vocals drums….second to none, I LOVE BAND MAID❤❤
I've seen them twice, in SF and Sacramento and they didn't disapppoint. New album coming out Aug/Sept so maybe a tour next year to support it. I hope. Let me know if you want to watch the acoustic version of "Puzzle", I'll send the link. Might want to watch both versions since they're so different but both awesome.
Thanks for your reaction! Yeah, with Band-Maid, one thing you are not going to be, is bored. When you bring together a group of genius composers, part-writers, lyricists, and performers, you end up with an amazing experience on every listen. (fyi, Saiki = psyche)
I’d love to meet you both, especially in Japan and really especially at a Band-Maid concert. You guys are a lot of fun! 😊 Akane, the happiest drummer on the planet. 🥁 You did quite well with the pronunciations. Saike would be the 2nd way you said it. Think of “psycho” but put an “eee” on the end instead of “o” and you have it. 👍🇯🇵🇨🇦
The reason for the lyrics being mixed is for lyrical flow. An example I got from Asami, is the word You, in Japanese it has 3 syllables. So song writers/lyricists in Japan mix the languages. While not a lot of the Japanese are not fluent in English they will understand a lot. Also because of the American occupation the Japanese use many English words everyday. You want a Hot Dog, you ask for a Hot Dog. Same for Ice Cream.
It's beautiful watching you guys falling deeper and deeper into the BM universe. There is SO much more to discover and it's all amazing. Ah, you've found the mother lode! One of the greatest Hard Rock performances of all time. 🤘🤘DOMINATION live was the 22nd song of their 23 song set at this 2020 concert and begins with a segue that is the dying away of the last note of the previous song PLAY. At 5:05 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 5:45 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in her curled finger so she can produce it and switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond! At 6:30 - Akane the drummer is hitting two separate beats on her double kick pedals while simultaneously continuing the song melody on her snare, toms and cymbal. Class drumming! At 9:16 - a brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one sweet rolling chord pattern - pure class. THE best Hard Rock band on Earth! PS There is a 1 hour, 12 song concert that they performed at Lollopalooza Festival last year on YT. Just saying. 😉🤘

Band Maid is literally like no other band out there today. I've been following rock for a long time, since the late 1950's, and there is only one band that even comes close to them as far as ability and performance. It was a band that to me, was the progenitor for all American female rock bands and their name was Fanny. The came together as an actual group in 1969 and went through several changes in members until breaking up in 1975. But the core of the group were always sisters June and Jean Millington. They had a spinoff band in 2018. You should really check them out. They were still playing together in a different combination with Jean's son John playing bass as of last year. You will not be disappointed. And just to confuse you more, you need to check out the Japanese female band SCANDAL, who are in their 18th year together and just released a new album, they're 12th I believe. They J-rock and have a great sound. Their musicianship is also stellar and they write their own music. It's a four-person group with Haruna, Tomomi, Mami and Rina. They all sing and have great vocal harmonies. To me, SCANDAL is what happened if The Bangles, The Go Go's and The Runaways had a baby with Steve Miller, lol. One of their more recent hits is a heavy one called A.D.K.J, which is fire and some of their older songs are Shunkan Sentimental, Harukaze, Pinheel Surfer and Stamp, which really has a Steve Miller vibe to it. Once again, another great reaction.
The opening of this song was the outro from the previous song called "Play", and it's a fantastic song too! I've seen these amazing ladies four times, but not in Japan unfortunately. Whichever show you can make it to, the fan base is always friendly and helpful and welcoming!
If you get a chance to see them on any stage it is a blessing. I saw them at the small Ace Of Spades club in Sacramento CA in 2023. They were on a small corner stage. As Miku says, "It's so, so, so, so hot" and the place was packed but I am so glad to have seen them this close. Even on this Fan-Cam recording from the show you can feel just how amazing it is to be with them. This is the song Moratorium after Miku's introduction. ua-cam.com/video/MKQOrYduHCw/v-deo.html
You mentioned wanting to see Band Maid in Japan? Well, I just got back from seeing them in Tokyo with the Warning! I've also seen them twice here in the States. I too love them! But now, you also must react to the Warning, three sisters out of Mexico. They are redefining rock n roll, by doing it right! Start with their live appearance on the MTV music Awards from 3003, the song Evolve. That will give you a taste of what they're about. Trust me on this! You WANT to know these girls. They became friends with Band Maid at a festival where they both played, and the mutual respect and love they show each other is incredible to see. Pleas do this soon, because there's so much more of the Warning you'll want to see and hear! Remember, Evolve from the 2033 MTV music awards!
Yeah. Japanese schools take music seriously. It's compulsory until you take your exam options at around 13. Then if you decide to continue it thereafter you are expected to get somewhat proficient. (And it's mostly young girls taking this option rather than boys). Plus schools are equipped with full band equipment, guitars, bass and drums etc, school bands are encouraged and sometimes promoted (some have their own YT channels). Basically the Japanese school system is churning out incredible musicians at a huge rate. Unfortunately, very few make it - but those that do are insanely talented. In my country (UK) being a musician isn't classed as a real 'job' - until after you are famous. Note- please correct me if I'm wrong on anything, this is just from what I have researched.
Yes I know!!!! We were planning on dropping the warning this weekend but I ended up with pneumonia and got backed up on requests on Ko-fi😢 and had to release those first

Thanks for very clean sound of video you react, it's not often these days
The opening of this song was the outro from the previous song called "Play", and it's a fantastic song too! I've seen these amazing ladies four times, but not in Japan unfortunately. Whichever show you can make it to, the fan base is always friendly and helpful and welcoming!
Rock concerts are now a tourist event in Japan. :) Folks go there to see concerts!
Wow I’m sure they are awesome there 😍
If you get a chance to see them on any stage it is a blessing.
🤘🤘
Saiki sings falsetto then growls. ❤❤❤❤❤
Happy to meet you, will be there in July PO !
Sigh-Key
You said good words about Saiki or Miku, maniacs love it very much. Other three have a lot of praise anyway, but two vocals are chuchous of fans.
They Japanese bands are just better - especially the all-female groups. The talent out if Japan is incredible.
GUYS YOU CANNOT SO BAND MAID WITHOUT DOING THE WARNING, LOVE YA..
Yes I know!!!! We were planning on dropping the warning this weekend but I ended up with pneumonia and got backed up on requests on Ko-fi😢 and had to release those first

When they crowd the drummer they’re making faces trying to get her off her game.
You wouldn't like being in Tokyo today. We're up for 3" of rain.
That is a lot of rain! We live in the desert and are in a drought! No rain here lol
