  • Stella, a formerly homeless cat, decided she was going to make my house her home after she dumped five babies in my back yard in March 2023. She has since been spayed, microchipped, given her yearly shots, and cost me a small fortune to manage her health problems that occurred before she arrived.
She has always run and hid whenever I open the garage door, but for some reason, for the first time ever, she apparently crawled up where the spare tire is on the Chevrolet Tahoe. Fortunately, I stopped and waited for the garage door to close before I drove off.
Stella just used up one of her nine lives.

Love it. Typical story of a Dad who fell in love with a "free" cat. We have had similar experiences and we now have six "free" cats, each and every one of them costing us a small fortune. And, yeah, it's heart attack city when they get caught up in these kinds of "adventures". LOL! Good on ya, Steve! 😊💗

Good thing you stopped. Crazy how she didn't jump down when you started the car.

I think Stella used up one of mine, too. That just scares the bejesus outta me. We have several kitties and that is the stuff of our waking nightmares. !!!!! 😱

Why would you let your cats roam unsupervised?

@@h8GW Our cats aren't slaves or possessions. They are smart, thinking "people" with their own desires and plans for their days. We don't keep them captive. We have a kitty door from the kitchen to the back garden which they use to come and go. All but one never leave our property. The one that does only goes next door and across the street to visit her two "boyfriends" (two legged) who spoil her rotten. We do have house rules. During hot weather, out early and in for lunch, then that's it. For cooler seasons, out early, but in by four for dinner and that's it. Nobody is allowed out after four pm. They are all usually in by 3 pm anyway. We are retired and we are home all day, so we keep a sharp eye on comings and goings as a matter or routine.

At first I thought you meant the cat crossed the street in front of that van while your Tahoe blocked her from view.

Until about April 2024, I always checked her hiding spots if she wasn't visible to me before I drove away. If I couldn't locate her, I would pop the hood and be sure she wasn't in the engine compartment. Now I'm back to looking for her before I start the vehicle and I have a new place to look for those few times I can't locate her.
