These tutorials by blenderBinge are a breath of fresh air. As a total novice, I really appreciate the efforts of someone who devotes time to explaining systematically - and slowly, with lots of repetition - the essential basics. (So many online tutorials seem more about their author than the subject matter.) Thank you, and please carry on with your generosity, because it's greatly appreciated.
This tutorial exemplifies why I like this channel and your teaching style. You focus on the purpose of things - the principles. And you don't assume too much about the user when teaching the fundamentals. You are an excellent teacher.
Thank you!! I like to try to get to the “why”, because, at least for me, if I know that, then I can apply it to many other things and everything clicks faster. Math was like that for me. Not one of my teachers ever taught the “why” behind it. I don’t fault them, but it would have saved me from a whole lot of stress lol! Thanks!!

Very useful tips for people new to Blender. You could also mention that when you add loop cuts, you can scroll up and down on your mouse wheel to add or remove more cuts.
blenderBinge I’m at a frustrated point where I’m willing to pay someone just to “get me into” Blender. I have no3d background, only 2d photoshop. I’m hoping to find a weekend intro class in Pittsburgh (2.5h drive) or a local group. Thanks 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Peter XYZ Pittsburg is tech now so that might be a good idea if there is something there. If not, maybe a bit further into Morgantown WVU? There might be groups in Philly too. I remember sitting down with a rep from Newtek and in 1 hour he completely revolutionized my modeling skills. I also took a class in lighting with Alex Alvarez at Gnomon and it was worth way more than I paid. I got a job using Maya shortly afterward. It could be a good idea, even at a 2.5 hour drive.
blenderBinge I’m in Ohio and Phill is....8? 10 hours away? I still feel that a paid course, with the ability to have ask spontaneous questions is worth the price. I’ll keep searching, hope there is a course or user group in northern Ohio or near DC
Peter XYZ There should definitely be users or a group in the DC area. Bethesda Softworks is in the beltway area. I’d imagine you could find something there. Good luck!!
Thank-you for taking the time to produce these great videos. I am not new to math modeling but never really got in to the Blender tool. Your series on Blender 2.80 have made the jump in to blender so much easier........and fun. Best regards.
Great video! I almost never click the bell. Your tutorials are indeed bell worthy! Thank you for investing your time to help those of just beginning to learn blender.
3d Steveo Thanks! Im glad that I’ve earned the bell. Im trying to create videos that I’d want to watch while hitting all the right info. Inevitably I’ll miss a few things here and there because Blender is very deep, with 12 ways to do any one task lol. Thanks is again!!
Awesome! I came from Maya and Lightwave, so I’m familiar with Modo and the history there. I’ve switched or picked up so many different apps over the years that I came up with this list to help. I’m glad it helps you!
You left out that you can only do a loop cut on quads. This is pretty important! So if your object has any tris or ngons the tool might not work in the desired way. For example, at 10:01mins where he previously used the knife tool to cut out the hexagon that last loop cut it did not go all the way to both ends because there was a ngon in the path. The previous loop cuts went all the way because there were quads along the part of the hexagon. Otherwise great video!
Sjon Jones You are right. I should have mentioned that. Ngons aren’t really good to have anyway, but I use them sometimes too. Thanks for the clarification, and the kind words. My videos will keep getting better thanks to comments like yours 😀
I can't thank you enough for how concise this video is & your perfect English. Could you pretty please do a video on Blender 2.8 spin feature? I'm having trouble getting it working properly, and I can't figure out why. The tutorials currently online are outdated.
Thank You! I can do one on that for 2.8. I have a couple of videos using the screw modifier to get a similar effect if that will help: Lathe With Curves in Blender 2.8 ua-cam.com/video/Hagc6or9nsM/v-deo.html
Hey! This is really cool, while here are very basic, they can speed up your workflow tenfold. Also, I have some cheap Apple headphones and it has really good Mic quality so I would recommend it.
Burrito Thanks! I seek these out in any new 3D package I learn first. These are my “go to” tools. Thanks for the tip on the Apple mic combo. I’m on a pretty crappy mic that just barely gets the job done lol. I’ll be upgrading soon I hope haha! Thanks!!!
Bridge Edge Loops does much, much more than this, too. You could devote a short episode to it. It's the closest approach vanilla Blender makes to lofting.
I think your question would best be answered here: docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/modeling/meshes/editing/duplicating/extrude.html This is pretty well written and can explain it way better than I can right now in a limited UA-cam comment. Let me know if it helps and I understood your question correctly. Thanks!!
Im not good at modelling and terrible at sculpting so I tried sculpting on an object I made but the subdiv has to be right or it falls apart so Im trying to figure out how to get that right .If you dont get started right you go nowhere I tried dyntopo and you need skill to make it work so you got to get the right subdiv thats what Im trying to figure out . thanks for your replies Ive never done any of this but I know blender is the best way
You can subdivide an edge and make it appear curved. As far as bending an edge, an edge is a straight line between 2 points, so I don’t think it lends itself to curving without more points. Curves are better served by using splines or beziers.
Windows 10 boots up faster and there is alot of peaces of software like dx12. But then again has loads of problems like the search. I was just wandering your specific reasons out of curiousity.
“New” as in “on the interface and easy to find for new users”. I made this video to highlight tools I like in Blender. I should have clarified that right in the front of the video... I live and learn lol.
I wish I can make everyone watch your tutorials, you deserve all the best, Allah gives you a unique talent in teaching hard stuff in a very simple way..... I will start to post your tutorials on Linkedin and Twitter..... I hope you don't mind..... www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6610203006132674560/

Thanks David!! I just saw this comment. I’m flowing with the UA-cam current and will keep this in mind as I go forward 😀

New to Blender... Really helpful! Please don't stop making these videos.
tubilar111 You’re welcome! I plan on making lots more 😀. Thanks!!
@@KevBinge good to hear!

¡De nada! Espero que las cosas estén bien en Venezeuela. ¡Parece un país tan hermoso! ¡Gracias!
Thank you Kevin. Your video was very clear and concise. It also shows how to use Blender in a smarter way. Keep on with that!
You’re welcome! These are my go to techniques for almost any new 3D package I learn. They work really well in Blender. Thanks!
Certainly one of the best beginner's tutorial on UA-cam!
Thank You! Let me know if you have any questions. :)

Kyle Stephen Alley Thanks! That’s a great tip. I wonder how that works with 3-Button mouse emulation/laptops? Awesome!
best channel for learning blender 2.8
Thank you!!
Thank you 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼! THIS is what I’ve been bitching about: no explanation, no tutorial, lasses to teach how to use the tools.
Peter XYZ Thanks! It’s free, and many studios use the commercial software so there’s not much support. I hope to be a part of changing that 😀.

not new techniques, but still good for beginners. Thanks for all. man. Keep going
Yeah, these are certainly not “new” but are my go to tricks in every 3D software lol. Thanks!!!

I’m glad to hear it! It’s a fun program.
Very simple and direct for a noobie like me! :) THANK YOU!!

Thanks for this. I came to Blender from Modo and Maya so this was a good way to learn where the core tools are in a memorable way.
Awesome! I came from Maya and Lightwave, so I’m familiar with Modo and the history there. I’ve switched or picked up so many different apps over the years that I came up with this list to help. I’m glad it helps you!
very use full for beginners
Thank you!!

Very useful, especially since it covers the currently 'new' UI.
Thank you.

Nice set of tutorials mate. Keep them flowing please :)
Thanks! I posted a poll to see what people want and I’m getting great feedback! I have lots more coming!
Great tutorial! Keep posting. It helps a lot!
Cleber Nunes Thanks!! I plan to 😀
This is super helpful for someone just starting out, thank you!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching too! 😀
Really nice video. Thanks
Thank you!!
What an awesome channel! I'd recommend to everyone to hit the bell icon!

NOTE: with the example 3-Bridge loops, you select only TWO edges is the same action if you click the key F.
ole Thanks! That’s helpful 😀

Robin Betts Absolutely! That technique goes deep. Thanks!!
Thank you so much ❤️
Thank you so much
You’re welcome 😀
A question: Bridge edge loops do the same thing as just press F button?
It’s similar, yes. It creates a face and is another way of doing that. Thanks!
Thank you =)
Fabian Käser You’re welcome 😀
why wen you stretch the cube or strude is faces that if you try to split you can't? any one?like one side will do but the other no

Keep at it and you’ll get there. I sucked when I started... really, really sucked lol. Just keep going and ask questions, and we’ll all help 😀
And another can you curve an edge in blender ?

how to isolate object to able to paint inside a scene
Oh, nevermind, I misread what you wrote. Are you referring to local view, like isolating a selection?
Ctrl + R + MMB
Thanks!
It's not vertice. It's vertex (as the menu says), plural vertices.
Yes, you are correct. It’s a bad habit I’ve had for years.
Alt A does not work is double AA
why windows 7?
Why not? It was on the machine I used at the time and still works well.
Windows 10 boots up faster and there is alot of peaces of software like dx12. But then again has loads of problems like the search. I was just wandering your specific reasons out of curiousity.
Cool 😀. All the later videos are on Windows 10. I usually use whatever is available around the house lol.
fair enough, I understand the upgrade progress is tedious.
It is. My main computer that I’m doing these videos on now is Win 10 with decent sound now lol.
Not very new - all known in Blender 2.79
“New” as in “on the interface and easy to find for new users”. I made this video to highlight tools I like in Blender. I should have clarified that right in the front of the video... I live and learn lol.
Decent tutorial, but misleading title. These aren't really "concepts" for overall modelling, these are basic operations for beginners.
