      @Guess I'll commit genocide On a smol side note, I'd like to point out how "not all men" is a problematic thing to use in the community and specifically at such topics.
      I'm saying: Please know it can get you in trouble for very valid reasons why you may have absolutely no bad intentions.
      I can explain that further if you like me to. But maybe we'll be fine without and you take the input and consider using it very carefully, scarcely etc.
      It's difficult in either situation (no matter the gender used) but it is kind of usable when someone explicitly says "All x have habit y". But if it's irony and not explicitly "All x have/do y", then it's a really really peculiar figure of speech. It'd be good if we all could move past generalisations and go more towards "X who do/say y are really (acting like) z". Much better for all parties.
      Again, please understand me right: It's a suggestion to spare you future conflict you may not have been aware of resulting from that specific word choice. :3

    The only "Men's Rights" movements that I see and agree with are the ones that are pushing for societal/cultural reduction of toxic masculinity since it arguably hurts men as much as it does women. Pushing for acceptance of men being "allowed" to be vulnerable, feel feelings, and explore themselves in a healthy way. I'm super pro all of this because it helps everyone. Men, women, enbies, everyone.

    • @catpoke9557
      @catpoke9557 3 роки тому +871

      It does. Because of that masculinity mindset, men are often unable to find groups for trauma and the like, and they also oftentimes cannot gain custody of a kid even if the mother is absolutely awful. They're oftentimes not believed when they are assaulted (more so than with women, I believe) and even if they are believed people often do nothing about it because they should be 'glad,' or they should be ashamed of being assaulted if the person who did it was a woman. And a whole host of other issues. All because people believe men should be unfeeling and aggressive.

    The childbirth vs. nut shot vs. period cramp pain debate is one of the dumbest things ever.
    (1)Every person has a different level of pain tolerance. Some people who have periods have never experienced pain from it; others feel crippling pain from. Same with childbirth and nut shots.
    (2)People can only experience up to two of these three things, meaning they can never reasonably compare all of the experiences with one another.
    (3)The only thing that you could reasonably argue about one being “worse” than another is frequency of the appearance of it. As in, people, regardless of their health or circumstances, can go their entire life without experiencing childbirth or nut shots; most people born with a uterus will have had a period at some point in their lives. But almost no one even tries to make this argument. Why? Because the people who realize this argument also realize how stupid the “Suffering Olympics” is.

      But saying only "more so" makes me think you havent given birth, lol... maybe I'm wrong? Let me know!
      I just think anyone who has both been someone's birth support and given birth themself understands that the person giving birth has gone through an experience that can almost cause a kind of derealized state, because (for most people) heavy labor is SO intense. The pain is everywhere.
      During the brief period when I was in heavy labor with my twins, I could feel pain OUTside of where my body ended, if that makes any sense.
      Additionally, giving birth is invasive of your privacy beyond belief, lol. That whole aspect is very underrated. Its like you're a car going in for major work, and a while team of mechanics have to look at you on the lift and discuss what needs to be done. And it doesn't end when the baby comes out.

    Community Answer
    You don't have to 'look like' a lesbian to be one. Not all lesbians look a certain way, just as straight people can look all kinds of ways. If she says she is a lesbian, you have to respect that. You can't change someone's sexuality, and you can't force yourself on someone, regardless of their sexuality.

    Also I think we might need a men's rights movement. - To address topics like the suicidal rate amongst men being way higher than amongst women/ men being far less likely to gain the custody of their children/ sexual and domestic abuse of boys and men being practically overlooked. But these topics are all part of the feminist movement. Because they are originated in patriarchal, misogynistic world views. Meaning we need a men's rights movement but not a "masculinist" rights movement.

We were pretty far from anything so we decided to keep going forward to our destination, where we would be picked up by parents.

      @@donnyshields4450 I am a bit late, but hopefully this still helps. Long story short, there are issues that disproportionately affect men and those issues deserve to be taken seriously. The majority of suicides are men, men often are not taken seriously when they are the victims of domestic and sexual abuse and are commonly mocked for it and even denied help at centers which deal with domestic or sexual abuse victims. Mens mental health issues often go ignored or mocked, etc etc.
      It can be summed up as "toxic masculinity is bad for men too, and there are causes benefitting men that are genuinely worth advocating for." It just sucks that most "mens rights" people are not advocating for these things, that would be genuine grievances, but are just being insecure regressive assholes as seen in the video.

    As someone who is an empath...even if men were natural empaths, no. Empaths don't feel pain worse than others, any sympathy pain you get for someone is only a sliver of what they feel. If anyone tries to say when you are suffering that they are an empath and they are suffering more than you because of your suffering, they are 100% manipulating and gaslighting you. Empaths may get overwhelmed by feeling sometimes, but your feelings are your own and valid, and unless you are taking out your feelings on them you aren't responsible for the empath's overstimulation of emotions. But do give them space when they are in that state.

I wish I could feel the pain for you - at which time she reached over and grabbed his junk in a death grip. Every time she had a contraction, she squeezed and when he complained she'd say "it can't be that bad!"...she left the delivery room with a healthy baby, he left with bruised testicles, a limp, and a new perspective on life. I have no idea why the doctor or nurses didn't encourage her to release him sooner (I'm guessing years of hearing this crap they were letting one get her own back), but the delivery nurse did get her to take her hand off during the pushing by telling her she was crushing him and this would be their only kid. They had 2 more and he wasn't as stupid the next 2 times.

    My old maths teacher was EXACTLY like this. He would flip houses then rent them out, so thought he was an expert on everything business related, and had a tumour on his spine he had to take intense painkillers for so he thought no-one else's pain was ever even slightly bad. Described labour as worse for the man because he "had to watch his loved one go through that pain and not be able to do anything😔😢😓"
    The worst incident was when, for various reasons, I ended up in the classroom with him and two TAs while they discussed the staff Christmas party. I was the only student there, 14 at the time. He was telling them what to wear, basically, and when one of them said she didn't like short skirts, he asked how she would know if she'd never tried them, in a really gross tone of voice. He then went on to describe (while I was IN THE ROOM, maybe 8ish feet away) how he had forced (not asked, not even convinced, FORCED) his partner to wear a sexy elf outfit for him, and showed the other teachers pictures of her in said outfit. Then used transphobic slurs when the other teacher jokingly described a pair of shoes she'd found online as 'transvestite shoes'. She wasn't at all disrespectful about it, but he immediately jumped in with slurs while I, an openly trans minor, sat in the room.
    Swell guy, though.
    UPDATE: Not long after making this comment, I got in contact with another person from my old school, who said that he had, in front of the whole class (16-13 YOs), started talking about how he enjoyed receiving pain in the bedroom. Somehow he wasn't fired, but did eventually leave, and threw himself a goodbye party which no one came to.

      having had unmedicated labour and a spinal tumour (fortunately at different times), I found the tumour worse. For tge tumour, there was a fear factor, as it took 5 months to be diagnosed and I had no idea what was wrong, if it would kill me, if I would ever regain use of my legs, if the pain would be with me forever, etc. Labour, fortunately, never went more than 16 hours for any of my kids, it’s a known cause and you can be mostly confident of a positive outcome. Curiously for both tumour and labour I found the best pain relief to be a hot shower. you can keep the opioids, they don’t do anything for me.

    Pro tip for life: using "male" and "female" as nouns instead of adjectives when talking about people is always, and I mean ALWAYS, a red flag. Avoid anoyone who speaks about people that way and certainly never get into a replationship with them.

    • @gunforall6247
      @gunforall6247 2 роки тому +3

      How, exactly? They are both words that refer to one’s biological sex, so usually when biology is part of a conversation they would use those because they’d include both adults and children. Of course there are plenty of times when referring to someone as male or female would be strange and sound awkward, but saying all situations using them are red flags takes away from the actual meaning of a red flag.

    • @credendovides20
      @credendovides20 2 роки тому +10

      @@gunforall6247 Yes, they are words that refer to biological sex, but they are used when talking about humans as adjectives. Even in Biology itself when we want to include both adults and children of a specific biological sex, we would go for "biological women/men of all ages".
      We don't use "females"/"males" because it includes non-human life.
      You'll never hear an actual Anglophonic (even if it's their second language like in my case) scientist use expressions like "Females do X" because it would include also other animals, some plants et cetera.
      Ignoring obviously the fact that no scientist would ever use such a general form to begin with because only Siths deal in absolutes and our field is made of exceptions.
      Using "male" and "female" as nouns is either a form of de-humanization or an attempt at giving a negative perception (plus the already mentioned usual improper generalizations/false statements) to the matter you are talking about, both red flags.
      And it is plain out rude. Strict adjectives used as nouns to define groups of people are very rarely polite. Just think about "blondes", "fats", "northers" et cetera; none of these are offensive per se when used to accompany a noun, tehy are descriptive, but they are used alone to be rude.

I don’t want to call others girls or boys because they have already reached puberty, yet it feels like I’m making them seem more mature by using women/men. We do not consider ourselves young children or adults. I think “Ladies and gentlemen” is also pretty good, but it also seems too mature and a lot of them won’t agree with being ladies or gentlemen. I do not want to agree for one side, I just want to know what I should use.

      Honey, if those heteros have the self-awareness to say, "communicate," then they have the self-awareness to listen … and are willing to! Str8 men who aren't going to listen to you in the bedroom are _never_ going to ask you to tell them what you want while you're having sex.
      As a man who has sex with men, let me tell you - we're not telepathic and we know it. The guys who only care about getting their rocks off, gay or str8, are lousy lays. The only difference is that _we_ gay guys will tell him, "you're garbage in bed," while you women are trained to always acquiesce to men's desires and wants. Other guys _want_ to see their partners enjoying themselves, whether a str8 guy or a gay top. Those are the men who _want communication,_ and they find it very unappealing to have a partner who just lies there.

      The "comunicate"is not self awareness, is selfishness. Is not different than using the excuse "she didn't say no" or "they send mixed signals, when don't read minds" when you hear women coming out about sexual assault.

    • @Lisa_Flowers
      @Lisa_Flowers 3 роки тому +23

      @@rileysjonger4192 OR women have been raised in a society where they are taught that their opinions don't matter and should go unvoiced, and men aren't how taught to process criticism properly. So, in relationships where the orgasm gap is an issue, even in other parts of their relationships, if the woman communicates an issue, the man doesn't listen, gaslights her by telling her she's overreacting, says he'll change and won't, or just otherwise women's criticism is framed as 'naggy' or unreasonable so women don't communicate their issues. There's a reason why toxic heterosexual marriage humour about how men hate their wives for asking them to pick up after themselves or do basic things is so common. We've created a culture where women get dumped on for communicating their needs and then act surprised when they don't.
      For men to expect women to communicate, they have to actually help create an environment where that communication is possible, and where it is consistently well recieved.

    my mom was fairly thin when she was dating - her wedding dress was in the low double digits size-wise (US 10/12, 1985). These days, we're around the same size and I'm 'hopelessly' single. Though I have long, blonde hair and a fairly clear social/driving/criminal record - I'm also NOTABLY overweight. Therefore, since MEN are visual creatures, I'm screwed (as is my plus-size best friend). I'm here to say, as an Autistic individual, MEN aren't the only 'visual' creatures. Too many people think this way. Admittedly, I have a thin female friend who is also notably single - she's tall, and pretty - but doesn't look like a cover-model; therefore, the men in our region give her a wide berth also. The world is just full of ridiculously terrible people allowed to run rough-shod over other people with terrible/no excuses prepared because they lucked into power or whatever...
