I'd often this this to my American friends and coworkers " Indians are nothing if not adaptable". Adaptability has been Indian diaspora's biggest strength. Moving half way across the world and starting afresh is not as easy as people make it look, but immigrants all over the world do that day-in & day-out. Indians just excel at that and take it to another level
Then there's the fact that indians in india lack opportunity to do much, rampant corruption, overpopulation, lack of education, poverty, economic divide, crime, etc. Indians do excel in the US because they adapt some american values like individualism and freedom and the thirst for money. Back in india it's impossible because of the hyper collectivist society and family oriented upbringing of indians. You'll find many mommy's boys and daddy's girls in india because they never developed as an adult.

One of the communities who literally have it all in terms of life/work prospects and quality of life.

Same in Trinidad and Guyana , the ones who started coming over were merchants who establish the Indian community to prominence .plus a little extra privilege from the British gave them more power than us blacks.
@@manovrsb My ancestors were indentured labourers who had a hard time working in the fields and saving each and every penny. Of course, I'm never going to compare with slavery that black people had to go through but we weren't given preferential treatment when we landed in Mauritius. On the contrary, the Catholic Church and the Franco-Mauritian elite made sure their converted slaves got better education than us after the British took over. Today we, along with Chinese Mauritians, represent the new elite simply because we do better at school
@varoonnone7159 accessibility matters as well . I'm not discouraging any indians for their success , in fact I applaud them for it and wish blacks can learn from them.
@@manovrsb Accessibility is key, I agree. That said, culture matters a lot. Among coloured migrants in Mauritius, Chinese Mauritians did better than us Indo-Mauritians at school and took a lead. We later had to catch up. It's probably due to the fact that they had a general value system that placed great emphasis on academic education. That same emphasis was more fluctuant among Indian communities and somehow lacking among creole (black) Mauritians The 500 best candidates at the A levels are ranked each year. Chinese Mauritians who represent 3% of the population make up 9% of the best candidates. In contrast, creole Mauritians who make up 28% of the population make up 9% of the best candidates too. The same pattern of chinese children doing better than indian children and indian children doing better than black children can be seen elsewhere. Even in the West, Jews outsmart non Jews by a significant margin because of a solid academic culture. I think we can all learn from each other. I would like to see black children more interested in science. That's where scopes for upliftment resides. I live in France now and specific black communities here are adopting education as a medium of progress like the Cabo Verdians etc. Unfortunately religion sometimes hinders progress like in the case of Malians. As a Pakistani I want to tell you that Australia and New Zealand had a century and century old relationship with India. More over Indian diaspora is mostly or highly recommend and strong in Australia and in New Zealand

What's the collective bargaining power of the Indian diaspora? You say something is powerful or powerless on whether they can assert the power, which Indian diaspora can't. There is no collectivist thinking among diaspora. India diaspora won't shed one drop of tears even if millions of Indians vanish or if some other part of diaspora faces some issue. Case in point, violence against Indians in Fiji, genocide in Bangladesh, Srilanka, expulsion of Indians in Uganda, human rights violation of Indian labourers in Middle East etc.
Yeah, Indian diaspora is actually pretty weak even though many individuals are in positions of power. For example, Chinese diaspora helps with the development of China by bringing western technology back to China, Pakistani diaspora has plenty of street power in UK and can embarras Indian mission whenever it wants. I never heard of anything that Indian diaspora has done which has benefitted India apart from remittances.
Tbf the examples you gave mostly involve blue collar Indians working in foreign countries. The Indian diaspora in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand is pretty powerful. They were the ones who bankrolled the RSS, VHP and BJP into success, and currently some left wing sections of that diaspora are financially supporting various opposition parties in India.
It is because of American spirit of FREEdom, iNdividualism, reason and capitalism. These are human heart values.
They don't actually adapt. Nobody cares what you do. We white people only care about 1. don't do crime 2. try to be self-reliant 3. stop accusing everyone of being racist.

Same in Trinidad and Guyana , the ones who started coming over were merchants who establish the Indian community to prominence .plus a little extra privilege from the British gave them more power than us blacks.
@@manovrsb
My ancestors were indentured labourers who had a hard time working in the fields and saving each and every penny.
@@manovrsb
Accessibility is key, I agree. That said, culture matters a lot.
Among coloured migrants in Mauritius, Chinese Mauritians did better than us Indo-Mauritians at school and took a lead. We later had to catch up. It's probably due to the fact that they had a general value system that placed great emphasis on academic education. That same emphasis was more fluctuant among Indian communities and somehow lacking among creole (black) Mauritians
The 500 best candidates at the A levels are ranked each year.

Can't get a job without education. That's the driving force. hundreds of millions are competing for the sought after jobs. This makes us learn more about a lot of topics. Then comes the language issue - have to learn at least three languages to be freely mixing up with people from India itself.
@@anishmaitra5934can’t get a job without education is not true. You can work at McDonald’s and go to school for higher education if you choose too or you can obtain a job with a skill set, go into the milk and obtain a job, be an influencer without a degree.

@@unknownnation9465 was talking about India. People don't strive to get a job in McDonald's during early years. To earn a few bucks we choose to teach students from lower standards. People working in McDonald's here are themselves educated. It's a job here, not a side job. Also, you don't get enough time to work during your college years in India, it is pretty demanding. Life was easy, I had decent income, decent living quarters, friendly neighbours, absolutely no hostility, people who respected my indianness, to be more accurate were actually awed by it. But still I felt an emptiness which just refused to go away.
I have since always lived in india in almost all big cities of india. There have been weeks when I didn't interact with any human being. But I never felt empty at all. Every nook and cranny, every street, every tree, every hillock, stream, every village, every town, every city of india feels like home... hard to describe this feeling ... The success of the Indian diaspora can be attributed to several factors. First, education has played a crucial role. Indians have a strong emphasis on education, and many have excelled in various fields, including science, technology, business, and the arts. This dedication to learning has propelled them to positions of influence and leadership.
Indians have a strong emphasis on education because there are very few jobs in India. Indian society is still ruled by uneducated people
The guy who got a masters in "entire political science" has just banned indian kids from learning about evolution and the periodic table. So I would blow the trumpet of the Indian education system just yet.

Considering about 18-19% of world population is Indian or Indian origin, Indian diaspora has a very long way to go before its size and power is fairly representative of the country
That's not quite accurate. India may have 1.4 billion people but the size of the diaspora is a mere 25-30 million, with millions amongst those from indentured labour origins. Relative to that, Indians are, by any measure, by and large massively successful outside their mother country.

This may create a positive image of our country in the world, but it is resulting in significant losses for our nation. Every day, thousands of people permanently leave the country in search of better opportunities elsewhere. They feel that there is no benefit in paying taxes in India, nor do they receive anything in return from the government. Furthermore, the business ecosystem is not straightforward. Most businesses are operated by successive generations within families, such as Reliance. Firstly, Dhirubhai Ambani founded the company, then his son Mukesh Ambani ran it, and eventually, it will be divided among his children. On the other hand, if we look at CEOs of big tech companies like Sundar Pichai and Parag Aggarwal, they became company CEOs within a decade of working because of their talent. However, in India, people do not value talent, and this is a significant reason why they choose to settle abroad.
