It's like some people who've become so sore with "the bad", they elevate animals to being "above/better than humans" but as much "bad" as we humans do/can do, we're also dominate beings who do the most good for other humans and for these animals etc. As much as I love my "fur babies", I believe we are made in God's Image, His most prized creation and the good that we do, is a reflection of God Himself and His goodness.
@daveblevins3322, yes! I'm not a volunteer but I donated what I could to those who are volunteers. It was heartbreaking seeing some of the volunteers breaking down as they talked about sometimes "finding bodies".... I still want to understand HOW this happened where a river normally 1-2 feet deep somehow went to 19 feet and up to 30 feet deep across this wide swath when that storm didn't "linger for days" and only went over a portion of NC and it had already lost some power because we know they lose power when they hit land. Years ago a hurricane hit NC directly from the ocean at full strength and went across the entire state and it didn't flood this area like this.... IIRC the river is nearly 80 miles long with twists and turns so unless water had accumulated so heavily to pour into the river all along the way.... I also wonder if the landscape of the river changed somehow overtime where drainage was impeded.... You'd think that someone in gov't monitors these things so they could warn residents to evacuate an area before certain weather events hit that area.
Amen I agree, we see a lot of evil in this world but there's a lot of people who have a good heart who don't want to do evil and actually want to bless others 🙏 thank you Father God that your light in us who are your children shines the brightest in the darkest days. Loved to see this "old bird"! I was 4 years old in 1952 when my mother, my 2 year old brother and I flew in a USAF C-54 from Travis Air Force Base near San Francisco to Hawaii to Midway Island and then to Tokyo to join my dad. Four propellers, no pressurization, no smooth flights above the weather, noise, no navigation by GPS, just two seats on either side of the aisle, finding our way by paper charts, compass, stars, and sun--and that flight across the vast Pacific took FOREVER. The flight seemed even longer for Mom who had a rambunctious boy on her lap. The passengers were all moms and kids and babies (think the days before disposable diapers). Two years later, all of us--including Dad this time--flew back across the ocean in another C-54. Several years ago the same C-54 in this video visited Winston-Salem, NC for an airshow. I was delighted to walk around in it for the first time in over 60 years. I just sat in one of those passenger seats you see in the video, closed my eyes, and re-lived the memories!!

I'm not familiar with aircraft anyway except for a few of the helicopters which were there like the Huey, Cobra and Apache. They also had the "acrobatic helicopter" with the "face" on it they flew it backwards/sideways etc., and there was even a Mig aircraft doing fly-bys, those things are insanely fast! They also had the huge 4- prop transport plane as well as the large jet variant & some "acrobatic planes" including a single prop with wings that fold up and another one whose wings actually fold "back".... I seem to remember planes like that being best for aircraft carriers beacause folded wings saved space.
This story has touched me deeply. The WWII and followup have been of great interest my entire life of 84 years. including the candy bomber story. I am a pilot (small planes) and love anything that flies. I have ridden in a B-17 and have met pilots from WWII and heard their stories of missions they flew. It is touching to know the missions continue.
I got several rides in c54's in the late 1960's when I served as an RF101 crew chief in Sumter South Carolina. My squadron, the 29th TRS, used my airplane for display at various air shows. The RF101 being a single seat fighter, meant that I would usually fly to the show on a TAC Courier. The C54 was my favorite ride. Low and slow, the scenery is spectacular, the planes were roomy and comfortable, and the crews treated me very, very well. Nice to see the old birds still serving.
My late father served in the Berlin Airlift as a USAF photographer. He documented these operations for the Air Force. They flew thousands of tons of coal into Belin to keep the people from freezing.Thousands of tons of milk flour and other food. A plane landed every three minutes at its peak, 24 hrs a day. 365 days a year for 15 months until the Soviets realized they're wasting their time and resources. They are not going to starve out the people of Berlin and take over the whole city.
My father was a member of this Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation and we are very proud that some of his photographs are on display in this aircraft to continue to educate younger generations what freedom is and less we not forget the more than 30 pilots and crews killed in crashes in bad weather during the Airlift.
I pray daily for my western neighbors. This is the most destructive and devastating thing to happen here in my long life. I've lost hope in our country and its leaders, but my hope for our people shines like a beacon. We're Tar Heel strong! 🙏💞 MayKay used to be at a station in my area in the Piedmont Triad. Glad to see she's doing well.
That's a cool plane that I would love to ride in I flew in a DC3 a few times that was built during the early 40's for WW2 anyway I am so glad people have not forgot about WNC and all the family's and people that are left with out anything this Christmas. So glad they got something for Christmas since they don't have much anymore.

Those are being delivered before Christmas. They have channel “ Incredible Tiny Homes” showing they already have built 30 in one week. Model is the “ incred-I-box. Lowe’s verified they will be able to be used in counties per rules ®ulations. As these are fully insulated, full electric & plumbing, kitchen & bath. Built on anxle trailers, ANSI certified. They have already delivered some, first one went to mom with children that were in a tent before.
The people need a thing called lumber from trees so they can rebuild. At this point I'm sure most of them are not really worried about toys just getting there home back!
