Hey if you’re curious about where the show might be going you should look up the comic book origin for Peacemaker. This first season seems to set up a lot of elements from it (namely him being haunted by the ghost of his racist father).
It had potential but it blew too hard with its agenda bs like usual. Undeniable that there is some legit greatness in it but I think it was way too heavy handed in certain aspects. I think 98% of what comes out now is in poor taste and at best idiotic. I love/am saddened that there’s a passionate collection that will eat up anything they’re thrown.
I liked it, but I am curious how they will continue this series.
This show had the perfect amount of campiness, villainy, heroics, and one liners. Plus the episodes all having a pun name was cool.
James Gunn snapped on this one. Been a fan since, Dawn of the Dead and Slither. But I wasn't expecting him on T.V. territory.
Each episode is a little stand alone, of cinematic and musical gem, while brilliantly weaving the storyline as a whole.
Pure and unadulterated Joy.

Loving James Gunn's Peacemakers series, John Cena doesn't get enough credit for his acting and comedic abilities. This show has convinced me more than ever he would have been perfect casting as Shazam against Dwayne Johnsons Black Adam.
Haha this is the best comment in DCEU. I had a wish that Cena was Shazam and Dwayne is Black Adam. Their fight will be DCEU's WrestleMania

I think he really did sympathise with the butterfly, they were really similar.
But Peacemaker had grown and realised ends does not justify the means.
Still they were sorta kindred spirits.
We'll be seeing a tiny grave right next to one of his garden decos

Vigilante is my favorite which is odd because before the show started it was the character I was most concerned about...
I’d be interested to see if it’s actually something peacemakers father did to him by planting a virtual ai or something in his sons head that activated when his father died. This could also allow him to continue getting new tech

I just binged the whole season back to back episodes and I loved it. I’m happy to hear they already got approved for a season 2. James really overdid himself with this, it was really good. My favorite part was the short Vigilante pissing scene 😂💀

this show absolutely blew me away based on what i was actually expecting. and i had no idea what i was expecting.
Vigilante's conversion with economist in episode 8 was the funniest shit ever. Favorite show of the year so far, 9/10. Looking forward to season 2.
Seeing Judomaster cry while eating his signature Cheetos, just hits different.
I wonder if the hot stuff he eats protected him from the butterflies entering his mouth....

@@wjrasmussen666 he was working with them and knew about them, they had no reason to take him over when they don't need a host. Yeah they're parasitic, but not by force. They can live outside a host as long as they want without issue. Killing a human and using them as a host is just got communication and disguise

Initially, after seeing The Suicide Squad, I was open to seeing more adventures with Peacemaker (though, he wouldn't be my first choice to develop a spinoff show on; I still would love to see more with Bloodsport and Ratcatcher!!!!)
I have to admit, I was super surprised with how much I still dug the show. Much like Doom Patrol, the show perfectly balances the campy and silly aspects of superheroes while also giving things real pathos and heart. That is what I love about superheroes! While it may not be my favorite James Gunn project (still would put the Guardians films and TSS over this show), Peacemaker is still a great piece of entertainment. You bet your ass I'm excited for what they do with S2.

at 8:50 I think your wrong. Peacemaker did not go against his values because he intentionally shot her in the chest and not in the head. Sophie Song was already dead when the butterfly took her body. So technically he didn't kill butterfly. He only destroyed the body the butterfly inhabited.
I hope the levitation helmet randomly falls on a bad guy in season 2.

I've really been enjoying Vigilante, Peacemaker, Economos, Harcourt, Murn, Judomaster, Goff, and Eagly's stories. Adebayo was also there.
So much better than I anticipated. The next season has a very high bar to clear..
Truly a masterclass in storytelling and fun that has been long absent from DC products.

Vigilantes character is the funniest in all of DC.
This and Doom Patrol have no right being this good and having so little recognition and popularity. Really wish people gave the show a better chance.
My favorite was Vigilante. I mean - come on - he was crazy and dangerous. I loved the scene with him in the prison kicking some ass. lol

Harcourt is absolutely beautiful too! It's pretty crazy, but did you know that James Gunn and the actress who plays Harcourt, just got engaged in the last few days?...Shit blew my mind when I read it this morning haha what a lucky guy!! 😉

I love how peacemakers season one story arch really starts back to the suicide squad.
If you recall, he fought and killed Flagg to prevent critical intel from being leaked to the public on the basis of keeping the peace.
Am I the only one who noticed that it’s rubbish that anyone’s voice can just activate peacemaker’s helmets? So people can just die anytime if someone says activate sonic boom in peacemaker’s presence
is gotta be the eagle, i couldnt find more emotion in 1 scene than the eagle hugging peace maker

I hated John Cena until I watched suicide squad, didn't even really like him in that. Peacemaker is one of my favorite characters of all time, John is amazing in it. I hope we get a feature film to go with this spicy series.

Thought Vigilante was a butterfly for a sec at the end (by going up his ass during the battle)
I loved Peacemaker. Great balance or character development & comedy (2 lighten the heavy issues). Vigilante was my fav character with Eagley. The season Finalè was great as ThinkStory said in the summary. I was hoping for a bit more “things I missed” but the review was solid. Can’t wait for season 2. James Gunn is a great story teller leader. His team is great at crafting whole characters. Which is hard with so many sometimes. & although not all story plot holes were filled it was a great ride.
Adored it. What a great season. And without doubt the best title scene in TV history , roll in season 2 🤟

Gunn absolutely nailed it in this series. I can see what he can do when you give him no holds barred with violence and language. A less arty-er Tarantino, and I meant it in a very good way.
8:21 & 9:27 Bloodsport vs Deadshot (Alien vs Predator) 2-part episodes in Peacemaker season 2
Loved the show but felt that it should have set up better for a season 2 villain. White Dragon never struck me as somebody who could have developed all that tech, so I saw him more as a pawn of some greater villain. The helmets would point toward someone with a fixation for hats, like Mad Hatter.
The Sheriff he was creepy then hilarious 😂 when he doing the press conference and explaining how to clean and dry yourself off.

Congrats on a season 2 I too was blown away from the show asking myself why the show was made and I can see what James saw.

Loved this show, only thing I thought could be better is more episodes! , Just sucks to get interested in something and then you gotta wait a year to get the next season,especially during the pandemic!
Absolutely agree, I love the show. It’s my second favorite comic book show of all time, second to only Daredevil. One question I have is it makes perfect sense that the butterflies are here to help us stop destroying our planet, but why did they seemingly take over millions of random people across the world? Is it possible that goff just remembered the files on peacemaker and was manipulating him to help her? Either way, hats off to Gunn for making even more sympathetic antagonists than starro. Can’t wait for season 2!

I never thought I would even watch a single episode of this show after seeing him in "The Suicide Squad (2021)" but it's now my favorite show. BTW, the "Vigilante" is my bff.
Expecting little to none from this show, it came up to be quite good.
I think we should all push together to get this to become a great series with 5 seasons +

I have a theory. We know Peacemaker’s father is some sort of quantum physicist. I think he has some sort of quantum entanglement with peacemakers helmets. Since his ghost popped up when peacemaker got near it.
Just finished the last episode, been holding off because i didn't want it to end. Hands down best DC series ever, never laughed so much & never cried so much.
Vigilante is my favorite, I wish someone would talk about what the hell happened when with episode 6 it seems so out of place almost like it wasn't even written by the same person that wrote the rest of the series. All the male characters were extremely stupid way more stupid than normal it just seemed really off and I haven't really come across anyone saying the same thing. If it wasn't for that episode it would be a perfect series.

Just caught up on this. What I liked was that it was like The Suicide Squad meets the animated Harley Quinn, lots of dark and sometimes grotesque humor, but then very deep and humanizing look at the psyche of such characters that often heroes (least not the DC ones) don't give us. It's a complex mix that actually makes me binge a show versus a lot of stuff I tune out on or feel even a bit overwhelmed by. This is just good, intriguing, funny, but also makes you feel a lot.
After the movie I hated the character and didn't think I would watch the show. Of coarse I decided to check it out and holy moly best thing I have seen on TV in years. Vigilante followed by Eagly were my favorite characters.
Hands down the best thing that has come from the DC camp in a long time. Unlikely hero too lol just goes to show there is potential in ALL comic book characters. Just needs to be done with care and love.

Adebayo was literally made for this, they keep foreshadowing with that same line. Her mother even said it in the begining.

willing to bet that Judo Master is gonna be depressed after everything that happened, then Peacemaker will help them get better, which is why in the intro Peacemaker lifts up Judomaster
His father may play a key role in season 2. helping him create new tech and learning to love one another or some shit

I am not going to lie. I never skipped passed the opening credits lol And this is coming from a guy who never watched game of thrones cause I thought the credits were way too damn long. Hell I don't think this is ever happened to me. Its probably best opening credits ever.

I really like the Leota Adebayo character played by Danielle Brooks. Too often (these days) the "underdog"/"Social Justice Warrior Poster Child," is shoehorned into the script, and used as a glaring reminder to the audience of just what big, dumb, ignorant, prejudice, bigots we are.
So, when Leota appeared, and was clearly going to be an important and permanent member of the Peacemaker team, I thought:
"Ungh! He we go again."
I mean, she hits all of the major prejudices: black, gay/lesbian, and not the ideal weight for a woman her height. I expected the character to be shallow (nothing more than her traits), but I was very pleasantly surprised.
Not only did the character herself have depth, and a brilliant journey through the "hero's journey/arc," the actor was superb! She made the audience FEEL the moral and ethical conflict of trying to live up to her mother's expectations and serve her country, and what her actual experience and interactions with her team showed her she was doing wrong by them.
She went from being a doormat, to fighting honorably for the people who had become her actual family. And it was believable. No "Peggy Sue" B.S. She wasn't some kind of Wonder Woman. She wasn't the best fighter. She made mistakes. She was scared. But she continued to fight, regardless of knowing those things, and regardless of the fact that she knew she could likely be killed, defending her friends. She learned, slowly, from her mistakes, and became a stronger person because of them.
THAT is how the hero arc is meant to play out, and the only way it works, without seeming absolutely ridiculous and insulting the audience's intellect.
She's my favorite character. I didn't see that coming. Brilliant show!
One thing I noticed…
At the end when his dad is on the porch with him…
His dad is larger than chris. I hunk it means the dad is now a much larger part of his story.
Point to note. Goff is the first butterfly to be seen on the show in its natural form and the last butterfly to be seen as well. Anyway my favorite character was Murn. He was badass as a leader, but also because of the way he stood up for humanity and our freedom, even turning his back on his own people.
One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. Looking forward to the next season
