Welcome back to my channel! Today, I'm excited to talk about season 2 of Tokyo Vice. We're talking a review of all 10 episodes of the current season airing on Max now! It's one of the better shows you're not talking about.
Synopsis: In 1999, American journalist Jake Adelstein has relocated to Tokyo and must pass a written exam in Japanese to have the chance to join the staff of a major Japanese newspaper. He succeeds in becoming their first foreign-born journalist and starts at the very bottom. Taken under the wing of a veteran detective in the vice squad, he starts to explore the dark and dangerous world of the Japanese yakuza whilst living under the city's official line that "murder does not happen in Tokyo".
Ansel Elgort - Jake Adelstein
Ken Watanabe - Hiroto Katagiri
Rachel Keller - Samantha
Shô Kasamatsu - Sato
Rinko Kikuchi - Eimi
Shun Sugata - Ishida

Loved this show so much! As much as I am bummed that there will be no season three, there really doesn’t need to be one. Season two was phenomenal and wrapped everything up very nicely. I can tell I’ll be rewatching the show a lot in the future.
I agree it doesn't really need one either. It ended perfectly imo.
This show is underrated. Their marketing is barely around. You’re one of the only channels to review it. Amazing show and book!
Thank you!! I completely agree with you. Not enough folks are talking about this show. This season was sooooo good. I'm looking forward to the book.
Love this show and your review!
Thank you so much!! More people need to be talking about this show. This is just a great season of television.
Agreed, season 1 was amazing but season 2 blew me away.
There was so much character development, and everyone had a moment to shine.
Sadly there will be no more a 3 season
I was hesitant to watch because I thought having an American character would make the show phony but I was blown away from episode 1. The show was REALLY well done. Kudos to Ansel too for learning Japanese. 👍🏻
Thanks for checking out my review! Season 2 was just outstanding. Miles ahead of the first season imo. I do still need to read the book it's based off of.
Thank you for your incredible review! It is an impressive show: there is no filler in the plot, no stupid dialogues, no boring characters... I just hope that Sam and Sato give us romantic scenes like those in the first season, will that be the case? Could u confirm that? 😅😊
Hahaha!! I can't confirm that, but I will say the fallout from episode 5 will affect everyone in different ways. Also, thank you for the kind words.
Awesome review! I thought I was the only person that felt that way about Jake’s character. THANK YOU!
I also have the book and I need to read it. This show is awesome. S2 was sooooo good! Yours is the first review I’ve seen on it.
Thanks!! His character really just bothered me. Season 2 just leveled up so hard.
S2 was incredible! When S1 ended and I wasn’t sure about Sato - I was like I’m not watching if he’s not back.
Jake. I remember thinking “I don’t like this guy.”😂
The growth of Sato was amazing. He’s the perfect anti-hero. He’s Yakuza but he’s also merciful and intelligent. He had a heart and he knew when to harden it and when to be soft.
Incredible show! So underrated
Criminally underrated. The second season was outstanding too! It's well made, great pacing, and excellent tension!
@@ohsukahSeason one was great but season two is incredible! According to Jake Adelstein himself season two is the last season, though there were plans to adapt aspects of his other book The Last Yakuza as the basis for a third season which have now been dropped; which I don't mind because the season two finale felt like the perfect series finale and a third season would probably only serve to undermine its own legacy. I'm hoping for an Ishida prequel series chronicling his rise to power within the Chihara Kai, in the same vein as The Godfather Part II! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
