I had the 12’ on vinyl. The remixes took this song to the next level. The deluxe version of this album came roughly 10 years ago. You will find all remixes on that expanded album. As a bonus, this album has Bee Gee backing vocals on more than one track. This is one of her best albums of her later career IMO. Judging your reaction, you will LOVE the complete project. I love this song! My fave Diana Ross songs were from the 80s. She was really experimenting with different sounds and I loved the r&b/pop/rock stuff she put out during this time. I have no idea why this wasn’t a gigantic smash hit. Makes no sense to me, it holds up so well even today and remains one of my favorite Diana songs of all time. Great reaction Dereck!

I love the way you react at the end of the video,asking if Diana has just eaten poor Guy s genitals....well,a few years ago,Barry Gibb admitted the song had a double meaning that MJ had hidden to Diana when writing the lyrics. Many listeners complained about the fact that the song was weird and some kind of cannibalism apology....well the truth as Barry Gibb admitted is that"eaten alive"was a metaphore of a..... blowjob 😅😅

In retrospect, "Chain Reaction" might have been the smart first single (it actually hit #1 in many countries) instead of the second pick --and then "Eaten Alive" as the 2nd single. But in any case, it's FIRE!

This should have been released as a duet with Michael Jackson, it might have got more radio play and chart action. The Eaten Alive album was great, particularly Chain Reaction (no 1 here in Australia), Eaten Alive and the beautiful ballad Experience.
Never heard this one before, but I quite liked it .. Making or not making the charts is not a reliable guide to a song's worth, so that never affects my judgement .. And as far as being eaten alive is concerned, if it's Diana looking like she does here, I could think of many worse ways to go ! 😉😅
