Oh, man. It is very interesting how Mr. Allison has acquired so much knowledge throughout his young life; I am glad there are still a few gentlemen like him. For us, I believe, it is a blessing to have him sharing all his knowledge that would take us years for us to learn/master by our own (traveling, meeting a lot of new people that master one specific art, etc). As a college student who is beginning to think of dressing properly, I salute you and thank you for sharing your knowledge Mr. Allison.

I think you jumping in to help with the guest's shoeshine is a nice format change that improves the flow of the conversation and video, as you've done in this video. Great idea Kirby.

What I appreciate most about your videos is your genuine appreciation for the details. You really are holding down the fort for these traditional craftsman and their wares as well as the gentlemanly mindset that goes with it all. Keep up the good work sir.

I am very much a fan and supporter, and I really enjoy your quality videos, this one included. May i kindly suggest that in future videos, please allow your guest to speak without you regularly interjecting "okay"? As an example, I really enjoy listening to Steven Dubner as he interviews guests on Freakonomics Radio. . .very clean. Thanks for what you do!!

Kirby, thank you for another great video. I’m considering buying some additional ties as I think it’s time to expand my collection. I currently have a nice collection of grenadine grossa fina ties in what I would consider to be perennial colors including navy blue, dark red burgundy, and forest green among others. I think the ancient madder ties you sell are beautiful and I most likely will purchase some of those. My question to you is regarding your basket weave ties which are also beautiful. Does the basket weave refer to the printed pattern on the ties or are the ties woven using a basket weave technique?

Kirby and gents, do you have a different brush for every color to prevent cross contamination?

As I've gotten older, I care increasingly about the hand of my ties. Little by little I thin the herd, mainly getting rid of ties that look nice but are just too thick and heavy. Don't like the way they drape and feel, both when tying them and wearing them.

The edges could use some darker brown show cream too Kirby.

Loake?! Robert obviously needs to be persuaded by you, Kirby, to invest in something more upmarket than mass market. All of my Loakes leaked after a year or two so I stopped buying them. Maybe they’ve improved in recent years.
Everyone should buy at least one Ancient Madder tie - they just look so beautiful compared to most silk ties.

Depends what line of Loake you go for; the Loake 1880 and 1880 Legacy are higher quality and absolutely great.
