    Another great review, their is definitely something in the mass centralization concept for sure, glad you pointed that out. Really looking forward to some woods riding comparos. Will be interesting to see how luggable the Yz is in the woods. Thanks again!

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Рік тому

      Thanks! I think the mass centralization combined with the low engine braking and free feeling engine make for a responsive to inputs 450F that kind of does not feel like a 450F. I did some back to back woods rides today with my 300XC and some trail rides on the YZ450F and will post some videos soon...stay tuned!

      @@mxengineer1hey man, your videos are always fun to watch. Question. With the Yamaha tuner app, is there a good bit of adjustment you can make? I’m thinkin of going up to 450 and I think it would be great if I could dial it back and as I get more comfortable, slowly increase the power to it….

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Рік тому

      @@rkade3765 Yes making changes to the fuel and ignition settings can change the character of the engine. Realize it is still a YZ450 with a downdraft intake that revs like a 2-stroke! Here is my '350' map review - just retarded the ignition (could have richened the fuel to smooth it even more)....ua-cam.com/video/MsJrtPo70xg/v-deo.html

      Sorry to hear your YZ450 is delayed. I have waited a while for this one...from original delivery date of November 2022 to February 2023. It is worth the wait!

    Hell yeah bro been waiting for this !!! And today before I opened up I was like .. I hope he has done a review random as I went in and sat on a kx450 I been thinking about getting a 22 kx450 all the reviews and UA-cam vids keep saying it’s easy good for taller bigger riders …. And boom you do one !!
    I Watched the swap moto vid yzf is the 2/3 favourite for the bigger taller guys they said. so here’s my question ! I know your tallish and I told ya ages ago how I was cramped as f on my 21 yzf450 !!
    seat bouncing everything on the pro track standing felt sh.
    So you got the ktm the kx yz what’s the comfiest for taller bigger dudes !? Im ready buy one and sucks I can’t get a ride on one before hand haha
    I’m thinking the new yz or kx 2022 model and pick one up cheap as $7200 aud -6k usd vs $13k aud yzf

      Adam - thanks for watching and glad you enjoy the channel! I got to spin a few laps on a new '22 KX450 last weekend - have not posted the video yet. My buddy bought it for $6999 USD...such a deal! Plush and friendly and easy to ride and adapt to even after 1-lap. I can understand why it still wins shootouts. I was not a fan of the previous YZ250/450F layouts - too cramped for my 6'2" 190 lbs. The new '23 YZ450F feels great with good room from seat to pegs and seat to bars. The seat is tall though which is not good for shorter riders. Honda ergos always "just feel right" and still do. If I had to rank them maybe Honda #1, Yamaha #2, KTM #3, KX #4...all more than acceptable for me. Hard to pass up the deals on KX450's but they will not have the agility/fun factor of the '23 YZ450...but you gotta pay to play! Good luck with whatever new bike you pick..there are no wrong choices!

      @@mxengineer1 damm that is interesting really making me think now hahah!! Thanks for the reply to mate appreciate it. Honestly I haven’t herd of the Honda being great for the taller riders this is the first time I’ve herd !? May have to look into this. All I really care about is being comfy power doesn’t mean much all 450s are great power and more then enough for wheelies and getting over any jump. So maybe this yamy is the go taller seat already hmm :/ and sounds like allot of fun if it’s light for whips etc. but your saying the crf is the winner for the taller peeps that’s really interesting is that the 23 model or 22 ? And yep the kx I can get great deal it’s not brand new though so …. Anything could be wrong if there selling it. the guy said it’s his practice bike got 30 hours on it I’d be saving $6000 so that’s a big win! so so many decisions right now it’s hard !!! How’s the kx ergos feel compared to Honda yz ? like what’s different or what makes Honda feel good for the taller dudes !? My bad for the questions but you the man to ask with no biased opinions ! Appreciated it always !

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Рік тому

      @@adamrochester1 I don't want to say (even though I did rank them) the CRF ergos are the best - just they seem to work for lots of riders. The new '23 YZ450F feels very good now too! The KX ergos are the most adjustable off the showroom floor - but the ones I've ridden have been stock and felt very good. Ergos are fairly easy to adjust on most bikes (except previous YZ450's which had the wide shrouds).

      @@mxengineer1 hmmm I have my self a situation lol. The nimbleness does seem fun there hasn’t been a bad report about the yz yet either all positive specially the swap moto for bigger dudes. I’m a big blue fan and your saying it’s way better then other yz models and you even had a problem in the past to !
      The crf is it the 23 WE dunno how easy it is to get that where I am …. your talking about or like 22 crfs as well ?
      I’ve almost had blue my hole life. Fun part of me says kx to try something new. And save some $$. Maybe I’ll try ask if any places have a 22 sitting there. Get a better deal. I had a Honda xr100 first bike always loved Hondas

      @mxengineer1  Рік тому +1

      @@adamrochester1 The new '23 YZ450F feels like no other previous YZ450F - totally different ergos and just the overall feel of the bike...it is quick handling and agile and ergos feel really good. The '21 CRF450R was all new and that is the current layout (WE or regular model). The '23 CRF450R/WE got some updates to frame rigidity, engine (cylinder head, 2mm smaller throttle body, exhaust header/muffler, engine mapping), new suspension settings. Much smoother power which helps calm the chassis (a little). Maybe time to go crazy and try a Kawasaki and Let the Good Times Roll;)

    Great video!!! That bike looks like a great starting point for an offroad GNCC style racer, your first couple minutes with that off idle smooth response in the field, most 450 mx bikes will not be that smooth, especially when brand new! Looking forward to a future Offroad head to head review with a few of your other bikes!

    I have a 450f 19 model. What do you think is the difference

    • @mxengineer1
      @mxengineer1  Рік тому +1

      You will find a chassis/handling/agility/ergo difference if you jump on a '23 YZ450F compared to your 2019 model. The new engine may feel a bit smoother/softer at the initial turn of the throttle but with a 1.5 lbs lighter clutch (less rotating inertia) and a little over 5lb reduction in weight and 50mm thinner width around radiator shrouds the ergos will feel much different. You will also notice a quicker responding and reactive front end - less planted than your 19 YZ450F. Some riders may prefer the previous YZ450F character over the new bike. If you get a chance to ride the '23 YZ450F let us know your thoughts!

    Sounds very friendly down low. I think engine braking can make or break a 450. Back when there were 10,000 cam grinds for the CRF450's I used to experiment with it. The old gas gas 450's used to come with a sutter slipper clutch which removed all engine braking, so nice.
