Johnny is actually performing something interesing singwise... The sound is snotty but obviously he could continue that way the next 48 hours... He employes the false chords and actually keeps the larynx pretty relaxed. Many may not understand but the best classical singing traditions can be presented partially or fully in many many ways... Johnny is a musician and doing a quite nice job here (and on other pieces too). Never judge the book by its cover ;)
I'm a life long protestant Christian. Even though I was never a fan of the "Anti-Christ" verse, I did love this band. Johnny Rotten was based then... he's based now. We need this style of Punk Rock back.
Way ahead of their time, great band. Would have been fun to see what else they could've done. Too bad they only had one album. This song is totally relevant for these days
Sorry, I couldn't help but notice.. Sex Pistols are punk. Real punk. British, Londonian, anarchist punk. Punkrock is everything from Green Day to Avril Lavigne ... it can have political agenda like left punk, the stuff antifa listens to, but this was the real punk. Basically they didn't learn instruments, their agenda was noise and provocation, they hated everyone, including their band, but they hated the rest more. Oh and if you water punk rock down until you coe across Blink182 you're left with punk pop. Which - is nice, but hardly trv anymore. I guess punk don't day trv that's a metal thing, but it's the equivalent. Sex pistols are punk. The real stuff.
@@galacticguardian2783 eventually they did, but the German punkrock band "die toten hosen" (the dead pants) famously alotted instruments by drawing out tickets, so I know at least one case where they in fact did not know their instruments when they started the band. Now I won't say all punks are shyte at their instruments, but in my mind I associate punks far more with a high dedication to being punk, than with a virtuoso musician culture... In fact Imma go ahead and say punks who can play their instruments usually play metal XDDD (of course this is a gross generalisation, sue me XD)

@@galacticguardian2783 Oh you actually listened to them, cool! You might have missed that they were founded in 1982, so they did in fact learn their respective instruments over the course of time.. Also they are way less punk than they used to be, which is why I'd comfortably classify them as Punk Rock, sometimes even somewhat Pop-Punk these days ^^ But yeah, I have heard - and I've hard this story quite often - that they started off with randomly drawn instruments, which sounds pretty punk to me ^^
Oasis were just a dickhead make up lets try copy the Beatles style to be famous. And that's it basically. Just fake copies with non of their own style. To finish it off the Gallagher's are just complete idiots who get pissed and make that an excuse to argue about who tried to shag their mum first. Their seriously thick as Pikeys!! ca me donne les larmes aux yeux de réécouter ce track.. plus jamais on aura de génies pareil...j'aurais tant voulu être déjà adulte pendant cette période et la vivre en "live", malheureusement j'étais un bébé lol
It’s funny (and kind of sad) that most of the footage shows Sid on the base, but there’s footage here and there if Glen Matlock.
is this the right time to play this?
Damn right it is why because we're punks
Johnny is actually performing something interesing singwise... The sound is snotty but obviously he could continue that way the next 48 hours... He employes the false chords and actually keeps the larynx pretty relaxed. Many may not understand but the best classical singing traditions can be presented partially or fully in many many ways... Johnny is a musician and doing a quite nice job here (and on other pieces too). Never judge the book by its cover ;)
Anybody here in 2019?
yeah DESTROY... still am and wanna be
DESTROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYY
I am here in 2019...was never a Punk, am Black and 68 years old and this is THE greatest song in all Rock and Roll history.
Nope
Not me im on the moon
I'm a life long protestant Christian. Even though I was never a fan of the "Anti-Christ" verse, I did love this band. Johnny Rotten was based then... he's based now. We need this style of Punk Rock back.
sex pistols and the clash are still the best punk-rock band ever.
Way ahead of their time, great band. Would have been fun to see what else they could've done. Too bad they only had one album. This song is totally relevant for these days
One of the best songs if not the best in punk rock music
@@sarumanork-orphanage5612 i doubt that they didn't learn instruments
@@galacticguardian2783 eventually they did, but the German punkrock band "die toten hosen" (the dead pants) famously alotted instruments by drawing out tickets, so I know at least one case where they in fact did not know their instruments when they started the band.
Now I won't say all punks are shyte at their instruments, but in my mind I associate punks far more with a high dedication to being punk, than with a virtuoso musician culture...
In fact Imma go ahead and say punks who can play their instruments usually play metal XDDD
(of course this is a gross generalisation, sue me XD)
@@sarumanork-orphanage5612 these guys don't sound like beginners to me. Atleast writing wise. But then again musicianship is something i care about maybe that's why i prefer metal lol
@@galacticguardian2783 Oh you actually listened to them, cool!
You might have missed that they were founded in 1982, so they did in fact learn their respective instruments over the course of time..
Also they are way less punk than they used to be, which is why I'd comfortably classify them as Punk Rock, sometimes even somewhat Pop-Punk these days ^^
But yeah, I have heard - and I've hard this story quite often - that they started off with randomly drawn instruments, which sounds pretty punk to me ^^
such a nice song, wish the U.K was a real place.
Damn I loved the 70's !!
Essa banda tranformou o rock em algo bem legal de se cultuar. Adoro o Sex Pistols, Ramones e o The Who.
Please speak english or froggies but here nobody
Como dizem agora em 2022, " DERAM O NOME " na época punk rock era SEX PISTOLS . saudades.

As Noel Gallagher said, as soon as Johnny rotten starts “anti singing “ every thing that went before it became irrelevant
Who the fk is Noel Gallagher? Never heard of him
@@campagnolocampagnolo7842 very famous musician
@@campagnolocampagnolo7842 Musical Genius among other things
Oasis were just a dickhead make up lets try copy the Beatles style to be famous. And that's it basically. Just fake copies with non of their own style. To finish it off the Gallagher's are just complete idiots who get pissed and make that an excuse to argue about who tried to shag their mum first. Their seriously thick as Pikeys!! Why do want to call them a genius? Their crap with instruments to be honest. Sorry to say it. Each to their own in what you like?
timaster1 timaster2 hehe from America them at was my take on em!
Fuck ya! Loved this shit in high school. Used to notice anarchy spray painted a lot then, not so much anymore

The Great rock and Roll Swindle.
Legend.
Love this track now as much as I did in 1977
Also - finding out the whole style of this album came from Peter Hammill's Nadir's Big Chance - makes me enjoy it even more - a total two fingers up to the elitist types who sneered at the "establishment" at the exact time punk became the mainstream fashion de jeur.
32 years later though - I'm still writing post punk riffs.
I play the guitar a bit and i can say in full confidence that Steve Jones was the backbone of their sound , he was a fucking brilliant guitarist and the sex pistols created some of the greatest original punk anthems that will last for ever. If anything they were so underrated.
one of the best songs of all time
Definitely in my top 4 songs of all time!
