I really don't get why Chad is so insistent on staying with one band when there's people like Corey Taylor out here playing and touring with 3 different bands
Not only is Ryan an absolute beast of a player, he's one of the most down to earth, humble people you'll hear. He's always in a good mood and talking about how thankful he is and how great what he gets to do. A really good role model for any player.
If I only heard the sound of that bass...I would've thought Chuck Norris was dabbling in Bass Guitar... I miss Mudvayne, and this guy really inspires on the bass...
Damn this comment is 2 years old haha, if you're still interested Ryan has a side project called Soften The Glare, they're pretty fantastic and they have an album coming out very soon
I'm begging you Warwick, stop using that mic for a bass combo. It needs something better, any condenser mic, like Neumann U 87, AKG 414 or any other equivalent. That's would be really great, cause it will bring out the exact natural tone from the speaker, our beloved Sound of Wood. Good luck and thanks for all the stuff you create!
Those really fast five note (I think its actually a triplet plus two eighth notes?) is awesome, do you pop on the same string with your fingers to do it?
I love him , but i mentioned one thing about him, he doesnt use the low B string much, just like a thumb rest. I know, that he did play for some time in Mudvayne with 4 string thumb
He's one of my favorite bassists next to Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse, Mike "Mike Hawkizzard" Kocian former bassist to Psychostick, and Lemmy from Motorhead
He's an amazing bassist, I miss Mudvayne, Hellyeah is a great band but I fell in love with Mudvayne's music first. I would like to see him play the Seinfeld theme, haha.
well, officially he doesn't, but he ''replaced'' fieldy in band named korn ( i am sure you know them ) cuz fieldy got a kid so ryan went on tour with them :) hope i helped !
Not EVEN dude, John Entwistle of The Who was doing that same technique in the early 1970s, probably before Ryan was even an itch in his daddy's pants. Don't take me wrong, I like Ryan's stuff, but that technique is NOT something "he came up with". He's even admitted he copped it from Entwistle in a Bass Player mag interview (the one where he is all blue). Give credit where credit is due.
This is a dude that knows his instrument through and through dude. Ryan Martinie. I fuckin dig Korn too. You can see the talent man. Whatever you do rip that bass to shit then tell her its ok to go on the rack for a bit.
Look up John Entwistle, bass player of The Who. He called it the "typewriter technique". Basically you tap your plucking fingers on the fingerboard like you're slapping. If you hit the right spot you can even get harmonics out of it. I haven't heard many interviews from Ryan but I'm pretty sure that's where he got the inspiration from.
This dude's work on L.D. 50 is and always will be my favorite heavy metal bass performance.
I was telling a fellow bass player buddy of mine that very thing last week.
yess
Agreed !
fuckin right man. he OWNS L.D. 50!!!! awesome fuckin bass on that album. its stellar.
DUDE! EVERY SINGLE.FUCKING.SONG! Internal Primates, Death Blooms ... Pharmacopoeia.
I would absolutely buy a record of Ryan just jamming.
Just like Buckethead
Soften the glare is basically just that with a power trio
Me too!!
Or to simply have a mic in his jam room
Would be cool to get him and Evan brewer together
I’m honestly surprised no major band grabbed him once Mudvayne went on “hiatus”
it takes a seriously unique band to keep up. I mean the last mudvayne albums were trash anyways but still he is a beast
Maybe he just wants to do his thing on Soften the Glare
@@Rikarwb
Yup
Maybe he doesn't give a damn what Rogelio and Josh want him to do
😎
He did play a few live shows with Korn after Fieldy had to deal with some family things a while back
He filled in for Fieldy from Korm for a few shows while his daughter was born. That was pretty cool
Ive always though Wes Borland, and Ryan should have done something together. Easily the 2 most unrecognized best musicians in Nu-Metal.
I’ve always thought a collaboration between Wes and les clay pool would be cool, but Ryan is an interesting idea!
That’s what I’m saying right there!!!!
Ryan was in a nu-metal band, but he's a progressive bassist. Trujillo is the same, he really wanted to be with Meshuggah but got Metallica instead 😏
Agree 100%. Very cool comment
If Ryan just toured the world himself jamming on stage for an hour I'd happily pay a shitload of money to see him work his magic!
+Scott Boyd HELL YEAH!! Oops, I didn't choose the right words for the moment... So, let's star again: OF COURSE I WOULD DO IT TOO!
Every time I watch Ryan, another cell in my body hates "hell yeah" a little more.
Why?
Thats like saying I hate water everytime i breathe.
Chad really needs to quit playing cowboy
Ryan's new band is pretty epic
I really don't get why Chad is so insistent on staying with one band when there's people like Corey Taylor out here playing and touring with 3 different bands
One of the most underrated bassists in history; and, I am not a metal person, for the most part.
I agree 100%, his lines in L.D. 50 are incredible
Since when was he underrated
Dudes got Forearms like Popeye!
Hahaha too funny
Thanks to spinach, man)
Not only is Ryan an absolute beast of a player, he's one of the most down to earth, humble people you'll hear. He's always in a good mood and talking about how thankful he is and how great what he gets to do. A really good role model for any player.
Here after mudvayne reunion announcement
Ryan: Sweet! *Hands bass over*
Warwick: No, say something about it, we're trying to sell these things.
The most talented musician from the numetal era for sure.
That style is un-fucking-mistakable. Ryknow for the win.
Ryan is one of my fav bass players, if this guy meets Brann Dailor, the fucking Milky way explodes!!!!
Yes please
He should form a side project with Joey Jordison. Two monsters working together
+Ban ‘Takumi Usui’ Mido joey is a fat these days, he can't play those fast things anymore
Merry Janssen Well he is still the best nu metal drummer.
I rather want a nu metal band where joey is on drums, ryan on bass and tech n9ne on vocals
Dude...let's figure out how that could happen.
John5 and Buckethead
then mikael akerfeldt
Well call it....
ZombieMudChickenBath
Joey jordison on drums, ryan martinie on bass, jonathan davis on vocals, Daran malakian on guitar perfect nu metal band
Liam Riddell Yeah, in 2001.
at 1:31 if you listen closely, you can hear Mario going down the pipe
how do you even catch that?
This guy has been my favorite bass player since LD50... period. Class, taste, intelligence, and groove... love love love this guy.
You forgot style 😉
I know most people are here for mudvayne but can anyone else appreciate how this guy is all about playing and minimal fluff talk.
One of the best bass players at world..
I can literally watch this guy play the bass for hours
If I only heard the sound of that bass...I would've thought Chuck Norris was dabbling in Bass Guitar...
I miss Mudvayne, and this guy really inspires on the bass...
Ryan is one of the greatest bassists of all time, seriously amazing.
What’s that first technique he does ? It’s like a mix of tap and slap I’ve been tryna learn it since I saw him use it in happy
ua-cam.com/video/dR4HugvDQt4/v-deo.html
I believe, you can find an answer here.
Молодчага! Что тут скажешь? Мой любимый басист.
Man...he sure loves his tritones :D
00:34 how the fuck. I've spent quite a while trying to figure out how to play that rapid muted triplet slap thing. Anyone got a tutorial?
you mean that triple pop? he probably uses either inder middle and ring finger to pop 3 highest strings or same but switch ring finger to thumb.
I miss mudvayne.
Come tour Australia... I need to see beautiful and strange live just once.
Gimme a HELLYEAH if you wanna see Mudvayne get back together!!!!!
Hell ya
It’s still not happened :(
..is semi hollow!!nice..
he's just THAT fast
**insert fingered girl joke here**
+Miguel López Hahahaha!
she died
Everyone needs to check out soften the glare. He is still making amazing music
Is there some new Ryan Martinie material coming up?
Dear InvictusBananman, the newest material is this interview: ua-cam.com/video/BaCi5gyVrW4/v-deo.html .
Best regards, Michael.
Framus & Warwick Wow, thanks a lot. It sounds awesome :)
Long as I live I will never quite understand Martinie’s right hand technique sometimes
The guy who made me want to play bass in the first place, and also the one that introduced me to Warwick.
we need more ryan. I think I speak for all of us.
I second that
Those really fast five note (I think its actually a triplet plus two eighth notes?) is awesome, do you pop on the same string with your fingers to do it?
That tune at the start though. Is that actually a piece of music? You know when the logo pops up and the globe. It just sticks in my mind :D
His fingers can crush a Nokiah.
His bass playing was one thing about Mudvayne that always stood out to me. I miss that band.
what was the first bassline that Ryan played?? it sounded so sick
Abraços do Brasil, Ryan!
I would be extremely intimidated if I saw him in real life.
His stature isnt like that
Ryan is an absolute stud. Reform Mudvayne! ;-)
*preceed to violate that bass* "sweet" D:
0:21 god I love that twisted sound the bass makes when he taps the strings
fucking right hand tech....
Greatest metal bassist no doubt
Robotic hand
If you give boots from him, R-Know makes a song hahahahaha
Awesome guy! The best!
I love him , but i mentioned one thing about him, he doesnt use the low B string much, just like a thumb rest. I know, that he did play for some time in Mudvayne with 4 string thumb
0:55 Though?
He's one of my favorite bassists next to Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse, Mike "Mike Hawkizzard" Kocian former bassist to Psychostick, and Lemmy from Motorhead
He's an amazing bassist, I miss Mudvayne, Hellyeah is a great band but I fell in love with Mudvayne's music first.
I would like to see him play the Seinfeld theme, haha.
His missus must love him ;)
If you want to play pretty things, This is probably the one to get... 1:48
I will. Compression is not so awful.
It would be really nice if Warwick wrote about recording equipment used for their videos.
well, officially he doesn't, but he ''replaced'' fieldy in band named korn ( i am sure you know them ) cuz fieldy got a kid so ryan went on tour with them :)
hope i helped !
For those of you that need more Ryan, check out his new band Soften The Glare!!
ua-cam.com/video/SGUmndq2WuM/v-deo.html
Please Warwick, make more Ryan videos!!!
by far personally the best bass player ever
Not EVEN dude, John Entwistle of The Who was doing that same technique in the early 1970s, probably before Ryan was even an itch in his daddy's pants. Don't take me wrong, I like Ryan's stuff, but that technique is NOT something "he came up with". He's even admitted he copped it from Entwistle in a Bass Player mag interview (the one where he is all blue). Give credit where credit is due.
TURN THE VOLUME UP!!! make it look like a lot of work and cant hear shit!!! 🏓
His fingers are like tiny chuck Norris's fighting for dominance...and that is all!
love the way he jst casually pisses all over 99% of bass players by f**king around improvising, then stops and says.... "sweet".
He looks fit :O
A bass god
Surprising Thundercat didn’t go for one of these instead of the Ibanez.
Soften the glare is my favorit prog Band.
He is in my opinion a great bassist.
Does anyone happen to know what the song is at the beginning of everyone of warwick's video's? So awesome.
This is a dude that knows his instrument through and through dude. Ryan Martinie. I fuckin dig Korn too. You can see the talent man. Whatever you do rip that bass to shit then tell her its ok to go on the rack for a bit.
I think it's his own technqiue he came up with. Just tapping the strings against the fretboard.
This guy should form a full on death metal band, something like Atheist.
Imagine if he joined slipknot???
HOLLY ...FUCKING ...SHIT THAAAAT WAAAAS EPIC WHAT THE FUUUCK AND HE SAYS HE ISNT ONE OF THE BEST?
What is that technique in the beggining of the video?? two fingers thumb?? awesome!!
Oh or be a product specialist...insane
I love the way his hands look when he plays.
Like you'd be able to tell the difference after youtube compresses the audio...lol
He is completely a showman
You can tell dude was not only heavily influenced by metal, but also funk as well.
Ryan should team up with Joey Jordison
Don’t know why Slipknot didn’t get this guy..
ahhhh ryan a man of few words i guess he lets his fingers do the talking
fucking hell this dude is SMOOTH
Dude, man it looks like his right hand was sped up if you look at it lol bamf lol
common ryan pls bring back mudvayne
whats the form of tapping called?
He has a really interesting technique but i dont fully understand it though
Look up John Entwistle, bass player of The Who. He called it the "typewriter technique". Basically you tap your plucking fingers on the fingerboard like you're slapping. If you hit the right spot you can even get harmonics out of it.
I haven't heard many interviews from Ryan but I'm pretty sure that's where he got the inspiration from.
Gonna watch death blooms live after this one 😅
The reason i lay down the low end is this dude
Awesome souding bass
You choose the wrong microphone
I think it would be cool if Ryan did a few videos describing his bass lines from L.D. 50 and how he approached them creatively.
The video has that 'Dig' glitchy vibe.
That looks super easy :p
Ryan tapped before Tosin.
Nice base probably expensive vinyl Warwick... Anyway, you're right great resonance would like to get an acoustic like that.
Ryan Martinie solo album, anyone?
