The 13-14 championship run with the Spurs and 04 Gold in Athens was truly glorious event.
Manu was a no brainer not only because of his accomplishments in every place he played. Euroleague MVP and winner, 4x NBA champion, Sixth Man, "almost" MVP Finals in 2005, gold medalist (the only different gold medal besides the US since 1992) and so on. But the thing that makes this guy a 1st ballot is how he approached the game in his NBA career where he put 1st the team, 2nd the team and 3rd the team being an easy 22, 5, 5 in any other team. That is one of the most rare things ever. To me, he is the ultimate team player. The role model if you want to put the team before you in every aspect (stats, salary and so on) knowing that you have a high chance to become a winner doing so. Something that just doesn't happen in the NBA.
I think the team thing is because he played basketball in Argentina as a kid. Every basketball coach I had talked about the team being the only thing that mattered, we don't have lebron james, so we all built our plays around teamplay. Manu Ginobili is one of the few players in basketball history where HE chose to give up INDIVIDUAL greatness, to make his team deeper and more dominant (which obviously worked).
