Those who are old enough, will remember the incredibly talented Irish comedian Dave Allen. Even though he 'insulted' every race, creed, religion, nation, etc., everybody found his jokes hilarious and always looked forward to his weekly show. But imagine if he performed that comedy today?... he'd be literally locked up!!!
have liked Dave Allen for many years..as a child born in the 60s its clear to millions of us the serious decline in televised comedy. Freddie Starr i liked too...and still do.
Even though? It's because he joked about those things that he was funny!
At that time we had a sense of humour. Now there is woke. It's going to be removed from now we've had enough of fascists.
Dave Allen was brilliant. As a youngster, I'd never, miss his shows on the TV. His jokes about religion were edgy, especially in the context of being a catholic from RoI, but always comical and resonated with people. Always liked the fact that he ended most of the shows with the line, ''and may your god go with you''. Sadly missed, but thanks to UA-cam folk can still enjoy the fellas humoour.
Charlie Williams, Bernard Manning, people have lost their sense of humour.
It was disgraceful what they did to Andrew.

Cancel culture is evil and Andrew's joke was completely justified... if they'd all scored then their race would have been most relevant and that hypocrisy needs to be called out.
But Andrew recently let his rage get the better of him and joined in the cancelling of Hugh Edwards. As far as we know, Edwards did nothing illegal but Andrew and others decided to 'take offense' and took to the internet to call him a nonce... as if they've never seen any porn featuring teenagers! People either believe in free speech or they don't. They either oppose cancel culture or they don't. Come on Andrew... you can do better!

Andrew Lawrence is one of those comedians who goes where others fear to tread . Alot of other comedians have backed off because of tye Politically Correct , Wokefullness , backlash . But andrew has proven he's got tye ginger balls to rise up against those who are easily offended . Fair play to that man 👍

As a teacher in london schools for decades i can state that I've witnessed racism from all types of bame people towards other bame people and sexual language and abuse towards white girls from bame pupils....very rarely do white pupils act like this.

A really super honest guy with superb wit. He didn't deserve to be treated so badly!
He's obviously wrong in describing Bukayo Saka as mixed-race, and both parents of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are black too, and he described them as mixed-race also. I don't know what jokes he has made about this, but apparently he does jokes about black athletes. If he doesn't have much knowledge of these subjects, he shouldn't be including them in his act. And there's no difference in athletic ability between races, whatever people think. The subject should be off-limits for comedians.
@@basylpeterjones He might be intending to minimise the inference of racism by using the term 'mixed race' instead of 'black', irrespective of accuracy. The reason some people think there IS a difference in athletic ability is probably based on results of athletic events over a protracted period. For example, it's hard to argue against the idea that there are many athletes of African descent who excel and dominate in certain events, like sprints and long distance running. It's also fair to say, albeit for various reasons that there are very few black swimmers competing at the highest level. It might be merely perceptual but until the numbers change that's the way it looks. Incidentally, I think Andrew Lawrence has plenty of knowledge of football. And why should any subject be off limits? I watched two black comedians appearing on the same bill as this guy who made plenty of jokes about themselves and white people (usually based on stereotypes), and no one was offended, apart from a Guardian journalist who sat sternly a few rows behind me. She then wrote a scathing article about Andrew Lawrence and the ethics of the venue which had booked him.
I don't think a racist is the worst thing you can be accused of being. I think Murder, Rapist, Pedo, Child abuser or Domestic Abuser are all far worse things that one can be accused of being.

Comedians tell the truth. Finding humour in life - especially it's controversies and dark corners - is necessary for highlighting our often absurd experiences of the human condition and coping with them.
Andrew Lawrence is a brave and funny young man; I'm glad to see him back on the comedy circuit. Shame on the narrow-minded despots that tried to cancel his career...they deserve to be ridiculed. Now that would be funny!
I remember seeing for the first time on Live at The Apollo first time, his humour then was much more irreverent and obviously safer for a mainstream audience than it is now. Some of his videos though wer absolutely hilarious and gave me a damn good laugh during that crazy time everyone wants to forget

As an Irishman I used to tell the "Englishman, Irishman, Scotsman" jokes. That's because I have a sense of humour and could actually see it for what it was, a joke.

I follow Andrew and am glad to see him on GB News at last. He is talented and an accurate social commentator in my opinion. The "Talking Head" characterisations he did were funny and thought provoking. Hope he appears on GBN again soon.
