- Bulkhead vs Sill Alignment issues ? We fit new floor plates and identify a couple alignment issues. rather than force or fudge, we make some adjustments and do what we can. the level of frustration this week is high... extremely cold out or wet or both ! Floor plates from DDS metal Services.
According to the parts catalog it should be a washer under the floor screws. That will cover the holes. :)
I think i would have gone for the neoprene gaskets and bolted it down tight and see where it bent! I think when you consider the amount of work you have had to do in welding and reconstruction it is no surprise the holes dont line up perfectly! Quite surprising in fact that they lined up as well as they did! Remember the old adage about not tightening any bolts till you have got them all in, but how far back can you apply that on a rebuild. The guys at LR always said they were buggers to build! Then of course you don’t know how well the holes in the new floors are drilled. You will triumph, you always do!

Stack up tolerance can really wind up a mess in the end!
I can’t decide if this error is mainly down to component parts or my assuming they were spot on - as you say, little errors add up OR, I just messed up when I built the bulkhead 😳
Mat you really need a medal mate, despite the work you put into it I'd probably burn it if it was giving me the same amount of grief 😂

ive said it before but this is a level beyond 'restoration' - you're basically building a landrover by hand from sheet stock.

There's this terrible, perverse corner in my mind where, after you've made the very last weld, bolted the very last bolt, you close the door, the chassis goes *ping* as it settles out all the stresses from various adjustments, and there's only 3 wheels left on the ground.

My memory says: Those door cill plates had smal "L" shaped l return plates underneath for the 2 bolts (into bulkhead) , this would raise them up at the front! HTH
Possibly, I’ve not seen original S3 ones only the aftermarket defender ones available. There’s every chance I messed up when I repaired the originals and didn’t add sufficient plate height. It’s certainly easier after the mod’ to fit the bolts through to the bulkhead foot
