New subcriber! Just wanted to share this before I watch the video. My daughter (12 years old) and I recently discovered your channel and absolutely adore you! She enjoys watching you create and finds you very funny, and I so appreciate that you are family friendly. Thank you for what you do. You are inspiring my girl and for that I am grateful. You are a gem, and we are big fans!🤩
Barbara - My daughter has been watching Mira since she was 11 or 12. I, too, have always loved and appreciated Mira for having a family friendly channel. She's just a great gal! Welcome to the "art family!"
I belong to a co-op gallery, and I do oil painting. All my frames that my work is in is gently used thrift store finds. Frames (some of them great quality) at a fraction of the cost. Helps keep my "cost" down on my work, and less in the land fill.
I admire your creativity with making affordable home decor but your REAL strength is in creating art. I just retired after 40 years in the art business and trust me when I say your time is wasted on decor. You should be pursuing your art career. Many publisher hire artists to create art for their catalogues. I love the little painting with the striped leaves. Keep painting.
The second picture frame that you did with the picture inside that says “angels watching over me”reminds me so much of my grandmother. When I was a little kid she used to sing a song to me and my brother. That was part of the song. She past when I was very young, I miss her so much. ❤
My dad gave me a bunch of old frames to put art in like this and I haven’t had the inspiration to do it till your video!! ❤ your such an inspiration. Having your twins and keeping up with your channel I have 3 kids none of them twins and I don’t have much time for art right now seeing your videos fills that space for me till I have the time again.
Just as a tip from a former framer, the reason that the inside of the mats are yellowed and "match the frame" is because they are not acid free mats and they have yellowed over time. I'm not saying not to use them, but they will cause any artwork in the frame to yellow as well over time. Love your stuff!
I loved the houses painting!! Wasn't keen on the frame but it's just not my style. I think you should definitely do more of these videos! And I think a cool fun idea would be to do bookmarks! Botanical greenhouse bookmarks!! More greenhouses!! Love them!!
The pink building reminds me of this old town I drive through in a forgotten part of Texas. A small main street is flanked by brick storefronts, but almost all are just facades. The roofs caved in, windows broken out, and wooden pieces salvaged. It's surreal and incredibly cool. I need to stop for photos sometime but I'm always in such a hurry to get back home.
I love the idea of creating art to fit the frame, like the long stretch of street scene for the long narrow frame, as opposed to trying to find a frame to fit the art! And i love a street scene, especially a Christmas one, with people walking with their gift purchases!! Our class made one in Fourth grade, and it always thrilled me..., i think it's imagining the little town and the different people in the buildings, and walking on the street, each doing their own thing!!! Just makes me so happy! 🥹❤️❤️❤️
You know what i really love about you mira? Youre so raw and real and relatable. I love that you can see your work room for all that it is. I love that there are different projects and supplies and materials everywhere. Its comforting because thats what real artists rooms look like. Some artists channels you dont see that, its just white and clean and orderly and it drives me crazy because theres no way that is realistic. But you have a beautiful home and your work space is free for everyone to see exactly the way most people have their spaces looking.
Yesss!!! I'm so here for this thrift store makeover / customisation series! ❤ I LOVE the plant painting, it goes so well with that frame. Can't wait to see what you'll do with the other items.
Mira - Ellie and I would LOVE it if you made this a regular series! We love to go thrifting and are always amazed at the home decor that is priced well and can be up-cycled into something cool.
Omg, you are adorable. I love this. Just found your channel this morning and I thought this was just going to be a fun thrift flip video, which I LOVE, but then you started painting and I was all 😱 “GIRL’S GOT TALENT!!” ❤
I luv ur art work and wld luv to see more,i adore pictures of houses n make my own little houses in different styles n coliurs n hang them on my wall,i maje them from layered cereal boxes n patterned card stocj nbeveryone wantscthem from me,thats why i adore ur houses, thank u so nuch for showing ur work i luv them❤❤❤❤
Definitely make this a series. It's so fun. Actually, I loved the way the rope looked with the red balls... then you said the thing about mushrooms and moss like folklore. Now you must make this painting! 😉 Loved what you made as always. The yellow house in the middle is my favorite. It reminds me of those Swedish colors. 💙💛 I love that.
Lately I’ve really been digging “thrifting” my own apartment and re-purposing it! For example, an 8-photo frame I don’t care for but for some reason still have I turned into moulds/deckles for papermaking!
Such a great idea!! 🥰 I've never heard of Anthropology and thought you were talking about a branch of science!!! 🧪 On your question of the day I like that 2nd building, the blue one, it just stood out to me. 🏚 I love the fact that you're putting that 2nd picture in your shop WITH the frame!! It's not only made by you but your husband had his hand in it!! 😁💝
This was exciting! Some of the best results we've seen with thrift store frames- it helps a lot if you have a good eye. Some people miss the best stuff!
6:05 - that's too funny that you found one of those - I found one & bought it for my daughter, and she also found & bought one for herself so now she's got 2!
Oh wow, both your frames and paintings turned out SO beautiful!! I'm inspired to go thrifting for frames right now!!! I love your art style and how you just go for it. I have such stage fright about starting a painting sometimes. 😆
I definitely want to try something like this. The prices of home decor items these days are outrageous, and who doesn’t love a great thrift store find?
prob my fave video of yours lately myra, and i've loved them all. you've really been going from strength to strength, and with two new babies, also. thank you so much for all the awesome content!
I loved this video! I've gone to the thrift store and just stared at the picture frames before but I never thought of doing this type of thing. That's really cool how you brought each of the frames "back to life" and made a new piece of art to custom fit the frame's personality. I would absolutely love to watch more of these videos.
More people need to remember to LIKE your videos! They're so amazing. Looking forward to seeing more of these! Getting thrifted frames and putting your own art in is such a great idea!
I'd love to see you do more frames. I used to redesign wooden plaques from thrift stores. Then after my stroke I couldn't do them anymore as you need two hands to do them. I still have the wooden plaques that need to be resigned but I think I'll give them back to the thrift store since I can't do anything with them now. It may sound strange but I want to cry because I loved recycling them and making them into other pieces of art.🙁
My favorite is the yellow building with the blue roof as its smaller than the others and it kinda reminds me of the house stuart little loved in. So small and cute when the others are tall. Plus I'm partial to yellow 💛 I love this. I am building a gallery wall of my art and i buy all my frames secondhand from thrift stores. So this is a cute lil way to make them look fancy.
If this will be a series😍😍😍 I can't wait😃 This was very inspiring and upcycling is something I like a lot. Will you make another studio vlog? Or packing orders?😃 i also loved this backstage videos😃
Sorry I'm late to this party but glad I found it online. I love ideas that allow us to reuse items rather than throw them out. I will be visiting the thrift store. We once bought a large painting that we loved but it was framed in a frame we hated. We stripped it of its faux antique finish and low and behold..there was a beautiful detailed wood underneath. After the stripping we gave it an oak golden oak finish that matched the wooden highlights and features in the room. It is beautiful. I like your idea even better..to create art for thrifted/renewed frames. Thanks.
Hello from a new subscriber 😊 I'm also here to tell you that your work knocks spots off of anything you will buy from Anthropology. You are the real deal, go you!
I love the profile on the orange one with the red door. I would love to see a series about thrifting. I love thrifting and found an old mirror with a piecemeal frame. Love to antique using paint like you did with the 1st frame. My hubby said tacky and I said nope and it's hanging in the living room. I've had to touch it up some but it's been 12 years so yeah.
Great finds! Oh, when you clean a frame, it works great to take it completely apart so you can get into the crevices near the back better. Thanks for telling us what you use for cleaners. And for showing us your process. Very helpful.
I just donated so many of my beautiful finds because we’re moving! I’m so happy to see you got some great deals. Hopefully someone finds my donations and finishes them as nice as yours!❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is the first time I have come across your video. I absolutely loved watching it and all the ideas you brought. I also enjoy your art and artist style. Definitely make this a series. This isn't like any art I have done. I have been focusing on watercolor, but am ready to branch out more. Again, LOVED THIS! Thanks.
👋🏻 for the second painting I personally love it for some reason it reminds me of my childhood but the building that stands out the most for me is the orange building next to the yellow and blue building
Pausing at 20:15 My favourite is definitely the little yellow house in the middle. I keep expecting a little dumpy lady to come out of her front door and begin scrubbing her doorstep - eg as in old children's colouring books of the 1950's. . I also loved the first painting. the colour choices are superb. I couldn't have it in my house, cos the patterns play havoc with my eyes, but that doesn't stop me appreciating the painting and the cleaned-up version of the frame, which I thought was 'orrible before the make-over! PS: this is the 100th comment on this video... 😄
I’m supposed to be on a no spend😂, planning on trawling my local charity shops tomorrow to see what I can find. To be fair I have a new house to decorate. Please continue this as a series.
Today as I was framing (grandchildren’s) art, I was telling my daughter how when we moved in to our current home I wanted to put my own art, art from loved ones or local artists on my walls. I clean up and paint old frames too. This is great!
Nice video and great thrifty suggestions. A thought: The screen note that was inserted at 1:09 went by waaay too fast and it took some time to scrub back to read it. It was important to the context of the video. Don’t be shy about allowing a few seconds screen time when you insert an important thought that wasn’t voiced in filming. ❤
Thanks for this video! I inherited some brass knickknacks from my late mother & have bee terrified to clean & ruin them. They have green spots like you mentioned. I'm glad I finally know how to safely clean the items Mommie collected from thrift stores. She always loved glass & brass.

Yes we need this!
I can just imagine the plant picture on an eclectic gallery wall with lots of visual intrigue
That’s exactly what I’m going for!!
Please do turn this into a series, i find this kind of videos so fun and entertaining to watch. Plus you are recycling old stuff into amazing things!
The “clashing” bright colors and patterns really give that painting some movement. Very cool!
That’s funny cause Moriah Elizabeth just did a thrift store makeover too! Great job they look awesome!
I belong to a co-op gallery, and I do oil painting. All my frames that my work is in is gently used thrift store finds. Frames (some of them great quality) at a fraction of the cost. Helps keep my "cost" down on my work, and less in the land fill.

Can you please elaborate? I'm an amateur artist and would love to connect with a publisher to create art for a catalogue. Thanks
The second picture frame that you did with the picture inside that says “angels watching over me”reminds me so much of my grandmother. When I was a little kid she used to sing a song to me and my brother. That was part of the song. She past when I was very young, I miss her so much. ❤

Rub and buff looks like a great product, it totally transformed that frame. Beautiful artwork as always. 🤩
I would love to see this as a series. Also, I loved the yellow house with the blue roof!

Maybe do it soon, Angie, because maybe it won't be there much longer? I think it'd be sad not to have that memory as a -opoto- photo.
Yes make this a series….Loved it so much!!
It is such a delight whenever i see Mira post a new video 😊

Omg, you are adorable. I love this. Just found your channel this morning and I thought this was just going to be a fun thrift flip video, which I LOVE, but then you started painting and I was all 😱 “GIRL’S GOT TALENT!!” ❤
Mira, this was a delightful use of thrifted things and your art. I’m glad you made this video. 🎉

Such a great idea!! 🥰

Nice work. I like the texture of the second one,. I love both of the paintings.
I definitely want to try something like this. The prices of home decor items these days are outrageous, and who doesn’t love a great thrift store find?
I’m here for this content 👏 I mean I love to watch everything you post but upcycling + art is my favorite haha!

Loved the cityscape painting!
Oh I hope you make this a series! I love what you did with the frames, how bold the art is, and that you’re upcycling things!
I think my favorite building in your second painting is the orange building, I love all the details and the dome topper!!
my favorite one is the orange one, love you and your channel
You’ve obviously had some art training in your life. I love the plant painting. The background of the painting is so cool.😎
I'd love to see you do more frames. I used to redesign wooden plaques from thrift stores. Then after my stroke I couldn't do them anymore as you need two hands to do them. Love your boldness 🎉❤🎉
Love the houses on the beach!
Hi I would love that Morning Glory print! Morning Glory's are my favorite flower!!!!
Hi Mira I really enjoy watching your videos I’m an artist myself
That came out AWESOME 👍👍
😊👍 The orange building with a red door is my favourite.
I would enjoy more videos like this.

This was fun, would love to see more like it :) That little row of houses, so charming, think im moving into the little blue/green one :)
I paint as well and love the clashing colors as background to the leaves 😁
This would be great for a series! Thank you for sharing your talents.
I love thrift store makeovers! More please. 😊
Love it. Definitely worth a series
Great finds! Oh, when you clean a frame, it works great to take it completely apart so you can get into the crevices near the back better. Thanks for telling us what you use for cleaners. And for showing us your process. Very helpful.
I love the red house on the end. And I always love your clouds.
I want to see what you do with the tray. I know you would make it so cool!
wow the frame with the plants you painted! Wow!!!! I love your art!
the orange one is my favorite 🧡

I love the blue building to the right of the pink one.
I love bold colors and contrast! I actually build assemblages. Love to thrift!
I’m a new subscriber. You’re paintings combined with the frames you redo are amazing! You are so talented. I vote yes on the series❤❤❤❤❤❤
Way cool ideas … I love the orange Bldg. with the red door!! 😊🩷
I like the red one on the end and the orange with the red door! You give me so many ideas!
👋🏻 for the second painting I personally love it for some reason it reminds me of my childhood but the building that stands out the most for me is the orange building next to the yellow and blue building
I’m looking forward to more of your junk to gems shows!!!!!
I'm late to the party! Just subscribed. I came across this watching my normal art follows, and loved this! The first piece was gold!
Loving all this creativity! The buildings with the cupolas are my favorite.
Omg I love the plant painting
Wishing the sun was shining here today. Love your videos!
Wow, you sure have a steady hand!

Please continue this as a series.
Love to see more. Make a series. ❤
Awesome, I love your artwork n frames, etc. 😊
never underestimate what you can find at a thrift store and give it a new look 😀well done plant portrait
The colorful cityscape reminds me of Willemstad, Curaçao. It’s beautiful
Your plant painting is quite nice!
Yes, please series!! I loved this!
My favorite building is a tie between the red and black one and the orange one. I really like the shape of the orange one.
Today as I was framing (grandchildren’s) art, I was telling my daughter how when we moved in to our current home I wanted to put my own art, art from loved ones or local artists on my walls. I clean up and paint old frames too. This is great!
Love the frame and your artwork. Now I need to go find me some frames! TY😊
Loved this video Mira!! I'm enjoying your channel so much.
