    Dave, I think you'd like to hear this. I followed your steps for the past 5 years. Got rid of the debt 2 years ago. Two days ago, I decided between 2 different airplanes to buy. One I could pay cash for. The other would require financing. I really wanted the nicer one that requires financing. I thought about calling you for advice, and then I told myself I know what Dave will say. So, I slapped myself back to reality and bought the one with cash. It's not as shiny and beautiful as the other one, but it is paid for, and Dave approved.

    If the young lady won't let her husband have some extra fun after baby step three, life can pass her by. You only have one opportunity to make memories with your kids and husband. If she insists, she may find herself alone. I thought Dave's answer to her was great and much more balanced than what she wanted to do. Time to be intentional, not as intense.

    • @sam805236
      @sam805236 Рік тому +8

      Out of all the memories with my kids, the ones that cost the least (even free) have been the most memorable that we still reminisce about to this day. All the paid ones like theme parks NEVER get brought up. You don't need a camper, you don't need a boat, you don't need a truck to haul either one. Get some used camping gear for a couple hundred and you're set.

    • @Trustbutverify2651
      @Trustbutverify2651 Рік тому

      Agreed about enjoying the simpler times in life - it's always surprising what kids remember, and it usually has to do with the emotional timber of the moment or outing. However, a couple and a family also need to have some fun times and vacations to build memories and childhood passes by so quickly. If she wants a totally paid off house, then get a smaller house and live a little if all your other debts are paid and you have a decent income. Marriage is also a compromise. There is always a tension between security and liberty. @@sam805236

    I just sold a property in Portland and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying its ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $450k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point.

      Yes, a good number of folks are raking in huge 6 figure gains in this downtrend, but such strategies are mostly successfully executed by folks with in depth market knowledge

      I agree, having a brokerage advisor for inveesting is genius! Amidst the financial crisis in 2008, I was really having inveesting nightmare prior touching base with a advisor. In a nutshell, i've accrued over $850k with the help of my advisor from an initial $120k investment.

      There are a lot of independent advisors you might look into. But i work with Carol Pasol Lewis and I have been working together for nearly four years, and she is excellent. You could proceed with her if she satisfies your discretion. I endorse her.

      I just googled her and I'm really impressed with her credentials; I reached out to her since I need all the assistance I can get. I just scheduled a caII.

    I don't use a debit card (just an ATM card). I am in the process of paying off and getting rid of credit cards. I use cash in weekly envelopes for food and household. I don't have a car, so how to pay for gas isn't an issue. When I still had a car, I paid for gas with cash. Still can't figure out how to 1) buy a plane ticket, rent a car or a motel/hotel room. Anyone have input on this?

    Student loan shouldn't be political, you borrowed the money, you should pay it back and not blaming on the government. It's your SHIT!

      It's not a real emergency fund. It is a psychological baby step that just provides a sense of accomplishment, because the reality is you can't reel people in to a program where your smallest debt is $10k and takes a year to pay off.

    • @KennTollens
      @KennTollens Рік тому +1

      @@icawnIf you can pay $10k off in a year, then you are doing good. That is half a year pay after taxes for a lot of people. You can eat rice and beans, but breakfast, lunch and dinner for a whole year is not realistic, can't expect kids to do that either, but Dave says eat rice and beans and for a change eat beans and rice. His advice to get 3,4,5 jobs is not realistic either. But I guess what every you can spew to make millions works for him, and a lot of people on youtube as well. As long as it sounds good enough, people will buy it.

    The student loan pause was just lifted? Who the heck that owed that kind of money didn't at least try to keep paying off this debt during this stupidity?
    Maybe you need to sue your university for failing to teach you anything.
