- During a Word mail merge from a Microsoft Excel list, some Excel field types do not retain their formatting during the merge. Currency formats are one of those issues.
This video teaches you how to use switches in word to format the incoming currency field day to retain the formatting during the merge.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks!! This is perfect. What is the switch code for dates I want the dates in text May 11, 2018.
You are welcome. Based upon my understanding of you are asking, the switch code for the format: \\@ "MMMM d/yyyy"). Be sure to type a space after \\@.
I'm having a problem with fraction being inserted into my letter. Looks fine on database, but does not convert onto my letter.

Helpful! Thanks

Hi Donna, I need to pick your brain. I have an excel worksheet and I’m trying to use it with word as a mail merge. I’m training to make display cards for a quilt show. When I merge the cells are correct however, it seems to only copy part of a cell. I have a cell when the person entering the quilt in the show has to describe or tell a story about that quilt. If someone only types a sentence or 2 it works great. There are a few who have typed a who paragraph. When I merge a few sentences will merge but not all the sentences. I have no clue what I am doing wrong, can you please help me?
Hi Katie, are attempting to merge information from a merged cell within Excel? Is that the issue?
@@DonnaGilliland no, I entered text, (description) of a item. It was rather lengthy. When I mailed merged my excel sheet to my word document it only merged about 3 sentences of that paragraph.
Are these comment fields?
@@DonnaGilliland I set up an excel spreadsheet for a quilt show. I enter the registration information in the spreadsheet. 1 column is the quilt story/description. Some are lengthy. When I merge the spreadsheet with word to produce my display cards for the quilts some of the more lengthy descriptions do not entirely merge. Maybe a few sentences but not the entire cell
@@naybrobk I think it is a data type mismatch issue. However, this is not something I can help you resolve via messaging. It would require a little training on this issue.
