That bowie pyrite is sweet.
That one caught my eye too
I continue to study the knife industry as I have now for many years but I buy pretty much nothing any more. The expensive high end products have never been realistic to me for a tool that cuts stuff, a tool that I can lose easily and might get used for 20 seconds on any given day. On the other hand, it is second nature for me to have a knife on me at all times and I certainly enjoy them and so I keep watching DCA and others hoping just 1 more knife earns a place in my collection. I’m a hard sell these days.
I agree, well stated comment
I agree with every word you wrote here.
The knife industry is following the bullshit pricing increases that have been happening in the last few years.
Currently, Benchmade earns my angst ever since they introduced that shitty Narrows at $520.00. OUT of their friggin minds.
The whole line is lost as a value purchase. Overrated and overpriced garbage.
I'm no easy sell anymore as well.
@@nolobedewhile some companies like benchmade are overpriced, everything is more expensive now. obviously a knife that was $100 5 years ago is gonna cost a good 30-50 dollars more now, that’s just how bad inflation has been for a while.
@@acid6urns
Of course inflation is accounted for.
And lets not be so naive that inflation isn't also an unjustified excuse in many cases.
There are USA knife company's making a better product at better prices than BM.
Don’t kid yourself. This isn’t about inflation as much as it’s about taking advantage of the knife simps who will beg to be allowed on a wait list so they can overpay for the “latest and greatest” creation from these makers who laugh at them while taking their money.
love that Soldotna... but i'd hate 1095 at 80$, let alone 200$. in this day and age, it's insulting. i guess that's why i don't own any Tops any more
You got the designer in the mix you got crkt in the mix and then you got tops in the mix there's a lot of hands to get paid..lol
It's for the folks screaming "I want to buy made in USA!"
@@jlogue751 Also they need more money to live than a Chinese worker. lol
Lifetime no questions asked return policy…
You break it, they replace it.
200 bucks...for a 1095 steel apple slicer ? Not A2 , not Magnacut ?
💯 Imagine if CRKT had collabed with Benchmade instead of Hogue 😂😂😂
I used to be so much more into knives a few years ago, it felt like every week there was something unique, exciting and affordable. Now it feels like the people who were putting out great knives back then, now put out recycled, boring designs over and over again. I don't remember the last time Civivi has brought out anything that wasn't a past design changed a tiny bit. At the same time, there has been an absolute FLOOD of companies demanding $300-$500 or more for 154CM, D2, S30V, 1095 and I cannot tell you what a huge feeling of disgust and disappointment I have for today's knife market. We grew too much too fast and now almost nobody has had an original design that costs less than $350.
@seancollins3711 - 100% well said. I saw that The James Brand has a VG10 folder for 160 bucks. VG10, a common , relatively average, performing steel that is in my Boker Urban Trapper...but that was only 60 buck (at the time). And yes, many designs look the same. I can name 10 folders that look similar to the Kizer Drop Bear, and another 10 that look similar to the Benchmade Bugout. Will they perform the same...maybe , maybe not....but too many designs look alike now
@WhistleblowerLivesMatter - NO ! DONT MAKE ME IMAGINE SUCH A HORRIFIC THING ! I bet the price would be looking like a social security number !
@@seancollins3711Depends where you look. This is just a small portion of the knife world.
Thomas has been killing it with the dad jokes lately. Nicely done sir... nicely done.
200$ for 1095? Someone is on DRUGS!
The extra clip that comes with a Chavez fits and looks awesome on the ZT0308.
*uses prevaricated in a sentence*
Wife: Have you been reading more books lately?
Me: No. I’ve just been watching more DCA!
Thanks for expanding my vocabulary. I appreciate your time and videos as always man.
Just ordered the Pyrite, in the ebony wood scales. It’ll be my first button lock and wood knife. Very excited for it. Thanks DCA
Yeaaaaaa, I’ll have to echo those comments below. $200 is too much for 1095, especially when you can get an Esee in S35vn for less…. Still waiting on that preorder Condor Bushscot though 👍🏼 super excited!
That ZT 308 zf is awesome, still in love with the stitch
I am an Almar collector, among many others and I’d love that they made up folding version of their fixed blade, which I’ve been trying to get Top to do for years
“Cassowary” is a bird, commonly known as “the most dangerous bird in the world”.
It is large, aggressive and has huge talons and can easily kill a man. Look it up. If you’ve never seen one they’re pretty cool.
That CJRB mini Bowie makes me smile
Love that Rexroat fixed Blade.
Just picked up the pyrite bowie and schrade rage 6
That Skinny (horrible name) is gorgeous. What a sleek design.
too bad the italian companies do garbage heat treats and run all their steels soft… viper is running their magnacut at 61 hrc and i think lion steel does m390 at 58hrc or something ridiculous like that
That bowie knife opened my eyes widely. Would you recommend it for a first knife? Or would I be better off with the Civivi and it’s 14C28N? Thanks
G'day DCA & Thomas.! That blade shape on the Kansept Egress is a Toucan. We're sure that even Neeves Knives would agree. Cheers from Australia.
Kancept Egress looks like a great beater work knife
I’m looking for the Condor Bushscot.
Oh thank god it’s new knives of the week my happy place ❤
Another great video! Thanks 🎸🔪
Why is the Koenig arius 990$ when the CF version is 840$ on their website?
That CRKT was nice!
A smaller (3" - 3.25") version of that Boker Les George drop point would be sweet.....
I'm in the same opinion as most of the comments. Too much money for average design and materials. I think D2 is a good Choice for RoseCraft blades, holds an edge longer than 1095 and is less prone to rust, maybe not as tough, but on a slip joint...
When is the Rosecraft slip joint coming out?
The link for the scout says discontinued
So cool that first one.
Howdy and wow…I am digging the ZT and the Rosecraft ( names of knives for rivers around Tenn where they live I believe)..talk about going from the North to the South Poles! Thanks again for your coverage of all things sharp! 🤠🇺🇸🇨🇱⚔️
Wow. I am shocked at how well made those Rosecrafts look. I thought they were going to be significantly more expensive. The fit and finish looks first rate. Genuinely wow for the money!
Prices seriously need to come down this is getting reduculous. Seriously
Awesome knives every one....
DCA!!! I have decided to say to hell with disposable plastic safety razors!!!!
Could you do a list of fixed ( non disposable blade) straight razors before I buy anything?
I have looked at the website and I wish there was more in stock.
Thanks for your dedication to your customers and fans, f.f.
$200 for 1095 paring knife?! 😮
At least it's actually a TOPS and not CRKT
Nope. Just nope.
I agree, I like the knife a lot, but no way seems like everybody has lost her/mind
David you always say those holes are not good for tying to stick for spear purposes ,,..im a fisherman and there's so much to be speared in shallow water ...and you don't risk loosing knife ..burnt wood is ok but knife penetration is better...I can see why people would like the holes. always fun tuning in , love this channel
Diggin' those slip joints
$500 for a box cutter. That's crazy. Give me a Milwaukee fastback any day.
New knives time *YESSSSS!!!!*
I was mostly unimpressed by many of these over-priced knives, esp the Al Mars, the CKRTs, and the Grant and Gavin Hawk 'utility knife'. The Grant and Gavin looks awkwardly designed and stupendously overpriced for a fancy box cutter. $499 for a box cutter?! 😮😵💫🤣
g&g hawks are literally essentially custom knives. that’s why it’s $500.
@acid6urns, that's a big shoulder shrug. "Everyone" is a custom knife designer/maker these days. Fire up the 'ol design program, tweak any existing design, fire up the CNC machine and POOF...you're a custom knife designer.
The first one looks like a miniature Cold Steel Mayhem 😁
Ibis is University of Miamis mascot, hence that "Tiffany" blue it's probably supposed to be Miami Dolphins colors
Need some knife advice.
Need a folding knife, not an automatic.
I need to cut a bunch of shrink wrap off of pallets at work and a normal drop point or clip point blade slips out of the cuts.
Im looking for some sort of hawkbill or recurve blade knife to gather the material into the cut.
Normally i preder tough steels, but this likely wont touch anything except for said shrink wrap.
Less than $200 is mandatory, but less than $100 is preferable.
Thoughts?
Byrd Hawkbill, cheap and it will get the job done
Wow! Those Rosecraft are NICE! How are the just behind the edge? I hope the sell here in Europe one day.
they’re made in china so i don’t see why you can’t get them in europe especially since they’re slipjoints. you can also always have it shipped from the US
That rosecrafts are nice 😮
Is there any real advantages to carry a small fixed blade over a folder in the same blade lenght? Especially when it's a thin blade?
Whoah that Pyrite's blade looks smexy af!
You got any milwaukee fastback's
Great video DCA/Thomas! I love the Boker plus Les George design 2024 collection, ‘A-W-E-S-O-M-E ‘AWESOME!seriously a most beautiful design and would love nothing more than to see and have(this one is going in my cart ) a fixed blade companion. ‘Great job Boker
How about ‘Modern Wharncliffe’ for Spyderco Yojimbo and Kansept Egress styles and ‘Traditional Wharncliffe’ for curving spines like Civivi Baby Banter and Kershaw Leek??
Interesting background music. Has a certain John Adams quality to it.
Love the classy Rosecraft slipjoints, but until they make one with more stainlessness, I'll be watching from afar.
The CRKT Hogue collab price point is ridiculous. Could've been way worse w a CRKT/Benchmade collab 😂😂
Waiting for the Al Mar Ruh-roh.
The guardian says it's discontinued?
I want that Bowie Pyrite so badly!
1.25 speed works well with DCA
I like to watch DCA at .5 speed. It feels like we're sitting at the bar having a few and talking knives. 🍻
200 for 1095 crkt??? I was stoked thinking it would be 70-80 but wow!
I was like wow NO!!..
I would buy it at 65
sol-DOT-na Named after Soldotna, AK on the Kenai Penneula south of Anchorage.
DCA I have been looking for an edc knife to fit my bill for quite some time. I’m not a collector of knives but have a wide variety of approx 50 knives. My default as been a Spyderco delica I bought 20 years ago and a new delica 4 and an Ontario rat1 aus8. I am not a fan of ball bearings and not a fan of benchmade even tho I have a griptilian sheepsfoot. I prefer 3-3.5” folding blades thumb or flipper deployment and no button locks cause I like strength priced up to $200. I’ve honestly watched every episode KC has put out and I may be in overload. Whatcha got for me brethren….
DAVID.... I finally picked up one of the new MKM pocket tangos. Really really well done on that design.
rip, mkm has awful heat treat
@@acid6urnswhat specific knives have you used? And what makes your opinion on heat treat valid?
@@acid6urns 🤣
@@John5.56 something he saw on Reddit one time I'm sure.
I got one too and love it
Bring back the American made Nordsmith Skipjack. Thx
I would love to see a fighting knife lineup I like carry tops double side double edge backbite but I have 30 folding knives mostly tactical some EDC
I carry 2-3 knives on any given day the knife depends on if I’m using a suit or jeans
I’ll vote for sheep-to, but maybe it’s closer to a wharn-to. Whatever Thomas says works for me.
Lucus makes beautiful designs that are always 1/2 to 3/4 inches too small for me.
Do ZT make Left handed knives?
Not that I’ve ever seen, but a lot of their models do allow the clip to be reversed. That’s about all us lefties can ask for most of the time. I’m not sure if the 308 shown in this video allows for the clip to be swapped but the standard models do, I almost bought one in a box store but they only had the display model so I passed.
Soldotna is a town in Alaska
Those Al Mar prices are higher than I expected
The price of made in Taiwan instead of China. This being said the new SERE T36 in S35v should be a ripper!
id really like to see more from Al Mar again. I think its great that they are working with a Taiwanese manufacturer. I hope that continues
How many times do you think these guys turn off the camera and then go buy these knives? I feel like I watched David fall in love with that ZT knife. 😅
Girth !!
I hear that's where it's at !
I have 3 versions of the ZT 0308, do I need 4?
Yes.
Why would you even ask?
Of course you do. Hell, why not 5? Lol
jesus christ, the 0308 is a cool knife but it is damn expensive for what it is
Unbelievable , I had only just come across CJRB knives , five minutes later your channel brings rpt my attention to same knife, so may I ask, what’s the steel like, , are they good knives , I’m daz from australia
Rolling on the fourth knife and i'm thinking seth should have made this video today
Hey DCA, Seth V, and the lover of reversed tantos, I was wondering why don't more companies do a full hollow grind on their knives? I know that it may be prone to chipping but it can't be worse than a scandi grind. Just wondering.
Hoping they make the pyrite large with a Bowie blade.
30:50. Lol
Bae wake up. New Knives of The Week video just dropped!!!!!!!!
The crkt minnow should be called the Tuna can
Why would someone want a knife that is obviously too small to fit your hand?
We need to know if they gravity flip!? All of em
The red scaled blue tick. I think they're red I'm color blind but I do know for sure they're not blue
I too am a bit baffled as to why they picked that name for that knife.
👍
Here in Italy, gasoline is about 2€ for 1 liter, and the cost of energy is rising in all Europe. Steel is pricy as well. I don't even mention how expensive is food....
On the other hand, salaries are going down!.
The jokes, dumb and funny, make me watch your entire videos.
30:40 That's a Lambsfoot with a tumor on its back, clearly.
Time to make a yellow cake 236 knife
pyrite bowie would be dope if it was bigger like a bowie
It wouldn't be a pocket knife if it was Bowie sized.
Hopefully they’ll add it to the Large Pyrite
The small one is fine and seems very nimble, but it really should be bigger
Oh well, the search continues.
That shortcut is bad ass, but 500?
it’s a g&g hawk design, all of their stuff is expensive and it’s a mid tech bordering on a custom knife
Yeah, not sure who that is for. $500 for a glorified box cutter...
There's some nice knives this week but i just bought a Null Raikou and a spearpoint Hinderer Eclipse in the past week so I'm broke for a while
I miss the old al mars...when they weren't all sourced from china.
I think that minnow is the very knife that was used by the cannibals to cut up and eat uncle Bosey
I dont think I've seen a ZT that I've ever liked in any of these videos.
In Australia it would be called the crkt bin chicken, not the ibis! You guys have trash pandas, we have bin chickens
And our seagulls are the Rats of the Sky
People wanna buy American made til they have to buy American made prices. 😂😂
Not sure why they're pushing CRKT knives so hard. Consistently, the lowest quality knives I've handled have been CKRT's...
Only one of them is made by CRKT (i.e. in China), the other two are made by other US knife makers for CRKT. I'd expect better build quality for those two... hopefully.
the automatic and fixed blade aren’t made by crkt. they’re made by hogue and TOPS.
I hav a few minimalist, a CEO and a couple LCK+. No real complaints.
There are far too many outstanding budget options to pay $200 for a pocket knife.
A letter opener in 1095 for $200 should come with a leather sheath and a sealed envelope containing $150 and a hand written apology.
You’ll be able see through that blade after the fourth sharpening…
That red handled Bluetick knife reminds me of the lyrics of Blake Shelton's song "Ol' Red" ...anybody else remember that song?
