Great content and info again. Thanks for helping me make some choices on my next purchases. I'm enjoying very much my Pyrite G10, as I don't do heavy cutting, but I think the Ekko will be my next buy.
Love seeing Divo get play here. Bought a Growler a few months ago and they were crazy nice - I contacted them because I wanted to throw a lanyard on mine instead of the pocket clip and they sent me an extra little plate from one of their prototypes for free so I didn’t have the recess showing when the clip is removed
Hot take but I MUCH prefer a budget deep carry clip to a milled titanium one for function. Anyway thanks for making this list, lots of cool knives I didn’t know about!
Excellent list once again! I cannot argue with really any of them. Very helpful for knife collectors looking for actual tools for using and they perform well. No one else I have seen has better picks then yours.
Not a 2023 knife but for far below 100 the osp Penguin is awesome. There are so many great blades out there right now for under 100, I love it. From this video alone i have both sencuts and PF. Kizer too. Sencut is bad ass.
Yeah the EKKO is just awesome! Ill grab it as a secondary almost everyday. Ill do struggle with choosing what secondary some times . I usually carry a real expensive knife incase I see a knife guy . And then EKKO cause I love using it.
The Petrified Fish knife is called the Stamp btw. I’d throw one of the titanium Cvivi clips on that one. The Miguron is tough to beat. It’s has everything you could want in a budget knife.
The Kizer Feist XL in CPM 4V has surprised the hell out of me these last 6months. And for about $90 it's a steal and I getting another one soon. I bought mine when they were limited on Justin Lundquist's website. But now they are also available on Kizer's site under Exclusive. There are so many amazing knives that came out this year and last year, it's a good time to be into knives. Good prices and good quality (for the most part).
This Orion looks so cool and it seems to be very utilitarian as well, however the Kubey tanto you showed last time simply blew my mind, I saw it on Ali in a very good price and already ordered it. I can't afford the Berserker so this one is as close as you can get + good company and a good price...and Mr Willumsen, obviously - what else can a man want :) ?
On the Orion - grind that tab down. But I don’t like how the scales look like they belong to a different knife and just got stuck on a bigger handle. I am still not sure about the Kizer taking the top. I know the crossbar lock is great, but I am just not feeling it.
@@davidkilby1043 I'm coming up on 60 as well. I started leaning towards edc fixed blades about 15 years ago when I found out my fingers weren't as nimble as they used to be, too much joint damage. Almost shortened my index finger by an inch when I was fidgeting with a large Cold Steel Vaquero. Folders just got harder and harder to use. Luckily there's a wide variety of small fixed that seem to do a better job for me than most folders. Creely Mako, Esee Izula 2, Lionsteel M2M, etc are great for daily use, Shivworks Clinch Pick or T.Kell Guardian for defense. The Mako is especially comfortable for old hands. The handle looks weird but melts into your grip.
I have 12 of the knives on your list and I agree with all of them being top 15. Although there’s no way I could narrow it down to 15. And I definitely couldn’t rank them from about 8-9 on your list to number 1. There’s so much to love about all of them. So then who is the budget knife champion?? CJRB is making a strong push for the budget knife crown recently with the Pyrite family, the Riff, the Ekko, the upcoming Space Cowboy, and many more previous releases. A strong case can also be made for Kizer to be the champ with the Mad Tanto, and previously the Sheepdog, Drop Bear, Begleiter, and countless others. They have a strong case just on their micarta alone. Miguron is making some waves too with the Velona, and the Moyarl, and previously the Pelora, Pagos, and the Akri. But there’s lots of CIVIVIs and Sencuts on your list, and rightly so. The Sencut Bocll, Slashkin, Serene, Sachse, Fritch, and countless others before them… and the CIVIVI Qubit, Sokoke, Spiny Dogfish, Hypersonic, Gordo; and previously the Cogent, Chevalier, Conspirator, Altus, Elementum, Praxis, Mini-Praxis, Baby Banter (and so many others) are all fantastic knives. Not to mention, there’s not a clear and definitive CIVIVI / Sencut style … they’re always putting out new and innovative designs. In my opinion, that makes CIVIVI / Sencut the reigning undisputed budget knife champion - hands down! Great stuff as always, J-Rad! 👊🏻
I have the green micarta Ekko and the titanium Ekko. The titanium versions detent is quite a bit weaker which bums me out some but I still really like them both
BTW the pony stout has been available the whole time on WMK they just only have the all black g10 version but oh well still cool I’m getting one myself
The sachse is fantastic, I think sencut has been consistently beating civivi, We should many sencut the mid tier brand of their lineup. That being said, the sachse still can’t touch the Malibu or mordax, but that goes for every button lock at least up til the time I wrote this comment
Did you know that Sokoke in closed position acts like a superb kubotan/"tactical pen" for self defence? Just take it to your hand so the front flipper aims down and front and use it for hammer fists, the tip of the front flipper is the first contact point that hits the target then 👍 It hurts like hell even to your thigh 🤭
Jared, I love your videos you and Al post 76 are like my favorites but I hate D2 and mass produce knives unless Bob Dozier does it D2 sucks but Bob does custom knives in D2 like you said small batch he treatment is spot on and his knives man, I would love to have one of his knivesin D2 because it’s done right
as soon as you were talking about the milled vs spring clip on the kansept, i said out loud 'because it carries better'. I don't know why you or anyone else is that upset about.... A BETTER CLIP.
So many of these knives would have been stellar if they had better blade steel, like 14C28N instead of 154CM or ARPM-9. It's really disappointing that so many models are being churned out with these older steels.

You my Brother are not alone in this. I’ve a lot of friends who only collect under 100$. We live in amazing times for knives. We get a ton for the money. And they keep upping the ante. I wish ya good fortune.
Well I mean spyderco puts those cheap ass garbage looking wire clips on knives I consider being somewhat expensive as well as other companies like vox etc throw wire clips on knives that cost $150 or more and that literally makes anyone that doesn’t have decent knowledge of the knife industry etc assume it’s a cheap pos gas station knife or something along those lines of being a $20 knife or less. I personally absolutely hate that companies use the wire clips on any knives over $40 and imo it’s absolutely ridiculous that they even think that’s acceptable to do with the prices they’re charging for the knives..
Best FIDGET TOY marketer of the year,… CIVIVI!!!! They sell junk Fidget Toy Steel that doesn’t hold an edge and market them to Gucci Fidget Toy Boys and Girls who don’t cut anything with it anyhow. Good job Jered, deceiving the marketplace. What’s your cut? Pun intended.

Bro did my eyes just deceive me or did you just essentially squeeze the Pyrite XL's two steel liners together to the point of touching?🤣🤣🤣 like wtf? lol
My grandma lost both her hands, so ill take that flipper tab bet 😢 Edit: also, simply drilling pocket clip holes in the left side of a knife doesnt make it ambidextrous at all.
They changed the clip on the Main Street bc the first clip came loose constantly it was my first decent knife I edc a Main Street have for years it did look way better though I wish they’d just fix whatever made it come loose so often
Phenomenal list! I have several of the knives in the top ten and I definitely want several others that are on the list. Sencut and Civivi made some amazing knives so far this year and I can feel more coming; and CJRB is just ridiculous with the Pyrite and Ekko, can’t wait to see what else they come up with under those two platforms! And Kizer is just my overall favorite EDC company with all of the different knives they have that are outstanding and in all price ranges so you can find anything for everyone and the action/materials will hit above their price points. Thanks for another great and informative list!
@@NeevesKnives why didn’t the Nightshade make the list? Everyone raves about that one but I’ve never handled it but it’s definitely on my list of must haves
If I could name a couple of knives not from this year: under $50 - Sencut actium. Under $100 - Kershaw bareknuckle in 20cv. Great list!😊
I love these best of videos because you can be sure you're not wasting your money on junk--which is easy to do with a lot of the budget knives.
I'm glad to see the Qubit make lists because it's such a great knife! The Sokoke is also an instant classic!!
