    Bjorn, as usual, another amazing tut by yourself. I actually put this one into action on a new site I am working on. Eventhough my hosting provider offers a paid CDN, this actually worked out better. With a few tweaks, I was able to see a dramatic enhancement after completing the setup on Cloudflare and pointing the DNS Records was a snap and easy to propagate just as you illustrated in your tut! Great job!

      Hi +WPLearningLab, +GregHyatt - I have an ssl site that i have been trying to implement cloudflare. The origin server has a GoDaddy ssl certificate. I have imported the zone files and can update my nameservers. Under Crypto tab i tried Full and Full(Strict) for SSL Often times i get an error message about Mismatch. How much downtime is required

    I cannot tell you how much I appreciate these tutorials. Straight, to the point, what is taught works. All of your tutorials have really helped me make a lot more money for myself and therefore also my clients. I do have a question. Are you still recommending to use Cloudflare for websites? I believe you probably are, but just need to know the updated answer. Also, do you recommend the SSL though Cloudflare and if you do are there any known issues that I might run into when doing this? Again, I cannot express how impressed I am with your tutorials. They are simply the best.

    Great presentation man, really natural... and very useful as I
    Just added Cloudflare as I was just not able to support from AWS Cloudfront.
    Though GTMetrix is somehow not able to connect to my site, but still will give it a day.

      Whenever you change a domains DNS, it takes time for things to adjust. Luckily, there was only 3 minutes between your two comments, so I think it went pretty quickly this time!

    Great video and I just followed your advice and change to CF.
    Issue, not with you, but with the result. My GTmetrics didn't change much at all when I first checked. But then, just as I'm writing this, they improved a bit from an "F" of (33%) at "F" of (42%).
    Then, just did another recheck and it's back to (33%). Guess I'll live iwith a few days and see where it settles.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому

      Hi Ona,
      Last summer CloudFlare made an announcement that they would automatically AMP all pages if you enable that setting. I'm not sure what you mean by 'distribute'. Google should recognize that the pages are AMP and hopefully rank them better than non-amp pages.
      Thanks for apartment hoping on board with the security courses. They're pretty valuable, if I do say so myself :)

    Looks interesting. :-) When you route your site traffic through Cloudflare, does this mean that some optimization and security plugins for Wordpress are no longer necessary? I'm thinking cache-plugins, WP Performance Score Booster, Autoptimize, iThemes Security, Wordfence, Sucuri, etc?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  7 років тому +3

      +Rami Botros Hi Rami, you can use a caching plugin for the features that Cloudflare doesn't provide. Every caching plugin let's you turn features on and off.
      You can also speed test your site with and without the caching plugin to see if there is a big difference. If there isn't then you don't need the caching plugin.

    Hi, I have a wordpress website and I have installed cloudflare but I am noticing a problem. Whenever I try to submit a contact form on the website, I am not receiving it in the "webmail"...which is www.example.com/webmail. Can you tell me how to fix this? I am using "wp mail smtp" plugin and before installing cloudflare, I did not have an ssl certificate. Crrently the website url does show "https" instead of "http" but there is no LOCK ICON beside the url. I don't know if that is a problem. Can you please help me with this.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 років тому

      Hi Souvik,
      I haven't encountered this problem before. I would first get the green padlock on your site. You can do that following this tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/g813t2_SwYo/v-deo.html
      Then test it again.
      If that doesn't do and your SSL is through cloudflare try turning the SSL off and testing again.
      If you have a helpful host like Siteground they may be able to help as well.
      I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    Quick questions; 1. While the name servers are updated is the website still live? 2. If we point the name servers back to GoDaddy will that effect or break the website structure in any ways?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 років тому

      Hi Dan,
      As far as I know, the website may experience an interruption while the nameserver changes propagate.
      If you point the nameserves back to GoDaddy (or wherever your hosting account is), it should not break the website structure in any way.

I setup an account with Cloudflare with my old server, but when I log in to Cloudflare it has all my old server information. On Bluehost I can't see all the Cloudflare settings. Hi can you please create video compare cloudflare vs keyCDN? I'm so confused, don't know which is the best . Thanks

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  7 років тому

      Hi Rose,
      One of the big benefits of Cloudflare over KeyCDN is the security features. Cloudflare's network collects attack information from all websites that route traffic through Cloudflare. So shortly after one site is attacked and protected all sites will be protected by cloudflare blocking the attacking IPs.
      I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    1. I have third party domain names attached to my website, as parked domains. How do I point them to cloudflare without disconnecting from my host?
    2. I have mp3 recordings embedded in my website, which are stored on Amazon S3. These seem to die when using cloudflare. The recordings work when off cloudflare. Is this normal?
    I would really appreciate your advice.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 років тому +1

      Hi Sally,
      If the third party domains are in your hosting account then you can change the DNS records for the domains and it shouldn't affect your main site. Here's a help page that hopefully helps: community.cloudflare.com/t/parking-a-domain-at-cloudflare/84979
      I don't think the MP3s dying is normal behavior. Could it be that audio is taking a long to "buffer" and not actually dying?

    What about the cloudflare wordpress plugin, is it needed or it is worthless?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому

      Hi Mike,
      The more plugins you have the more your site slows down and the more potential security vulnerabilities you introduce to your website. So when you can avoid using plugins, it's a good idea to avoid them. But if you find the plugin route better then go that route.
      I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

      "Anyone" should include anyone including commercial use. You'd have to contact Cloudflare to confirm though.

    • @wplearninglab

      Those changes will apply instantly to the front end. Editing CSS can be a bit of pain though because caching will make it so your changes aren't displayed even though you made them.
      For that you'll want to disable caching plugins, or Cloudflare caching and install the Cache Killer plugin if you're using Google Chrome. Here's a quick tutorial on it: ua-cam.com/video/CegkzTkcQq0/v-deo.html

I selected Java, Css, Html, and tried out multiple combinations to see if they broke the site and also tested their speed each time. Honestly, I did not see any remarkable difference. @wplearninglab  7 років тому +1

      +Philip Chesney Hi Philip, some of it depends on the theme's coding and well. Have you tried WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache to see if those help lore with speed? I have tutorials for both of those:
      WP Super Cache: ua-cam.com/video/mvwIwA9ysfg/v-deo.html
      W3 Total Cache: ua-cam.com/video/2Q_V95ip7Pc/v-deo.html
      Let me know if either of those help more.

    • @PhilipChesney
      @PhilipChesney 7 років тому +1

      Yeah, i figured it could be because of the theme's coding. Regarding WP Super Cache and w3 total Cache, both of these plugins are currently unavailable for download on Wordpress 4.8.2. I see a message saying that they are functional, yet I am unable to download them(no download button). Is there a way around this?

      Hi Samuel,
      My opinion of plugins is that you should use as few plugins as possible because they can add security vulnerabilities and some can slow down your site.
      I would use CDN on SuperCache OR Cloudflare, but not both. Like you said, I would try this or that and see which makes your site faster.
      I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  7 років тому +2

      +Vijay Singh Hi Vijay, you're hosting account will work as normal. The difference is the traffic to your site will go through Cloudflare first and then go to your website on your regular host.
      Cloudflare detects your existing nameservers and saved them to your Cloudflare account.
      I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому +1

      In this case, when you change your nameservers you are pointing traffic to Cloudflare. Cloudflare blocks the "bad" traffic and sends the good traffic to your hosting name servers (which Cloudflare auto-detected in the beginning). So the traffic ends up on your site in your original hosting account.
      You are not changing hosting, just changing the path of the traffic to your site.
      Does that make sense?

    Hi Bjorn I have a question. I did set up Cloudflare by watching your video for one of my websites last year. The website looked fine, but the problem I faced when I logged into the cpanel, the interface of the cpanel looked completely broken. It never managed to fix it. This is how I used to access the cpanel : mydomainname/cpanel
    I am thinking of setting up Cloudflare for another domain name to make it faster. But in case if similar thing occurs, then how do I revert to the way it was?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому +1

      Hi Tasvir,
      To revert back to how things you were you just change your nameservers to point to your hosting account rather than Cloudflare.
      I can't see why only your cPanel would have been affected by it. Did you contact your host's support team to have them look at it?

    I did that a year ago and my website crashed totally. On the cloudflare community threads they told me to check all zone records of hosting manually one by one and compare them to cloudflares' to make the similar! Which was a headache and I ended up removing it.
    You didn't explain in your video what "clouds" we need to turn on and off and why, you said "if you find some of these are not working and somebody says you have to change these to whatever.."..? And then you mentioned that the site may crash casually. Yes it will crash it did and there's nothing that explains this well in this video.

      Hi David,
      Good question. You can use Cloudflare and WPRocket together no problem. Cloudflare just filters traffic before it comes to your site. Then when the "clean" traffic arrives on your site, WPRocket will make it load faster.

    So, where is file hosted? How cloud flare works?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 років тому

      Hi Mansur,
      The files are hosted in your hosting account. CloudFlare is just a path for the traffic to your site. A regular site has traffic that passes through a domain registrar where your domain was bought and then the traffic is sent to your hosting account where the website loads. The visitors doesn't know any of this, this is just how the back end system works, more or less.
      With CloudFlare enabled, the traffic that passes through a domain registrar where your domain was bought and then the traffic is passed through CloudFlares servers, then the traffic is sent to your hosting account where the website loads.
      I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  7 років тому

      Hi,
      I'm not sure what you mean the first test of the page is much better than the last. Do you mean speed test? Sometimes it can take up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to be fully applied across all the servers in the world. Until that happens speed testing can have in accurate results.

    • @artdesign-commercialvideos3574
      @artdesign-commercialvideos3574 7 років тому

      Hi
      Yes i mean about the speed test with GTmetrix. I waited for 3 days and nothing changed. My website is much worse after i make the CDN process (worse on speed tests) Do you have something in mind or i should go back to the old way?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому

      A good rule of thumb is if it worked better the old way, go back to that way. It could be that your server is blazing fast and better than using a CDN. It's pretty rare for that to be the case, but it does happen sometimes.
