The only exceptions are in case where the mother is a deadbeat, drug addict, felon etc but when all things equal, he mother will get custody 90%+ of the time which leads most men to wasting thousands in legal fees for NOTHING. This is why most men don’t even try to fight for custody.

Even if you’re not a gold digger, the child and by extension the mom are still entitled to the support of the father, which is why I don’t think it’s something to judge her for. But the child is also entitled to have a father be part of their life (assuming he’s not a danger to anyone) so her saying she doesn’t want him around is really deranged thinking. Everything she says comes across as extremely selfish and unconcerned with a child, so I can see why destiny got angry. Kids have no say in the matter of their birth and this is clearly not a situation where either parent is ready or willing and it seems like she’s completely unconcerned with introducing an innocent person into what is most likely an immensely difficult childhood either out of selfish principle or, well… yeah.
