- The entire pregame show at the OSU vs. Penn State football game on October 17, 2015. The game was billed as a black-out game, so fans and players wore black, a departure from the normal sea of scarlet in the stands. Includes Ramp, "Buckeye Battle Cry", the Penn State fight song ("The Nittany Lion"), "Beautiful Ohio March", "Hang On Sloopy", "Across The Field", Script Ohio ("Le Regiment de Sambre et Meuse"), "The Sound Of Campus Chimes", "Carmen Ohio", and "The Star Spangled Banner". The team enters the field through the Diamond OHIO formed by the band. The Ohio State University Marching Band, TBDBITL, The Best Damn Band In The Land at the Ohio State vs. Penn State Football Game 10/17/2015.
Was at this game, simply the best tradition in sports. Nothing beats this, chills every time
+Jared Becker Is it crazy that I'm crying!? LOL.... Love the Buckeyes!
MinnieTyko Not at all :)
The blackout must have been really cool too
I cry a little bit every time I watch Script - cant wait to see it in person again
I totally agree. My late brother was a member of TBDBITL for 6 years in the Woody Era. I get choked up every time I see the ramp entrance. Nothing like it in the world. GO BUCKS!!!
I love this band! The discipline, precision, and synchronicity makes it one of the best! Nice job young people!! All the best to each and every one of you!!

That was my first buckeyes game... LOVED EVERY MOMENT GOOOO BUCKSSS
I love the 'dotting of the "i" in the Ohio State marching band shows!!
Watching this video shows one of the countless things that makes America great. Thank you TBDBITL!!!!
A great band. As a Michigan State former band member, It's all about the respect and the enormous effort by all of you. The Ohio State Band is VERY good.
+Ryan DeShazo Hello Ryan - I was a snare drummer in the Michigan State Drum Line. They work very hard.
Gary Laura that's cool I march Tenor Sax for a small town high school. I've always wanted to be in a college marching band
There is no place in college football where THE BAND is as famous as THE FOOTBALL TEAM, and that place is at
THE OHIO STATE UNIVERISTY.
You said there's no place, yet you continue to name a place.
Instead of saying "no place" you should have said "no other place," or "only one place." The way you wrote it makes no sense.
There is no better Ohio State pregame video. Totally amazing. I have watched your video so many times
Thanks for the fantastic video!
Must have been a great night.
GO BUCKS!!!💥🏈☝🏻️
Coming from the perspective of a student at their summer program- Hang on Sloopy is exhausting. It may not help that i'm not athletic by any means, but I was out of breath every time we had to play and dance to it, not to mention hold a Baritone out at a 45 degree angle once we were done. (I think that that was the worst part, actually. My right arm was sore for about a week after the 2 day session.) I have immense respect for every member of this band, knowing (barely) from a first hand experience what they have to do.
katier thank you for sharing. What instrument did you play? I was there in 57. Thank you for playing. 🏉🏈
i was there for bass drum and i couldn't agree more. my entire body was in pain each night. there's nothing more but respect for anyone who was ever in this band or even went to summer sessions regularly. much respect.
Amazing! Ⅰ want see it someday from Japan.
Gives me chills every time . THANK GOD I'M A BUCKEYE!!! GO BUCKS!!! We beat TTUN today 62 - 39 to play for the BIG 10 title!!!
My cousin John Menke is in the trumpet section. Go John. My Dads sisters grandson. Go Bucks
+Nicholas Wurster My husband was the first guitar player ever to perform with TBDBITL. Unplanned, maybe, but he was definitely the first!
I guess my dream of dotting the "i" will never come true. Oh, well.. Love those Buckeyes!!
Penny Enicks I want to march in the OSU Marching Band, but I don't play percussion or brass instruments
Gummy Bear There are many people in that band that their main instruments are woodwinds or maybe something else, you just need to take the time to learn one of the many brass instruments they use for the band.
Very nifty A-Deck vid! There's so much going *on* in the OSUMB performances, it's hard to take it in, especially if you're at the game (Your seat is your vantage point. Period.), or watching on TV (Those guys just don't seem to "get" which movements or moments are the really important ones, and they get in the way of the i-dotting sousaphone).
Watching this, given your nifty seat position (How the hell long have you been an alumnus? Or are you a Deep-Pocket Contributor?), is just plain fun. You can see how the rows are organized. You can observe how they have their timing *perfect* when moving lines cross, and how they position their instruments oh, so precisely, so as not to cause a collision. This band is really somethin'.
Wanna see something funny? Check out the many videos of the sousaphone player baffing an idiot photographer from ESPN with his horn! Those guys are told ahead of time, "Steer clear of the sousaphone. You might get hit."
Yeah, right. I'm smarter than that. ***BAFF***
Whatta doof.
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful Band ! Abraços From Brasil
that's why they're called the best damn band in the land
yes
Hang on Sloopy was before any of these were born. WAY before!
best dam band in the land
Was the drum major sick or something? He was slow, out of step sometimes, he almost stumbled during the backbend, his baton work was sloppy, his legs weren’t high enough. I’m actually worried because he looks like he could be fatigued or something.
I LOVE MARCHING BANDS and this is as good as I’ve ever seen. Wow!
Just a couple questions: What’s the significance behind ‘Hang On Sloopy’ and what is the crowd chanting while it’s playing? Just curious.
Kimberly, "Hang On Sloopy" was a hit pop song in the Sixties. Not only that, it was recorded by a group from Dayton, Ohio...maybe the only memorable hit by an Ohio band! One of the band arrangers gave the band an arrangement to play in the stands that same year, and it became a crowd favorite very quickly.
Adding to navmark, John Tatgenhorst was a student arranger for the band and wanted to arrange it, but was first told no. It was a big deal for the band because, at that time, they mainly only played classical music, marches, and other traditional "band music." But they ultimately played it in a field show following Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers" while standing in a ballerina formation. Hang on Sloopy later was recognized by the Ohio government as the official "Rock Song of the State of Ohio." At the end of each phrase, the crowd chants O-H-I-O.
while I respect the tradition of playing the fight song of the opposing team I think that the next time we play Michigan at The Shoe, they should play "Hail" backwards.
how would that work exactly
Hands down, BDBITL
4:16-4:18 Look at 45 yard line, they're off-step! ((I'm a band nerd I try to find anyone off-step like this.))
gocaps108 Same
Me too
Why having chosen a french patriotic song ? Le Régiment de Sambre et Meuse... and they play it so fast... but great to hear and great to see ... impressive :)
When first performing the script, the music was initially set to be Buckeye Battle Cry, but that was scrapped when it was determined that it would take 20+ choruses of the song. The band had been rehearsing Le Regiment for a show and it was subbed in as the music for the Script Ohio drill. The band's arrangement of Le Regiment has undergone some slight modifications since then due to the bands incremental expansion, but it is nevertheless synonymous with this tradition. If it is played a bit faster, it's because a slower tempo would cause the drill to drag on and folks would lose interest. As it is, the full Script takes approximately 4 minutes to complete.
@@jeremyfullam7054 Thanks alot for the interesting informations and precisions you gave me :)
I love Buckeyes
Go bucks

As a Michigan fan this is very impressive but why did the Michigan band have to show OSU's band how to do Script OHIO?
Fact is they didn't. All the Michigan band did 100 years ago was spell out Ohio in a completely different style. Static, with no movement whatsoever. complete fallacy that Michigan started this tradition. Sorry.
Why do the BUCKEYES have to show that team ( ?? ) up north how to play football EVERY YEAR ????
