Yeah Señor, I am 57 and I am applying in the next cycle! I graduated as a dental Hygienist 30 years ago and I always wanted to keep working in healthcare, loved my field, but my neck can sometimes feel tense lately! Talk about a “gap year” I have about lots of hours of patient care and a degree from USC. Going head on into this! Just had two daughters grad from Davis and I believe one of them had maybe gone to Clínica Tepati a couple of times to shadow. She was a Neuroscience major. Anyway, age is just a number for me!! Thank you so much for all your videos, you are an inspiration. 🙏🏼
Hi Estela! Thank you for watching and commenting! You hit the nail on the head when you wrote age is just a number! I am confident that you will be a great provider and your unique life experiences and perspectives are needed in healthcare! Animo amiga..you got this!
Thank you so much! I’m a nurse who decided to go the PA Route and I’m redoing these old pre-read and figuring out the application process! This video was so helpful!
@The Mexican PA. Loved your video and appreciate your time and effort in making it to guide us all. I don't know if you made video(s) regarding what if someone is starting now in October rather than in January what timeframe or deadline should I look at? As an International Medical Graduate who is currently working as a clinical research coordinator in Dallas can you please clarify what should I prioritize? When looking at PA programs what are the main or important criteria one looks at? You mentioned that GRE should be done in a particular month and not before or after. Is there any particular reason it needs to be done in a particular month?
Thanks for the video it clarified me alot! However the Physician I have worked for retired and I lost contact with her but she gave me a letter of recommendation. Can I still be able to upload that?
I'm a bit confused about what I need to do. In 2023, I requested for my transcripts to be sent to CASPA. CASPA just opened 2 days ago, and I've taken more class since then. Do I just continue adding to the Transcript Entry section? Do I have to request for an updated transcript to be sent to CASPA? Also, I have a single class left to take online at a different institution. I don't take that until Fall 2024, how does that work if I want to apply now?
I’m not sure if they include trade schools. If you got a grade and gpa from your program I would imagine they probably would. Especially if you obtained like an associates…that’s fair game to include. If it was just a certification…for example like my EMT school. That is not something that I was required to include. Hope that provides some insight friend! Saludos 🫡
I’m 99% confident they don’t verify the exact number of hours you put down. I don’t think there is any real way to accurately verify that. But if they do, I imagine they probably just email or call the contact you put down for that job in question and ask “Just confirming, Nick worked there for the last two years?” Other than that example^ I doubt they go into the verification “weeds” with so many applicants around the country.
Hi, thanks for the video! I just graduated undergrad this month, and won’t apply until next cycle (so I’d be submitting in May 2025.) Can I ask undergrad professors for letters of rec now when I am fresh in their minds? If PA schools are reading letters of rec from a year or two ago, will they frown upon this? Thanks!
@themexican PA, I’m applying, some of my programs are due in September (09/01/24) and October, should I not consider those schools given the time line ?
Thank you for this amazing and helpful vid! I am submitting my application in 2 days, but I only have 2 supplementals completed. During the verification process, will I be able to submit more supplementals or do I have to wait till it's verified? Thanks!!
Hi friend! Glad you enjoyed the video! You can submit additional supplementals during the verification process! Often times students will apply to one program to start the verification process and then move on to the other supplementals!
so I ended up using professional transcript entry (for pharmcas). but i am confused, I have to submit my applications to the schools first before PTE can enter my grades?
You have to submit your CASPA application to at least one school for the verification process to happen. Only after your caspa application is verified, will you be able to see the official caspa gpa calculations that are shown in this video (after my transcripts, around the 9 min mark - ua-cam.com/video/ayme3cGdmVM/v-deo.htmlsi=F7RViPthfuJWWOo2) I hope that answers your question! Saludos 👨🏻⚕️🇲🇽
All my life I had been preparing to apply to medical school. I did but now im realizing PA better aligns with my values, family, work life balance, financial independence. Now I am scrambling to learn the prerequisites for PA. I deeply appreciate your chanel !!! Si se puede!!!🇲🇽 Quick question- What if I am taking courses during my application like human anatomy and medical terms, can I still apply? I got a bs in neuroscience which covered all my MD prereq, but for PA school Im still missing 5 courses
Hi friend! Thank you for the support! Regarding your question it is program specific, hence you’ll want to do your research and confirm those details for each program. Some programs do not allow any of the science prerequisites to be in progress, some only allow non science classes…again depends on each programs specific policy. Also to complete those additional classes, I would highly advise looking into your local community college. That’s what I did…I took anatomy, physiology, and microbiology. It was a lot easier to get an A than if I would have completed em at UCLA. 😂 just being real 🫡 Hope that answers your pregunta! Claro que se puede🙏🏼🇲🇽💪🏼
I'm in the same boat. I had prepared for years for medical school, but have recently realized that role of a PA is better fitting for me. How have you been navigating the change? I'm trying to apply to PA schools this cycle, but it is so different from AMCAS, I feel like I'm doing everything wrong. This video is super helpful, though!
@Jade Garcia Hola! I've made a spreadsheet on each of the schools I plan to apply for and what there requisits look like. Some programs even mention that only some courses taken via online because of the pandemic will be allowed and others say no online,so as he mentioned it is school dependant. I've spoken to some PA school admission advisors and they've told me that they will accept CC credits. If you'd like we can connect through IG or email Also good luck you got this!!!!
I watched this video this time last year to prepare my application. I will be starting PA school in May. Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you for sharing this. I'm currently investigating the process of PA school.
