I used to love my Vega One protein powder. I started taking it to ensure I was getting all my daily vitamins and minerals. I recently discovered that they changed the look of the label. Their website says, "new look, same great taste." But what it doesn't tell you is the nutritional value of the product has also changed. I'm so sad and annoyed because I really love this product. Now I'm on the hunt for a new protein powder. Feel free to leave your suggestions in the comment section.

Thank you for making this video. I was also thrown off by the new label but did not think much of it. I've been eating this stuff with just water for almost 10 years now and I took one sip of the new stuff (chocolate) and immediately was thrown off. It tastes bad. Started googling. Sure enough, my long time friend vega one is no more. It is heart breaking.
It’s SO heartbreaking!! I didn’t even realize the taste had changed because I didn’t bother trying it. A few people have commented that the taste is bad. Why would anyone bother continuing taking this product now? So sad!

Hi there. It's 7 months since your video but I've been buying Vega One in Canada for the past couple of years so I don't know if the difference is between countries but I am SO disappointed in seeing all the ingredients they removed (and hiked the price and changed the quantity from 834g to 687g which is an 18% decrease!).
Here are the changes I saw, looking quickly: No grapeseed extract, no mangosteen, no broccoli powder (which was 5th on the list), no marine algae, no maqui powder, no goji powder, no tomato (so no lycopene) they added quinoa, chia, pumpkin seed and sunflower seed protein (which means it’s somehow extracted I guess, if not, they'd say sunflower seeds), instead of pomegranate powder, it’s pomegranate juice powder, and they added vitamin Bs instead of getting them from the produce.
So the vitamin % content has changed, and no more Vitamin E
Comparing my two containers, the older one I preferred had 180 cal, the new one is 140 cal. Ah! I just noticed that in order to reduce the calories, the scoop is smaller: 38g instead of 42g.
I have digestive issues and for the FIRST TIME had found a powder that works with my system. SO DISAPPOINTED!
I'll write to the company as well.
Based on the size and ingredients, it possible that you bought a different variety of Vega? Their all in one shake on the website still says >800g, with mangosteen, grapeseed , etc. Maybe you got Vega essentials or protein and greens instead?
@@Cimreau Are you looking at the Canadian or US website? I contacted Vega and was told the US and Canadian are completely different because they are "different markets". That explains what I was seeing. I now have a friend buy the product in Canada and when they visit the US, they bring them along and ship them to me. It's very surprising to me that the product has the same name, same image but the ingredients are totally different for neighbouring countries.
@@anniepaquette oh you're right, I was looking at Canadian site. Now I see you are correct about the smaller US size with different formulation.
I returned protein powder products to Vega and they want me to sign a legal release of liability form before they refund my money.
We live in California but it shouldn’t matter where we live. IF the company wants consumer to sign release of liability form, it should be BEFORE we decide to consume the product - not after.
Once I got the release I really started to really wonder about VEGA products- then I came across this video.

I have drank Vega almost every day for 5 years until now. The new one is absolutely HORRID it tastes like flour. I'm so disappointed in this company. Thanks for the video, I was trying to figure out if this was some kind of brand knock off, I can't believe a company would do this to themselves. Lost a lifetime customer in me.
You are definitely not alone in your disappointment. SO many people are upset by the change. It’s all so they could expand into other countries. I’d be curious how many customers they are going to lose over this. And will they get the same loyal customers as we once were because it tastes SO bad! Who would buy a second bottle?!

Thanks for posting this. I've been consuming Vega One since 2004 5x's a week.
Yesterday was the first time I was aware of the Lead and Cadium levels so if that's why they changed the formula, ok.
However they removed the nutrients and increased the price significantly.
I moved on to Garden of Life.
I had no idea about this. I've been on Vega One for years and knew the label had changed but didn't have an old container to compare the contents. At the cost of these items, this shouldn't be happening. I'll be looking elswhere as well. Thanks so much for this.

I picked up the new labeled vega one chocolate yesterday and this morning when I was drinking it , it tasted different. Not enjoyable at all! So I compared ingredients and nutritional values against my old container and was not impressed!
I’m not excited to have my shake any more . I’m going to email the company to see if they can do anything for me.

Me too!!!! I’m so glad I’m not the only one. They said they changed suppliers and eliminated an ingredient so they can expand into other markets. So disappointing because I loved it so much.

I just got my first tub of the new product (lazily didn't even consider that the contents would be different) and immediately noticed a difference in taste and consistency! I also feel like there is WAY more sweetener in it than before, it tastes sickly sweet now. Now that I know it's essentially a shameless money grab I won't be buying again. For the price it's just not worth it
I've been buying Vega for my mom for years, she used to like it, but after trying this new one she said not to buy it again. I buy her AURA Plant Based Protein now - the proteins are fermented and/sprouted, and it's much easier to digest. It's also the best tasting one we've tried.
Thanks for making this video, I thought I was losing my mind. I've been using Vega shake for the last 6 years, it was the only brand I liked, now it sucks and I don't know what to do. This company deserves to lose all of its customers. Sad

I found one I liked but they have now discontinued it! Argh!!! I have two bottles left of that one and then I’m on the hunt for a new one. I’ll let you know if I find a good one. 🤞
I have also been drinking this everyday for the past 5 years or so. Not anymore. I’m so disappointed it’s crap now. And the worst part is they tried to hide it and say it was just a new look. I won’t support the brand anymore because of how shady they were about the change. 😢
Yes!! So shady! I hate that they tried to pass it off as a ‘new look’ everyone I know who has tried the new version says it tastes horrible. Plus it isn’t as nutritious as before. Sad.
Thank you for this video! I always enjoyed this product but recently it has begun causing me bloating and acid reflux and stomach discomfort......so so upset as it never affected me badly before. Now i'm at a loss....have a bunch of these tubs in my pantry and don't trust to consume. In fact...i don't trust much of anything to consume any longer....except from local organic non gmo farmers. Makes it really tough to eat here in western canada with our long winters.
After years of using the Vega All-in-one Unsweetened Natural shake, I just bought the new version. While comparing the nutrition label with an older container, I noticed it's 30 calories more per serving and definitely mostly fewer vitamins & minerals than the previous version. One big difference in the ingredients is that the hemp protein has been replaced with xanthan gum, which is a thickening agent. I don't think it has much nutritional value and is basically being used to bulk up the product. Will try it this one time and then will most likely switch brands. I'll scan the comments for other product suggestions. Also, when will makers of protein shakes package their products in compostable packaging instead of giant plastic tubs? I've reused many, but I've reached the saturation point.

Thanks for this video. I hadn’t bought Vega for a while, then purchased it recently and thought it tasted super sweet and not good. I mix it with avocado and some veg but still sweet. Then a friend recently mentioned the brand quality changed so I thought I’d research it. Now it’s confirmed.
So disappointed with this change as I was a fan of Vega One.
I buy an algae powder that is packed with nutrition so now I will search for a plain plant-based protein powder that doesn’t have sweetener in it. I’ll let you know what I find.
My “trusted” brand is going to change. Guess we need to be aware these things happen and be open to continual research and willingness to try new brands that are transparent and have values that place their customers above their shareholders. Grrr. So annoying.
Great way to think about it - being willing to research and try new things. It’s just disappointing to find a good product you like and then find out they changed. And the annoying thing is they tried to just say only the packaging had changed. So false!

Thank you so much for doing this video. I'm so disappointed that they changed it. It WAS something quick and easy that I could rely on but now I can't even tolerate the taste or smell and it messes with my stomach.😮💨 Did you find an alternative by any chance? I'm in Canada too.😏
Sadly I haven’t found the perfect thing yet. I’ve been using the jamieson whey protein and adding greens to it. It doesn’t mix well at all which is very frustrating. I’m still on the hunt for a good one. If you find one come back and let me know. 🙂

Just bought this today and compared it to the original just like you did and I felt sad. I’ve been drinking this almost daily for YEARS and it really upset me that they chose to reduce the nutritional content … that’s the whole reason I was drinking it. I’ll be looking elsewhere for my nutritional protein supplement - hit me up with any suggestions they will be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏽💜

Damn girl, thanks for letting me know. I was wondering about the new labelling and was just about to get a tub on sale. This is a little disheartening because Vega has become the gold standard for plant-based protein powders. After ruining my gut in my 20's with high calorie, proprietary whey protein powders I was so happy to find a product like Vega. I mean, it's still a better alternative, haha. But, I can't help but think that they are using their consumer base to cash-in while providing less quality nutrition unbeknownst to many of their loyal customers. I agree completely with what you said at the end. I really couldn't care less about taste, it's just a luxury. All that really matters is the nutritional value. I'm going to email them as well to let them know I'm not particularly happy about the change. I will be researching other brands to see what alternatives there are. Anyway, thanks for letting us know!
Apparently they sold the company to a big American one and they are the ones that made the change. It is such a shame because so many people are unhappy. It was a great product that I loved. It is disappointing when a company changes something for the worse for more profit.

The Shaklee Life Shake plant based protein that I love. It is the most well tested for purity of products and how well the bioavailability is for your body.
I was vega one dependent the years I lived in Canada and always wonder why I could never get them overseas, I still miss them so so much, never tasted something even close to it. The hemp powder was probably the reason. Its very clear hemp is a superfood someone do not want us to consume.
Thanks for your video!. Vivo Life is a good protein powder…the taste well, depends on your expectations. But it is just a protein powder, not more, which for sure is a disadvantage against vega all in one.

If it looks like the old one then it is probably the old batch but be careful about the expiry dates. I went and bought up old stock but eventually the expiry dates were past. Sadly.
If you research, their product changed because of heavy metal content, there were lawsuits and it became banned in California…

I swear the old Vega One i have at home only had about 3-4 ingredients in it (will have to look) but in searching for a protein powder i wanted one without ANY sugar substitues. No Stevia, monk fruit, etc. the old jars i have definitely don’t have these things. Now i find this product has them. Can’t use the new stuff now i guess. The search begins again…

My suggestion is take a solid vitamin and mineral supplement. Then use pea protein combined with hemp and if you want add rice protein.
One of the less consider point is “why does one want to take an All in one when it gives control away to the manufacturers. It may not be as convenient as an All in one however as a regular user of VegaOne I avoided purchasing this new label for the reasons you brought up. Eventually my regular nutrition store sold out and only has this new crap.
Keep in mind Brendan Brazier and his partner sold the company back in 2015 for 550 million. It doesn’t take long for the vision to go out the window and be replaced with garbage at the expense of the customer’s health and wallet. Paying the same amount for an inferior product is unacceptable!
The Garden of Life product is good but the label needs a magnifying glass to read🧐

Im still in the hunt but i have been using the sports Vega protein and i add hemp and chia.

Been with the brand for 15 years… this is a terrible change… I went out and bought a pile of the old stuff because the new stuff is nowhere close to the same quality

It looks like we can’t get that up here in Canada. Have you tried it? Maybe other people can comment on if this one is good or not. The ingredients look good.

I had a great whey protein powder for my musculation then they changed the ingredients in it, it became very bad ! But then the usa increase the price of taxes for exportation to my country so I even gave up to try at finding a new one !
It’s so annoying when companies do that! I’m on the hunt for a new one. I find most of them taste gross.
Sadly, even with the change; I feel like it's still the best one out there for us in Canada.
