It is interesting to note on one of the camps I was tasked to attack a bonus goal was to kill without using the X-ray vision to pre-plan. It made it very immersive and tense. i applaud Sucker Punch for acknowledging this and adding it as a bonus.
@@ZeroHxC07 agreed!!! That would have been wild and would've shown Sucker Punch really going all the way with their much more immersive approach to an open world game (that's in addition to how there's barely any hud, the wind showing you which direction to go, the incredible combat, etc.)
No mention of its loading time its a god damn miracle that its such a huge game and loads and fast travels in mere seconds instead of minutes each time .
i've seen a few bugs myself but it's definitely a 10/10 for me. sometimes i just love walking around and visiting places because it's the most beautiful game i've ever seen. combat is some of the most fun and engaging i've seen and it's so satisfying when you do it right, especially during the boss fights i thought the combat was simple at first, but it really cranks it up later on when you have to fight multiple enemies at once that really know what they're doing. the bow is also amazing. pretty OP but i've been in the middle of a fight and headshot 4-5 enemies in a row and they were just dropping like flies and the audio cues just make it feel so good. the Ghost doesn't play exactly like i thought it would. it's more focused on extra tools you can get and just breaking a moral code by choosing to fight dirty over honor. at first i wanted it to play more like a ninja assassin but i do like how it kinda merges with his normal combat. he's just becoming a really badass samurai that's willing to do anything to win. in the end, i actually like it this way better my favorite way to play right now is just hard mode, no damage reduction charms with the traveler's coat on. i have the 2nd combat armor but i just like the design of the traveler's coat and it makes every fight feel extremely dangerous with little to no armor. while i have enjoyed running around and doing the crazy assassination combos, my favorite thing is usually to challenge them all at once and devastate them with parries and bursts of speed and instakills
@@WorthABuyreviews I know the feeling lol. I played console almost exclusively for 20+ years before switching mostly to PC. I still find myself plugging in a controller every now and then for some pc games... I have found that some games are significantly easier with pc controls as well though
@@campkira I disagree. I know for a lot of people with varying tastes that some of their favourite games came out over the last couple of years. Looking at just summer 2020, there aren't actually many releases at all so that doesn't say much. That said I'm sure there's those who think TLOU2, Catherine full body and for me Wasteland 3 are probably going to be better games or more their taste. Drawing it out to 2020. There was Doom, animal crossing, Resident evil 3, Nioh 2, Half life Alyx, Yakuza like a dragon, Monster hunter iceborn, Pillars of eternity deadfire for console, Persona 5 royal, Trials of mana, Phantasy star online 2, Vampire the Masquerade bloodlines 2 which I'm excited for and Cyberpunk 2077.

"It's got a huge draw distance as well, so you can see things in the distance." 100% 👌
"Not the best looking game" me: stopping every 30 secs to take a picture and be amazed. Best ps4 game I've played since god of war, really probably one of my favourite games ever. They really outdid themselves.
I'm glad that I wasn't the only one that experienced an issue while in "showdown" mode. The first time it happened was when the third enemy would not move at all after many minutes ... at first I thought that this was the most patient warrior in the world trying to feign into making the first move, but then I after having more third warriors just pause there after seeing his friends die ... that's when I realized this is definitely a bug that needs to be patched, lol.
I have to say that for a game thats built to be able to run on 2012 hardware of the PS4. It's remarkable how good the game looks. A game like this would be incredible on a PC with the higher end hardware we have. GAHH I WANT IT
Every modern game is designed to run of 2012 hardware including every game with an official release date as of the date of my comment. The exception being PC exclusives. Actually a lot of games are designed to run on primitive nintendo or handheld hardware. Ghosts isn't the best looking game running on that hardware. It's not the most ambitious or complicated game either.
@@7dayspking It's by far one of the best looking games on a console. And considereding the specs of a base level PS4. It's impressive what they can do.
@@Plague_Doc22 Every console game has to run on a base PS4 and by your own admission it's not the best looking, not impressive. Not just not the best looking, not the biggest, most technically impressive, polished or ambitious either. It's just another decent looking console open world game.
I knew the stealth AI had to be messed up because even most of the big reviewers talked about it. They didn’t just completely ignore the bad side like they usually do.
AI is the main area that cross gen games will hold back next gen. Graphics and frame rate can scale by AI and physics cannot which is why I’m excited for what PlayStation is doing by not having anymore games on the PS4
idk, if a decades old game like FEAR could have amazing AIs, then hardwares aren't really the main problems imo. I think it's more to do with game design intricacies in software engineering itself. Just a reminder that MGSV was a cross gen with PS3 & that game also have some of the best AIs & game design.
It's a very good game indeed. I've been playing it since release day and it's a blast. Looks great, plays even better. I will also add to this review that the loadings are very, very fast for an open world game.
I am right there with you on this. I freaking love this game. I don't think anyone could legit score this lower than an 8. I bet they fix the issues, but I don't think that should factor into a review just to be clear. Bottom line is that I hardly ever get games day one, with this game I gladly did. Totally worth $60.
'no one could score this lower than an 8'...if you consider most AAA games 8s I could see that. If you consider let's say 5 'average' it's easy to see how this could score much lower than 8.
@@7dayspking I look at it like a grade on a test. Ride to Hell would be like signing your name on the paper and turning it in. Broken buggy games that are void of any fun are any variety of a F. Average would be a C to me. A competent game that has issues, but they tried, like Technomancer. Most every game in my collection would be 8 and up with a few 7's.
@@cletustrainer 'most games in my collections are at least 8s'. Exactly. Basically any competent game is an 8. But most full priced games are roughly competent. If everything is an 8, then there's no 5's. 5 isn't 'average', it's 'the worst thing ever'. Being an 8 has no meaning, it's not a sign of excellence just basic competence.
Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro, Nioh, Dark Souls, AC, The Witcher 3... What great games! It doesn't matter which is better, just play them all! Unforgettable experiences, fantastic! We are really lucky gamers!
I know right? Whether fast travel across the map or restarting failed missions or dying, load times are 5 6 seconds max. Dont know how they did it. Sucker Punches next game on PS5 shouldn't even have load times.
I seriously hope next gen starts to take AI seriously. Honest to god, it's the one element of game design that has been totally stuck in the past for the last 10+ years.
Spot on Mack. The AI out of combat amazes me how they thought would be ok. Combat is awesome and the camera needs some tweaking. Thanks for the honest review.
@@driftFD exactly how he stated. In combat they are absolutely dangerous and effective..... Outside of combat they are how should I say a little lost. If not in combat they lose interest in dead bodies laying around in just a few seconds. They also will only look for you for about 10 seconds at the most. If they fix that I would have almost no other complaint.
Great review, but just missing a few aspects of the game that really are rewarding that I would like to add. 1.) Legend Missions to unlock new special attacks and special armor. These are fun and often come down to a duel which WAB totally forgot to mention. Good writing as well outside of the story missions. Yes the missions can be samey, but often come with good writing and story that make you want to do them. Just great writing everywhere even on side missions. 2.) Side Quests are plentiful and meaningful as they give you good resources for unlocking more ammo amounts, armor upgrades, etc. 3.) General events in the world like a hostage rescue situation often gets you more intel towards another side mission. Making random encounters worth more than Assassins Creed that would just throw combat at you for the sake of combat. 4.) The dueling system is quite difficult. When you have a story based duel that occurs it can be quite difficult. 5.) The wind mechanic to guide you to your next map point. They literally use particle effects and wind animations to guide your character to a point of interest you mark on the map, which keeps you grounded in the world and I actually really like this almost like a calming part of the game getting you to the next point. 6.) Haiku moments are really special which allow you to craft haiku's while looking at the game world. 7.) Armor designs are spectacular! The Gosaku armor and even the Saikai Armor are such awesome designs. You unlock more of the armor set with each upgrade and unlock special perks. When you begin with the armor its pretty bare, but when you fully upgrade it the helmet design changes and the main armor will be beefier looking. I liked this upgrade system, not deep, but the visual aspect of it is amazing. 8.) Only play this game on hard the other modes are too handicapped to really enjoy the combat.
Glad you wound up liking it Mack. Feels like a Horizon Zero Dawn where it's not reinventing the wheel but it is rather an example of what a triple-a open world game should be
It's a shame that the routine is "shit game, shit game, shit game, 8/10 game, shit game, shit game, decent game, once in a blue moon amazing game" instead of "decent game, decent game, great game, decent game, amazing game, bad game, good game"
Kinda make sense as the development cycle also close to HZD. Sucker Punch made Infamous Second Son at the start of PS4, now GHOST at the end of PS4 era.
8/10 from Mack is pretty high praise1 I honestly can't wait to try it. Buddy your reviews are some of the only ones I trust, as we share many (not all) views regarding games, I was watching a playthrough but I think I'm gonna stop and pick it up.
Buy this game ! Don’t think about it buy it you will not regret it. There is a learning curve for stances and a whole lot more but once you get it down it is amazingly smooth. This is the game I have been waiting for for a very long time. Sucker punch I applaud you . Completely knocked it out of the park and took your time with this. I don’t mind delays if games turn out like this. Ubisoft I have played every single assassins creed game you have ever put out excluding the new one coming out and I guarantee it won’t even get close to holding a candle to this game . Take notes cause you guys are really lacking in the step it up department, you have been replaced. Sucker punch you keep dishing them out like that and I’ll keep buying them . Awesome job 👍.
GOTY for me. I don't normally get into open world games, or care about a game's story, but this game sucked me right in. Love the combat, the atmosphere, the free fleshed out multiplayer update, the stealth, the upgrades, not a ton of busy work. Phenomenal game honestly. Never experienced many bugs really (I got it late, they could have fixed it before I got it)
Finaly an honest review that shows the clear weaknesses of this game - BUT i am a bit surprised you didnt realy mention the good use of color and light that creates some realy amazing looking scenes - even if textures are definately lacking - the overall visual quality specialy with HDR is one of the best on ps4!
Am in act 2 and I haven't encountered a bug of any kind so far so guess I'm lucky, but I'm glad you praised the combat because I was hooked from the opening battle And I agree with you on the dumb idle AI I've taken out numerous bases with only bow headshots, but you can't talk about the quest quality when you skipped half of em like most reviewers to get it out on time
I encountered one where my game glitched out during a standoff. I killed the guy ,but also took damage then Jin would damage enemies without swinging his sword, lol.
@@HandleMcHandleface it mean you don't try to go where clearly cannot... i keeping get stuck on thing but the infamous code get me off of it... no gaming breaking bug...
Loving this game. Haven't felt like this since I was a kid. I can't wait to go home and play. If you play like me where you only log in a couple hours a day the game is long enough. I remember I couldn't get through RDR2 because it was so long and I only got like 3 hours to play a day.
I really gotta commend you on the fairness in your reviews, you're usually very on target in my opinion. The best part is that you don't get overly excited and forget about all the other games out there, and that you actually have a pretty good idea on what to consider with most games. Thanks for all the content
I've got a normal ps4 and I have no idea about such things. Why would it be better to play it on ps5? Will you be using the same disc or will it be a complete new release?
@@getstrongby4038 As far as I know, almost all PS4 games will be playable on PS5, but only the more popular games will be enhanced. So Ghost of Tsushima should be playable with the same PS4 disc on PS5, AND take advantage of the new consoles power to increase resolution and framerate.
Wow! Favourite console game. I didn't see that coming at all mack, and you've made my mind up about buying it as I was on the fence really. Great review and glad to see you actually enjoying a console game
Feel this review is a bit harsh. The game on PS5 is stunning. Although the stealth aspect was slightly crap. But the entertaining and challenging combat makes up for it.
Do you mean to tell me that, at the end of the revenge plot, the main character actually gets to settle things with the person who wronged them rather than just letting them go or dying in the process? How did that plot make it into a game made in the USA in the current year?
Joel kills Abbys father, 100 fireflies, and hope for a cure Abby kills Joel (only) ((spares ellie )) Ellie kills all of Abbys friends and half of Seattle Abby beats tf out of Ellie & Dina (( spares Ellie AGAIN)) I don’t understand how abby spares Ellie TWICE and people hate the fact that Ellie finally finds compassion sympathy & ability to let the bs go. 🤨
*SPOILERS!!!!!* Jin pays for what he’s done properly. The methods he uses eventually make the people he cares about question and betray him. Although he wins at the end of the day, he loses much in his crusade against the mongols. It’s a beautifully written story that tells revenge in a poetic fashion. Fulfilling what the consumer expects, while also surprising them in a thoughtful way. I really love the evolution of Jin and Sucker Punch’s take on a good revenge story.
Really good review, glad you liked it, and I agree with majority of what you said, camera can be a knightmare, fighting is challenging but brilliant makes you feel like a proper badass when it all comes together. Definitely my favourite ps4 game
The stealth is supposed to be easy i think, its explained early on in the game that it is the cowards way to fight. Master the stances and parry timing and go full samurai.
Easily the best game on PS4. Absolutely loving every second of this. Top tip if this is something that matters to you. Swipe right on slide pad to sheath sword. Was doin ma nut in having to wait for Jin to automatically do it. Something so satisfying about flicking the blood off your blade then sheathing after a duel🥰
Damn wish I had known this, am sick of running around like a madman especially in shield stance with a damn sword above my head for 1 minute after the battle :)
My first impressions were great. Especially for someone who appretiates Samurai style games and culture like me. I think they did spend a lot of time in getting design just right. I just hope they continue to update with content and story because usually, for me, on single-player games, you get satisfied with the game and move on to something else early on.
"I'm not gonna do it!" "I don't feel like I relate to the modern gamer" "All modern games are garbage" "Hey I like this!" I love you Mack, never change :')
Days 2 and 3 in Seattle with Ellie was the most intense, brilliantly crafted gameplay experience of my life. It was relentless. Street WLF, two zombie houses, set piece in river straight into SCARS finishing with the hospital I think. Overwhelming gaming experience.
Pass your IELTS If I didn’t like the combat scenarios in TLOU 1, is there still hope for me liking that section in 2? I own both games, but I stopped playing 2 (nothing to do with what all the whiners cry about, I just personally wasn’t having much fun). But I didn’t get to day 2/3, so you’ve piqued my interest
I thought the combat was fun for a bit, but overall I found it very formulaic. The matching of the four stances to the four classes was a bit obvious and took all the hard work out of it. Changing stances is cool but that's about it. The standoffs were also initially very cool, but soon became extremely repetitive. The stories were ok, but I didn't find any of the characters truly engaging. Again it felt a bit formulaic. My favourite part was just travelling around the world. I thought that was very well done. I also liked collecting the various armour and weapons. That wasn't enough to carry me beyond the first island, though. Oh - also I wanted the game in Japanese because the characters are Japanese and it's based on Kurasawa so it felt more thematically appropriate, but the lip syncing issue was so bad that I left the character's mask on for the whole game. On a similar note, most facial animations weren't bad, but the ones for the main character were pretty awful. So... probably worth playing for something to do, but I didn't find it anywhere near as engaging as something like Horizon Zero Dawn where there's a lot more creativity.
That’s cool because I think Detroit Become Human and Ghost of Tsushima are my 2 favorite ps4 games. Well also The Last of Us remastered. Haven’t played TLOU2 yet. I love games that are cinematic and beautiful. Games are truly works of art now. PS4 is incredible.
Alex Shayatovich wow maybe I should try that. I just played normal difficulty. Awesome. Yea not sure why I got Ghost before TLOU2 when the first one was one of my favorite games ever. Just super happy all these amazing games are there. I think I also like changing it up.
dbh is now aviable in pc... but this game will alway be right next to my tv... finish the game and clearing side story... well writing... like a japanese tv show...
@Aaron K It's kinda like AC in some ways. It had a Breath of the Wild feel to it, too. In an open world sense. It feels like a game on it's own at the end of the day. No clue why you're saying this, makes me think you haven't even played the game at all.
The AI is nonexistent, that's for sure. I was hoping MGSV would've reinvigorated the stealth genre, because if you killed too many guys, you would have to move from your cover or they would find you. Playing that game was like "oh shit, _this_ is what stealth will have to be like going forward, everything else is bunk." I'm the farthest thing from a Metal Gear or Kojima fan, but that game was great. I also didn't use the X-ray vision in this either. It didn't make sense whatsoever to do so. Batman has his "detective vision," Spiderman has Spidey Sense, the Assassin's had their Eagle Vision baked in as plot armor from the beginning so I can't even be mad at that, but like Joel in Last of Us, this, or any non-fantasy game is absurd for having X-ray vision.
i was watching a cut scene and i'm pretty sure that even when its Japanese, the lip-syncing is for english. I guess they just didn't bother or something......or I'm just wrong
I can't imagine many games will bother redoing the lip-syncing for different languages, it seems like it'll be a lot more work. I've played a couple of games that have Japanese and English dialogue and from what I've seen they've either been lip synced for one or the other, I haven't played enough games like that to say that it doesn't happen though, I've only played a couple. Thinking about it though, an awful lot of effort will go into a game like this just syncing it once, I can't imagine many would go to the effort of doing it more than that. Maybe I'm wrong about that too
@@xMTxcameron From what I've heard all the lip syncing was done for the English option. I'm sure it'll upset many people but given that it's something that probably takes quite a bit of time to program English is the option that makes the most sense considering how international this title's consumption is. Hopefully they plan to patch in a Japanese option as well at some point.
@@TerraWare Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I imagine programming the lip syncing once would take a lot of time and effort never mind having to program it for a second time, so that makes a lot of sense to me. I honestly can't imagine many developers taking the time to program the lip syncing for multiple languages for their games. But yeah, it would be nice they take the time to patch it in

You are correct I have to be very careful what I say now, not in the sense you explained it though. For example this review was scathing of many aspects of the game so am not bothered about pissing off fanboys or developers but I can't speak freely with jokes, I would be arrested.

this is the game i've waited 22? years for since falling in love with tenchu stealth assassins on the dreamcastlol.. it's like an erotic interactive oil painting. I've probs put nearly 20 hours into it and i still havent completed half of the 'first' part of the map :D so much time wasted on taking screenshots, and 'trotting' about on my horse, 'Kage', in no rush just absorbing the beauty of it.. What a way for sony, and sucker to end this generation. TLoU2 and now this, both are incredible works of art in their own right. Goty goes to Tsushima in my opinion, but you know what way the crazy libs will bend when awarding it..
Exactly! This is definitely a game you want to get lost in sometimes I'll just play my flute wile walking through a beautiful forest with brightly covered leaves taking everything in its therapeutic. I've been mainly doing side stuff I don't want to rush this masterpiece.
I love the game, but no. Horizon, RDR2 and TLOU2 have better graphics and looks better overall. God of War is in that club too. But, it doesn't mean GoT is not magnificent. It is just more modest technically. The fact that GoT is less technically ambitious or impressive doesn't matter much, because the devs actually made good choice of technical balance in my opinion. In the end, it is still very beautiful and, with a lot of personality. My personal fav is HZD. And GoT is actually a similar proposition.
Watching all the previews of this game I was dreading it. But watching your review, seeing that the combat isn't the usual dumbed down childish handholding rubbish is a breath of fresh air. A game can have its flaws but if it's fun and immersive thats the main thing. I'm here for a game not a film. Definitely buying this now. Thanks Mack.
After the scandals with the spoilers a few months back, Mac said he will not touch that game due to Naughty Dog's behavior, who sued youtubers who even mentioned the word spoilers.
After playing a solid 5 hours on Saturday myself I had a feeling you might enjoy, but not as much as you have. Glad you are as the combat is so fluid does make up for the small faults.
I wish you would of touched on the Wind Compass. You almost went in to it and backed off. It's the most beautiful thing about the game. It eliminates the need for a HUD and it prevents you from spamming your map every 30 seconds. More games should really use a system like this. It is single handily the best thing about the game outside the combat. If anyone reads this. you hit your pad on the PS4 controller and the wind will blow, directing you to the direction you should be going. It's always blowing, but if you use the pad itll give you a quick burst to help you on the way. It's beautiful when paired with all the colorful leaves, and grass, etc. Amazing. Good review like always though WAB!

I absolutely respect and thank Sucker Punch for creating such a beautiful game and the chance to immerse yourself as either a samurai or assassin, with that said I am very happy that they chose the setting and theme of Feudal Japan. I have not played the game yet due to financial reasons, but am watching streamers on twitch who are playing it and at first glance and further inspection here are my thoughts: - Being into Samurai culture and watching many old school Japanese Samurai films, I wanted something a little more hardcore (Who knows maybe the difficulty will spice things up to my liking), what I am referring to are a few points: *The stealth, I have enjoyed many stealth games, sneaking up on enemies with back turns to get that quiet clean kill, however with this game I expected more, I don't find it believable that enemies could be so un-vigilant, like have a few enemies that are more vigilant and perceptive than some other grunts. I guess I wanted something more close to human; AI randomly turning and moving their heads, turning around randomly, looking down and up, heck even scratching their armpits or back! etc. (kind of like what they did with the Last of Us 2 AI's) *A fresh clean start, I wanted an almost hardcore Samurai progression, this one is great don't get me wrong, what I was looking for was starting off as a youngster from the ground up, training in dojos getting your ass whopped by your partner with bokkens, and eventually developing your style depending on the area or region you are born into, chain and sickle, bo staff, spear, dual wielding (Niten Ichi-Ryu, the famous style of Musashi Miyamoto), etc. Being able to travel to different parts of Japan to study and challenge these styles just like Miyamoto-san did. I know this is alot and such development would take many years to possibly pull off in order to make some special and polish at the same time grandeur. In conclusion, I appreciate what you did Sucker Punch, you really evolved as a development team and created almost a stepping stone or checkpoint in this new day in age for games similar to this style to be inspired and to create something amazing and beautiful for the fans.
This is my game of the year Ghost just set the bar for Open world games this is how you do open world! The combat never gets boring you can live out your dream of being a badass samurai the world will have you immersed. There's so much do so much to explore this is a 10 a masterpiece

@@ZeroHxC07 agreed!!! That would have been wild and would've shown Sucker Punch really going all the way with their much more immersive approach to an open world game (that's in addition to how there's barely any hud, the wind showing you which direction to go, the incredible combat, etc.)
Yeah, the camps dont feel super repetitive and its because they add little challenges like this.
ZeroHxC07 Then it wouldn’t be called X-ray 😂
No mention of its loading time its a god damn miracle that its such a huge game and loads and fast travels in mere seconds instead of minutes each time .
They actually slowed down the loading times too because the game was loading too quickly you couldn't read the tips in the menus.
It takes like 5 seconds to load things its amazing
I am impressed with the quick loads too haha they really did a good job there!
I'm suprised every time. Especially since Fallen Order was the last similar game I've played.
This must be a console problem, glad it's getting fixed :)
i've seen a few bugs myself but it's definitely a 10/10 for me. sometimes i just love walking around and visiting places because it's the most beautiful game i've ever seen. combat is some of the most fun and engaging i've seen and it's so satisfying when you do it right, especially during the boss fights
i thought the combat was simple at first, but it really cranks it up later on when you have to fight multiple enemies at once that really know what they're doing.
the bow is also amazing. pretty OP but i've been in the middle of a fight and headshot 4-5 enemies in a row and they were just dropping like flies and the audio cues just make it feel so good.
the Ghost doesn't play exactly like i thought it would. it's more focused on extra tools you can get and just breaking a moral code by choosing to fight dirty over honor. at first i wanted it to play more like a ninja assassin but i do like how it kinda merges with his normal combat. he's just becoming a really badass samurai that's willing to do anything to win. in the end, i actually like it this way better
my favorite way to play right now is just hard mode, no damage reduction charms with the traveler's coat on. i have the 2nd combat armor but i just like the design of the traveler's coat and it makes every fight feel extremely dangerous with little to no armor.
while i have enjoyed running around and doing the crazy assassination combos, my favorite thing is usually to challenge them all at once and devastate them with parries and bursts of speed and instakills
best game of summer 2020 right now... compare to last year... if it come out last year.. it would be game of the year...
If your controller skills were on par with mine you would do none of the above :)
@@campkira yeah. I'm really torn between animal crossing and this for game of the year. Both really surprised me and I love both
@@WorthABuyreviews I know the feeling lol.

Got stuck into this for an hour or so yesterday. The combat and characters are awesome.
One time I was on the ground and when I did stand off in was at the top of a mountain in azamo bay
I'm happy to hear you like the story everyone else is crying it's to seruios like everything has to be "marvel" and have shit jokes
Honestly marvel and its universe is basically based on a comic book for children.
Marvel went down the shitter many moons ago, always said DC was superior, films like 'Joker' prove my point.
To Serious??? They gave TLOU2 a 10/10 and masterpiece status, whats to serious
Really people are saying that about the story, thats exactly why I loved the story.
The only Marvel movie I'll thoroughly enjoy and watch is Blade. All of them after Iron Man 1 have been designed for 12 year olds.

It will come to PC eventually, like Horizon and MCC
@@calebtheowl1516 I hope so. Just sucks having to wait ages.
Been waiting for this review from you!
I was just thinking about this review and the upload notification came up. Great timing as always, keep up the great work mack!
Mitchell P Which I don’t mind. Making games cross gen really fucks over the people that paid the money for a new console
idk, if a decades old game like FEAR could have amazing AIs, then hardwares aren't really the main problems imo.
I think it's more to do with game design intricacies in software engineering itself.
Just a reminder that MGSV was a cross gen with PS3 & that game also have some of the best AIs & game design.
Before you buy is usually the most honest Imo
@@crozraven MGSV has one of the bestz AIs? What? Did we play the same game?
@@7dayspking sounds like an opinion
I would score this game a solid 6/10 or even a 7 but not higher
I would say that they are all great for almost entitely different reasons (except about 80% of AC games which I think sucks).
Where is the love for the crazy fast loading times?
This is definitely one place the game surpasses Sekiro, much as I love that game. The load times are phenomenal!
I know right? Whether fast travel across the map or restarting failed missions or dying, load times are 5 6 seconds max. Dont know how they did it. Sucker Punches next game on PS5 shouldn't even have load times.
Your vids are the only ones I always like within the first 5 secs of them starting. :)
I seriously hope next gen starts to take AI seriously. Honest to god, it's the one element of game design that has been totally stuck in the past for the last 10+ years.
True, The Last Of Us 2 and Alien Isolation have some of the best AI this gen but could be better.
Spot on Mack. The AI out of combat amazes me how they thought would be ok. Combat is awesome and the camera needs some tweaking. Thanks for the honest review.
How is the AI?
Im finding this a hell of a lot better than horizon
Kinda make sense as the development cycle also close to HZD. Sucker Punch made Infamous Second Son at the start of PS4, now GHOST at the end of PS4 era.
Horizon feminist down sucks.
Most anticipated review of the year so far
My mans never watched 7 samurai! :O

Am in act 2 and I haven't encountered a bug of any kind so far so guess I'm lucky, but I'm glad you praised the combat because I was hooked from the opening battle
And I agree with you on the dumb idle AI I've taken out numerous bases with only bow headshots, but you can't talk about the quest quality when you skipped half of em like most reviewers to get it out on time
No bugs either

Loving this game. Haven't felt like this since I was a kid. I can't wait to go home and play. If you play like me where you only log in a couple hours a day the game is long enough. I remember I couldn't get through RDR2 because it was so long and I only got like 3 hours to play a day.

This game is at least 9.5 Anything else would be underrated
I would say a 9.7 is an accurate rating for my personal experience.
It’s damn near perfect and it’s so hard to put down. The only flaw for me is the camera angle sometimes.
I really gotta commend you on the fairness in your reviews, you're usually very on target in my opinion. The best part is that you don't get overly excited and forget about all the other games out there, and that you actually have a pretty good idea on what to consider with most games. When the 5 comes out im going to play it again on that. just to get a nice steady framerate with awesome graphics. (currently on normal old ps4 :()

Oh my.... you poor thing.

Jin pays for what he’s done properly.

My first impressions were great. Especially for someone who appretiates Samurai style games and culture like me. I think they did spend a lot of time in getting design just right. I just hope they continue to update with content and story because usually, for me, on single-player games, you get satisfied with the game and move on to something else early on.
This is the most authentic Samurai game I've ever played it doesn't get any better than this!

You says the magic words. “It’s better than Assassin’s Creed.” That’s all I needed to heard from you to give it a try.
I think my favorite PS4 game is still Detroit become Human. I love that type of game. That was a great review man.

Assassin’s Creed: Japan Edition
The first AC game in nearly ten years.
I was thinking Shadow of Mordor: Japan Edition...
@Aaron K Lol no it isn't, did you even watch the review?
@Aaron K It's kinda like AC in some ways. It had a Breath of the Wild feel to it, too. In an open world sense. It feels like a game on it's own at the end of the day. No clue why you're saying this, makes me think you haven't even played the game at all.
@Aaron K salty boi
But yeah, it would be nice they take the time to patch it in
Do anime creators completely redo their lip sync for the English dubs?
@@miliyn17 I watched a video about the process of dubbing Pokemon, and the voice actor had to match the English up with the original mouth movement.

It might be a different story on PS4 pro but on my base PS4 the last of us part 2 looked better
Been waiting for your review Mac!
This game seems surprisingly underrated. Easily one of the best games I've played in a long time, with a great story to boot.
"Underrated". An extremely critically acclaimed and insanely well selling game is "underrated"?
Thanks Mack for an honest review. Nobody else said anything about the bugs and shit.
I need a cup of tea for this one.
It is very late for hot caffein drinks.
@@michaeljohn2826 It's 11:55am...
@@michaeljohn2826 ive had about 6 so far today
Watching all the previews of this game I was dreading it. But watching your review, seeing that the combat isn't the usual dumbed down childish handholding rubbish is a breath of fresh air.
A game can have its flaws but if it's fun and immersive thats the main thing. I'm here for a game not a film.
Definitely buying this now. Thanks Mack.
Mack upset me today. I always join him on "lets read the words the words the words... of the developer." Thanks Mack XD
Execellent review sir. Hat off can't wait to play it!!!
Just about to go to bed, then this came up.
Thank you Mack for your honest review of Ghost of Tsushima. I like what you are doing. Great job!
Take the plunge. You cannot just do easy “good” games like this. Let’s hear your views on Lou2. It’s not fair to duck out.
After the scandals with the spoilers a few months back, Mac said he will not touch that game due to Naughty Dog's behavior, who sued youtubers who even mentioned the word spoilers.
@@AwithaS That's too bad. I would have loved, loved to hear Macs thoughts.
After playing a solid 5 hours on Saturday myself I had a feeling you might enjoy, but not as much as you have.
Glad you are as the combat is so fluid does make up for the small faults.
Makes me more glad I bought a ps4 instead of an xbox
Get both you peasant
Get both and a gaming pc. Why restrict yourself to just the one?
@@GavEfc01 u speak as if money grows on trees.
What's the point of getting both most xbox games you can get for PC not like MS pushes out exclusives these days.
@@geotechlb not like they have any proper ones other than halo(dead) and fora(only good one).
I love your honesty and enthusiasm for gaming.
7:00 ps4 fanboys be like “best AI ever!”
" super fast 30fps " 10/10
No one has said that stop being childish
Bought a p4 two months ago for this. Been really pumped and it ended up being great. Slight bugs are dealable with, and I’m glad you enjoyed it too Mac
Excellent and fair review as always Mack
Thank you for your impressions about it, Mack! Greetings from Brazil!
Mac loving a 3rd person PS4 open world exclusive O_O 2020 has indeed been a crazy time heh. My friend is also singing this game praises for what it gets right. Always loved Ninja and Samurai games so I'll get this soon.
Actually perfect review Mack Jeeze your good lol. I shared this to the group on FB, hope you don’t mind. It’s just your the only reviewer out there that is honest good or bad and this was just perfect from a guy that is very tough on games in a very good way.
I don't think you should ever buy a game based on one reviewer. Personally I can suggest you 2 reviewers if u like mack , angry Joe and skillful
Aksam Rafiz I’ve been playing the game since release lol I didn’t need his review and I’ve been with this channel for a while. The other 2 are very good but they ain’t Mack. Some people do buy off review so that’s why I wanted to share because people do like other people’s opinions to base purchases off of.
I absolutely respect and thank Sucker Punch for creating such a beautiful game and the chance to immerse yourself as either a samurai or assassin, with that said I am very happy that they chose the setting and theme of Feudal Japan. I have not played the game yet due to financial reasons, but am watching streamers on twitch who are playing it and at first glance and further inspection here are my thoughts:
- Being into Samurai culture and watching many old school Japanese Samurai films, I wanted something a little more hardcore (Who knows maybe the difficulty will spice things up to my liking), what I am referring to are a few points:
*The stealth, I have enjoyed many stealth games, sneaking up on enemies with back turns to get that quiet clean kill, however with this game I expected more, I don't find it believable that enemies could be so un-vigilant, like have a few enemies that are more vigilant and perceptive than some other grunts. I guess I wanted something more close to human; AI randomly turning and moving their heads, turning around randomly, looking down and up, heck even scratching their armpits or back! etc. (kind of like what they did with the Last of Us 2 AI's)
*A fresh clean start, I wanted an almost hardcore Samurai progression, this one is great don't get me wrong, what I was looking for was starting off as a youngster from the ground up, training in dojos getting your ass whopped by your partner with bokkens, and eventually developing your style depending on the area or region you are born into, chain and sickle, bo staff, spear, dual wielding (Niten Ichi-Ryu, the famous style of Musashi Miyamoto), etc.
Great review Mac, I'm loving this game too
