Everyone has their desires. All I want is the FTR motor (with 130hp) in a Scout chassis, no bags, or other junk. Just the scout the way it is now but with 130 hp.
I was a 2017 Victory Octane owner. After a front and rear suspension upgrade, airbox, 2-1 Two Brothers exhaust and a dyno tune by Ryland at the Vic Shop this bike was very strong and a blast to ride. Upgrades needed for the new Scout: A really good suspension upgrade, fuel capacity of 4+ gallons , electronics with cruise control while maintaining a under 30" seat height. My Octane was a real runner with 105 HP at the rear wheel and 86 ft. lbs. of grunt. I would like to own one similar to my Victory with the added features.
I have owned the Scout and Octane, The Scout was OK but the Octane was much faster and exciting... just bring back that style of bike with a more performance tune... Wish I kept the Octane....
That's very interesting: I've been looking at the Scouts - I compare it to my 2006 Yamaha Warrior: It also has a small 3.3 gallon fuel tank, 200/50/17 rear tire, 1700 tons of torque motor, Vance&Hines exhaust and power commander, the front R1 type inverted forks, double piston double rotors on the front, yes it's only a 5 speed, but I bought it for only 3500 with 9k miles....I am pondering if it's worth upgrading to this new Scout when my Warrior is such a blast to ride. It's an interesting comparison because the Warrior was similar to the old Octanes and now the Scouts.
I agree with and really appreciate all of your comments and predictions. I’m waiting on Indian to put the Power Plus engine in both a Springfield and (desperately needed updated) Chieftain model.
I already have a H-D Bagger and recently purchased my first Indian (2022 Scout Bobber Icon ABS) back in May. I purchased the Scout Bobber for three main reasons; 1) I wanted something smaller to scoot around town on. 2) The Scout Bobber Icon (Matte Blue/black) was beautiful. 3) I wanted to teach my boy how to ride. (He wanted to learn on my bagger and the Scout Bobber not only looks good, it’s a great starter bike). Plus, I’m not letting him learn how to ride on my bagger. I would love to see the ride command and better suspension on my Scout Bobber. But if I want a better ride, I’ll jump back on my bagger. Bobbers are just that, simple cool looking badass rides. I wouldn’t trade my Indian Scout Bobber Icon with a #1901 VIN unless Indian make me one heck of a deal for it.
I would be very interested in a mini bagger version of the scout. Something similar to the Honda Rebel 1100. Since I'm only 5'6" a full size bagger bike is a little too big for me. But an Indian scout bagger would be awesome!!!
Price is a major selling point for the Scout line so they have to keep that in mind with design. I just picked up a Rogue and the main reason was the price point for such a great bike (minus the stock rear shocks that I changed). If they do all these things and price goes up people will likely just opt for the Chief instead.
I also owned a 2017 victory octane. Just like my man @donaldmiller. Now I own a 2022 Indian Scout Rogue. I'm loving the optimistic nature of this video but highly doubtful that any of it is coming for our beautiful scouts. I hope someone from India motorcycle is watching and can make your prediction come true or give us some features to upgrade our existing bikes. I have my fingers crossed🤞 for a cruise control.
I think the Scout is perfect the way it is. Even the 60 has enough power. I hope it’s an improvement and it doesn’t go the opposite way. A lot of people went scout when they discontinued the iron and 48.
Look for a 750 to 850 parallel twin. Multiple manufacturers have went to this platform with a 270 degree crank for that familiar V twin sound. These platforms easily make 100 plus HP and are simplistic in their architecture to mass produce.
I'm definitely hoping for the Scout line to get the touchscreen. Really want a fuel gauge and cruise control. Haven't bought my first bike yet, but I've been thinking about a Chief Dark Horse. But if they can add those things for the Scout, I might pick one up pretty soon instead of waiting til I can afford the pretty pricy Chief DH. There are other things I like about the Chief, but as my first bike, I might go for the Scout if they simply had those things I mentioned. As it stands, I can't see myself getting a Scout.
I'm exactly in the same boat as you!! Fingers crossed those features are there in the new updated Scout. I nearly decided on ordering a Sportster S just because of the features!
@@jimothybikael I'm hoping that the reason they've been offering cheaper bikes lately is because they're changing things up for next year's bike lineup. I'm hoping for the Scout to get a bit of an overhaul next year so I'm not being too hasty on being sold one any bike in particular
Good show great foresight. I think you're right as rain with changes coming. What I'd like to see is a Dual Sport Bike that'll run Hiway speed and have plenty off road riding capabilities. Like maybe a 500-900 cc engine base on the Indian FTR, with a 5 speed transmission that has a Hi-Low ratio transmission w/shifter, Hi for the Hiways. Low for the Off Road, Mountain Trails, Outback Riding, Trail Blazingest Motorcycle that you'll ever see during our life-time. I had a 1993 KLX 650 which is a Dual Sport bike it was great riding down the Hiways, Good on back roads, but wasn't that good for the trails, it had the power, but the gear ratio was just a little to high for the mountain trails, (spin-out was the biggest problem) to much power for the trails, but just right for the Hiways. That's were the low range trans would come in. Giving the rider a Hill-Climber with the ability to ride it like a trials bike on a tight corner trail. I can imagine this bike being a lot lighter than any others on the market today(cc Engine wise) that's where the Great handling come into play. I could go on with this for hours, but I think I said enough for now. What do you think, about a Strong Dual Sport Bike, like no other? Maybe a good name for it "Crazy Horse", LOL.
The idea that a 2024 model would arrive without a gas gauge would be completely mind numbing in my opinion. Guessing it will get a scaled down version of the chief display plus keyfob start with mild adjustments to engine design.
You are right in line with me on a touring/ bagger model of the scout .. we basically built the wife's that way bags windshield luggage rack .. And as I get older, pushing 70 a lighter touring bike or trike is in the future
Nope on the displacement without a new chassis (the trend on displacement is for handling and throwabout-ability). Agree on the electronics. Agree on sport scout. The touring accessories currently available don't sell, so I doubt a mini bagger.
Same. The Scout already looks gorgeous and if it has a digital display like the Sportster S (along with the long overdue fuel gauge and may be even cruise control) the scout will be #1 in my book
Indian hasn't released any of their new products for 2024 yet, so I still hold out some hope, but they certainly haven't started the year with what I was hoping to see.
Do you still expect a new Scout being released in 2024? A digital Display would be nice but I do prefer the interface of HDˋs better than Indian‘s digital Display
What great news, I hope it comes true. I have a scout bobber and I have been dreaming of a fuel gauge since the beginning. If they eventually put it in the 2024 models, I hope it can be adapted to the old models. It would make me very happy because it is the only thing that bothers me about my scout. And if I can put the cruise control on it I can also die in peace XD Thanks a lot.
One can only hope they offer cruise control. I know it’s stupid but that is why I didn’t purchase a scout, even though I love the bike. I like your thinking on a mini bagger. I would buy one tomorrow.. well if it has cruise 😂
Not everyone wants, needs, or can afford a 900 LB 'Moby Bike.' Unfortunately, there is an 'understanding' in the cruiser world that Big Twins are for touring, and smaller displacement machines are for... bar hopping. I've owned well over two dozen bikes in my life, from a Suzuki GN400 to Triumph's Rocket III, yet three of my last four bikes have been Scouts and at this point I can't imagine owning anything else. They have become my favorite bikes to tour on and are light enough to allow me to explore dirt/gravel roads I'd be hesitant to take a larger machine down. Yet, with a few additions, the Scout could be vastly improved without changing the do-it-all nature of these machines and/or, pricing them too deeply into Chief territory: 1.) A larger gas tank. I always carry extra gas, but even a .75 gallon increase would help a ton for those of us who like to put on the miles without having to stop too frequently. A slight widening of the existing tank would likely get us there without drastically changing the bike's existing profile. 2.) Better suspension. Slap on the existing Fox rear shock upgrade and add some basic adjustability to the front fork. Power and electronic upgrades are awesome, but as the miles start to add up, a smoother, more compliant ride would pay the most dividends. That's it. Cruise control would be great, as would the Chief's Ride Command package, locking hard bags, a well-engineered windshield, ETC., but I'd settle for more range and a better ride in order to keep the bike as price sensitive as possible. PS: I am a HUGE proponent of the Scout '1920 Solo Seat' option, and heartily recommend it, especially for larger riders. I have employed this seat on all three of my Scouts and simply put, it absolutely transforms the ride. Not only does it support your entire backside, thereby eliminating any hot spots, but it opens up that crucial 'rider triangle' so that your hips remain positioned above your knees.
Indian needs to bid farewell to LCD displays in all their gauges. It’s like having a Palm Pilot in a room full of iPhones. Their ECM software is also super glitchy.
It would be cool (and consistent in a kind of neo-retro way) to call the sport the Scout Octane. Embrace the Polaris 'heritage' in a surprising way and underscore the Scout's roots.
I disagree with more power. The new sportster is classified as a hybrid cruiser sport bike. The scout should not follow this twisted evolution. The current scout is already the most powerful in its class if you agree that the sportster is more of a sport bike.
You lost me when scout compared to sporster s. 😀 its a competitor for FTR, not a scout. So yes maybe some street bike will be released or so, maybe lcd displays will appear on scout or some minor updates( fuel gauge, cruise control ect)...or maybe new line will be introduced, but according to you scout should became ftr. Makes no sense. I wouldn't be surprised if something in 600cc or so will be annouced. Atleast for markets outside US. since elwhere harley doenst mean anything for years, honda does
I disagree. Indian's newest, biggest, and most powerful touring bike, the Pursuit, only has a 108. Yet most of their other bikes come with 111 or 116. Chevrolet puts a 2.7L 4 cylinder in their full size pickup truck... that one is a bit extreme but they do it. (310 hp, 430 lb-ft)
To be honest people would prefer customization option than defaults. If someone likes defaults then go for it but if someone want this not that and if it comes within the budget deliver if from factory.
You didnt mention the GLARING fault with current Scouts,..total crap rear suspension,..only a small step up from riding a hardtail. its why I sold mine even after putting top of the line AM shocks on. Id still way prefer the ride on say a stock HD Sportglide. I dont know how they have gotten away with this serious fault in the Scout
If Indian wants me to buy a Scout, they need to shrink the size of that awful radiator, which is one of the few things that’s kept me from buying one over the years.

100% agree with every point! And Indian…
FUEL GUAGE!!! Its like a seriously old subject at this point. Make it happen or quit producing Scouts!

4 gall or larger even better, in Australia fuel stops are far apart in the outback
Big piston upside down forks, dual caliper brakes, cantilever rear suspension swin-garm, 4.5-5 gal tank (18L), heeded gwips an' seat, kruze kontrol, mid-controls, fuel gauge, quick shift, single-row slim LED lightbar. .

Indian do need to upgrade the Scout range and target the younger riders with a smaller model🤞 2014?
Im gonna wait til 24 to get a rogue. But if theres no upgrades or AT LEAST a fuel guage im just gonna get a cheif sport or bobber and call it a day..
