- Yes,, I said “he”. I don’t think there’s enough money in the world to get me to mess with that!!!! We can prob handle that 6.4 tho!!! If there was going to be a swap truck,, this one is clean enough!!!! I made a final call before starting the job to make sure he wants to do this cause I wanted to buy it to save her!!!!! Lol
This truck was bought by Ben,, he is the owner of Wicked Bumpers,,, Look em up!!!! (816)548-6970
www.sdutys.com
If he wants to get it running again, for the least amount of headache and money's, you two plus the crew are the best bet hands down to get that 6.4 running again in my opinion!!!!!
Swaps are cool and all, but trouble is it's always going to be a custom job and custom means $$$$.
As long as he is the one that does ALL the work,,, forever,,, I love it!!!
I would bet the vast majority of the "swap a cummins" crowd have never done it themselves nor have any idea that a 6'4 can be made reliable.
You would be the only person on the planet that knows how to make a 6.4 “reliable”
Please, save that 6.4L. As you know, with the right (meticulous) ownership/care after the most critical "weight reduction" of the factory designed, self destructive components, that truck will be a dependable, top performer. If you don't mind my asking, where are you, and about how much would you charge the owner to rebuild, and reinstall the 6.4L? Thanks from east/central AZ.
No keep the 6.4 Cummins swap will cost the same in the end for less power 😂
Cummins is the way to go…..6.4’s and junk……
Putting a Cummins in a Powerstroke is the way to go
We were trying very hard to only use scrap to block up that engine. I wanted to use NOTHING that I would ever want back!!!
LMAO in that case, you should have just used about 2 cans of expanding spray foam sealant for construction, and just sprayer it all in the bottom of the box and made the skid steer hold the engine in place for 5 mins until the foam set up 😁🤭
Not a fan of the 6.4. In truth, I wouldn't even look at a 6.4. That noted, you have a running engine. First estimate looks like cracked piston. That 6.4 is rebuildable but I would do the swap. It's expensive but more reliable in the end.
Not hardly, no one is going to work on your frankenswap when it inevitably goes down in bfe
Genuine question, I get that the 6.4 can be made "reliable" and that when done right, can put out a very respectable amount of power even in todays standards. But from an investment and business standpoint, why would you? Sure I can go buy a $10k 6.4 and put $15k into a new engine and the proper modifactions to go along and then baby it for ever to make it mildly reliable. And then it will still just be a $10k, 15 year old truck that I have $30k in, to still only be half as reliable as a 6.7 powerstroke or cummins. I do not get why people are trying to save these, its not like they are square body chevys or something actually worth putting money into. As someone who owns a dirt leveling and landscaping company, people like me don't have time for meticulous. My deleted and tuned 6.7 cummins is now at 175k with only ever having maintenance and an oil pan leak at 150k, and I run the dog shit out of that thing, pulling 15k+ pounds 5 days a week for 6 years straight now. You can't just hop in a 6.4 and do that. And I paid $28k for it, about what it costs to make a 6.4 mildly relaible, at least for a couple years haha. Literally go buy any other diesel, like anything else, and you will be much better off.
How many transmissions have u gone thru 😂😂😂
To anyone saying swap it, unless you are an extremely competent technician who plans on working on it yourself for the rest of time, forget about it.
The reality is you will have spent more time and money cobling together a far less reliable chassis. There's a lot more that goes into reliability than a trucks rotating assembly.
When your monstrosity develops a parasitic draw, a no crank you don't even know where to start, or one of any other predictable electrical or driveability failures on an aging chassis; Professional shops will not touch your Frankenstein swap with a 10 foot pole and your internet certified swap is now a very expensive lawn ornament.
I will refer customers to this comment!!! I would laugh them out of the shop if that Frankenstein mess comes in the shop. I'd pop the hood,, that's prob about it tho!!!
Better off building a 6.0 to go back in its place with some twins
I’d swap that to a Cummins or do a CAT swap like Deboss garage did to the OBS Ford
cummins all the way cat is too expensive to work on.
IF THEY THAT DUMB TAKING THE CAB OFF IM AFRAID HOW THE ENGINE GOING TO COME OUT..😅😅😅
If who is that dumb???? Are you saying taking the cab off a 6.4 to get the engine out is a "dumb" thing???
cracked piston?
Possibly,,, or just huge cylinder clearance!!!
Lmm swap it
What scanner is that Anthony? At about 2:40
It is called launch. Don has a couple of them and they are fairly capable.
Cummins swap!!
REALLY???? your killin me brother!!! lol How you feeling about taking the spotlight on here for a bit??? We are getting close to pulling her in!!!! I'm excited and scared to see what all survived.
6.7 cummins swap 😄
Cummins
Swap....
Best thing you can do to repair a 6.4 is to order a short block from Ford. DO NOT TUNE IT.
You are CRAZY!!!!! I disagree. If I wanted to spend time looking up all of the videos I have on ford reman engines,, nobody would agree with buying one!!!
Ur older videos were better
Go back in time and watch those then!!! How do you measure "better"?
how u would go threw the diagnostic procedures more in depth was better... have a good 1 tho
