  • Our yard tractor is a workhorse performing many tasks around here, including pulling carts, aerators, and sprayers. Until now, connecting them to the tractor was a pain. Not anymore with these great solutions from GVPower.com!

We recently found these great speed hitch pins for our yard tractor. The tractor does a lot of work around here and is used to pull a variety of devices that make our lives in the yardscape much easier and more productive. But, when it came to hitching up an aerator, yard cart, sprayer, or yard sweeper, it was a pain.
Standard hitch pins work, but they are finicky. Do you put the pin in from the top or bottom? Depending on what you do, it is easier or more difficult to put the securement clip through the hole in the hitch pin. The pin can be hard to place or remove as well and is easily misplaced.
The solutions from GVPower.com take care of all that.
The GV155 Auto Lock™ model uses a super-strong magnet at the top of the pin and under the handle to hold the unit in place. It holds very well, and the pin won’t back out. It is placed in from the top (easy!), holds tight, but can be removed with a simple tug.
The GV150 King Pin™ quick connect pin has a pair of retractable ears at the bottom of the shaft that is actuated by squeezing a trigger inside the top handle. The ears retract when the trigger is squeezed, and remain open when the trigger is released. Again, the pin is placed in from the top and the trigger is squeezed as the pin is inserted. Once in place, the trigger is released, and the pin stays firmly in place.
    BRILLIANT!
We don’t get paid for these products. When we find a great solution, we like to let you know about it!

Those have a nice long pin. A few years ago I bought a John Deere magnetic hitch pin and the pin is too short for my sweeper. One trick I learned when I would use a hitch pin with a hairpin clip is to insert the hitch pin upside down so that I could easily insert the hairpin clip without having to look underneath the machine.

The one concern I have with the KingPin is that it rides very close to the ground and could easily get dirt in it and clog the mechanism. For me, I'd go with the magnet.

Good insight. Some hitch plates ride higher, so it wouldn't be as much of an issue. The magnet works really well.

Have used both for some time. The king pin gets dirty and rusty over time and quits working. Like the magnet much better. With tension on it - never has come out when not wanted.

We never used locking pins, even with full sized farm tractors.

Gentleman, i just use a 3 inch spacer, and piece of pipe even plastic will work to keep the pin with the ears away from the ground.

King pin is garbage doesn't last. May try magnetic version. Another You Tuber, can't remember who, showed putting a bolt &nut facing up ,2 lg. fender washers, hole drilled at end of bolt threads with a hair pin through it.

The KingPin does not work. Dirt and debris will get in the ears which makes the pin very difficult to remove. I will try the magnetic pin, but I worry that with it hanging close to the ground, a good bump could remove the magnet's hold.

A simple pin with a thread is cheaper and more useful

The problem is you still have that clunky clevis on the tongue. I’m going to put a real 2” trailer coupler on my JD yard cart.
