I have lived in Cambodia for seven years and have a Cambodian family that I spend most of my time with. I loved watching this. I tip my hat to you for the knowledge you have and the level of respect you have for the culture.

Thank you! I want to be as good a guest as I can. Especially if I'm going to spend the rest of my life there!

Thank you for the video. Almost all those rules also apply in Thailand, Laos and other countries. I spent four months in Chiang Mai, Thailand and the surrounding mountains. And then during a second trip, I spent two months in Siem Reap, Cambodia, followed by a few days in Bangkok.
Truly an amazing part of the world. I’m a 72 year old Canadian, and hope to return to Cambodia soon to live my last years there. A few years ago….I went for Refuge in the Triple Gem, and accepted the Five Precepts…at a Theravada Buddhist temple with the abbot of the temple and monks. Feeling very much at home in Buddhism.

Thank you for the tips, those small details make a world of difference. But… I’m left handed, and I can’t swap my brain 😳😂

Really good information, well explained... I recently read that Cambodians who suffered under the khmer rouge regime can sometimes get distressed when they see people wearing all black clothing...The dictatorship forced the Cambodian people to dress ONLY in black. Any thoughts on this topic ? I wear mostly black clothes...even in hot countries like Sri Lanka where I am right now... I'm slowly inching closer to Cambodia and plan on picking up some colourful clothing in preparation.
I ove those strange cuddly creatures on the floor, so cool...did you buy these in Cambodia?

I did mention not to wear all black in this video for the same reason. I need to do some shopping as well for different clothes.
Those little creatures are Totoro and Catbus from the move My Neighbor Totoro. I film from Studio Ghibli who also made Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and several other great animated films. I got them from the Ghibli Museum near Tokyo.

Definately helpful, thank you. I find the Phnom Penh, where i currently live, is not overly cultural, however, on the weekend i am moving to Kampong Speu, and i think it will be much more traditional there.

That looks pretty cool! Not too far from PP if you need something not found in Kampong Speu.

I'm currently doing an essay about Cambodia cuisine and this is a lot of help. Ty, appreciate it. Btw I'm a little bit confused about how Cambodians sit people on the dining table, can you explain it to me ?

There's not really a specific way of seating. Many rural people don't have a dining table, but sit on the floor to eat. Wealthier people may have a dining room setup, but I don't know of any specific etiquette regarding it.

These are old fashioned customs som3 are carried on but moving forwa5d Khmer is looking to be more capitalist and less communist. Especially the youth population but you cam be old fashioned. People in america call it bible thumpers.

I haven't heard the term bible thumpers being used for that. We generally use it as a term for people who aggressively push Christianity onto others. Thankfully, they are not very widespread in Cambodia.
