    We have something very similar that pop up in the autumn here in the northwest u.s. we call them shaggy manes and take care not to confuse them with inky caps. I was always told not to pick them in the morning if I wanted them with dinner and I can confirm that they go off that quickly.

    such treasures! enjoyed eating these in n.e. washington, u.s. we would slice lengthwise, dip in egg then flour, and sauté in butter

    One of my favorite mushrooms, I quite literally based a whole character for one of my stories off of shaggy mane lol.

    These grow in people’s gardens in my village! We had a flush 2-3 months ago in a couple gardens.

    I think I've somehow ended up with some of these in my corriander patch.
    going to try to get the mycelium into a dedicated container if possible

    Wow, free ink for porous paper. Our daughter created a character design based on the Ink Cap mushroom. Would love to hear your thoughts. Melody (Melody Angelicus) used the Ink Cap character Art for her song Void. I would love to see if she could draw with the Ink cap Mushroom ink. Or if any other artist has used this Mushroom ink to draw with. Very interesting indeed. 🍄

    Is the black part considered inedible because it makes everything black or because it tastes bad? I was wondering if it could be used as a squid ink substitute

      @WildFoodUK1  3 роки тому +2

      I think it is used as that already

    These are really delicious mushrooms, but as the man says, get them in a pan quickly.

    Would you eat these if they were growing in composting rabbit litter?

    I would like to learn more about the ink and how you use it.

    • @WildFoodUK1
      @WildFoodUK1  4 роки тому +2

      we just use a feather quill, the ink makes itself, but it does last better if you add some sort of fixative.

    I found some thats mostly white but wish a red blush, sup with that?

    • @WildFoodUK1
      @WildFoodUK1  3 роки тому +1

      not sure. It could be a shaggy parasol as they blush a bit red.

    • @bladdnun3016

      That's perfectly normal. When they start turning into ink, they go pinkish red at the rim before going black. I'd advise to cut off the reddish parts. Definitely don't eat anything black.

    Isn't that the one that makes you sick if you drink alcohol within 48 hours of eating the mushroom? If it is, that might be an important bit of information to include in your video.

  • @TheArasmcz
    @TheArasmcz 3 роки тому

    I've read you're not supposed to mix these ones with alcohol.

      you’re thinking of common ink caps. these ones are shaggy ink caps, or shaggy mane. :)
