From the performance "A Few Friends from Radio" December 2, 2018 in New York City with guests Rob Fisher, Christine DiGiallonardo, Heather Masse, and Fred Newman
My late husband is the one who introduced me to Garrison Keillor's show. Every Sunday! The day always started with easy jazz and a great breakfast! And it always wound down listening to Mr. Keillor. Hearing his voice takes me back to our home and it warms me.
I'm in the room with my passing mother Thanks for the years of enjoyment you gave my mom and I...... I'm 48 I feel like a kid again listing to the radio with my mom
Whenever I hear the news from Lake Wobegon, I feel like I'm back in my hometown and visiting my family and neighbors. Please don't ever leave us, Garrison. In these crazy times we live in, we need your humor and soothing voice to help us keep our sanity.
So glad you're back, Garrison!! Don't let anyone keep you down. Minnesota Public Radio was so unfair in condemning you! The one and only Lake Wobegon, YES!! I've seen Garrison Keillor onstage four times now. The last performance was at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, Oregon, where he was literally onstage for the whole show, never taking a break. That was about two weeks before the shit hit the fan about his alleged sexual abuse charges. I also used to listen to his "Writers Almanac" every day, enjoyed that program, too. I couldn't believe how quickly MPR threw him under the tracks without any real conviction, just discarded him like he was nothing. Shame on you, MPR!
Yes, MPR absolutely stabbed him in the back. He gave them the world.. and they ran the entire thing into the ground.. and then tried to set him on fire. This man is Solid Gold, and undoubtedly, America's Storyteller.
In spite of that, a single voice can cause it to be silenced? Careful men, don't pat anyone on the back .....can be interpreted as.....???? so don't be too friendly.
Well now you made me cry,it just so happens to be August 2023 when I’m watching this and my name is Monique, I too am thin with dark hair. Thank you, stay well, you’re treasure 🎁
Not bad for a “tax and spend liberal” as you said a number of times. Love you Man. I started listening your first year on the radio. Hard to believe, the years roll on. Bless You GK!
I’m grateful that my dad introduced me to Keillor and the show in the 1980’s. From it I gained an appreciation of diverse music genres, politics, irony, humor, and the art of storytelling. I still love listening to the old shows that are available on the APHC website.
Mr. Keillor, seeing you come out strong despite what the media put you through, on my end it was like watching a distant uncle be slandered and exonerated. I'm all smiles to see you back at giving the world kind and human entertainment. 1 Corinthians 3:12, 13
Thanks, Mr Keillor, for your witty show, stories so well told. It was so fun and revitalizing, perfect for Saturday afternoons.. (Watching this on my phone).. :) Cheers! 😀
