Nice vid.. perfect timing.. currently thinking about dipping toe in the EV world to replace our clubman MCS and the I3S is the top of the list as it needs to be something a bit different.. told the missus it will need the ACS pack put on it though, so Dan you will be getting a call from me one day in the next few months when i have found the perfect spec.. A Gold ACS would look pretttty sweeet i imagine
I know the EV world does get a bit of flak BUT I’m genuinely very happy with our i3s. The only thing is ours doesn’t have the larger bag screen (chip shortage when being built)! No problem, ready when you are! Think you’re right, full ACS on the Galvanic Gold would be mega!
Love the cars, both really have their own character. You've done a great job with each one. A golden ACS version would be my choice. That color looks just fantastic.
“Gives me the fizz!” Haha! Like it! I really like the gold - the subtlety of just the springs and spacers is all it needs in my opinion. I think the black wheels also look better too, with the rest of the black bonnet/roof/etc, and make it look meaner and lower than it would otherwise look. The ACS stickers though? Chefs kiss! Perfection!
I followed and bought the springs from you guys and mirrors from you, added the dampers and agree, the maxton is mych more subtle, just ordered! By the way, do you know if the chrome strip on the boot is stuck on with glue? I want to vinyl wrap that and the kidney grill. Any advice would be good.
Awesome, that’s for your purchases 😀 Maxton for certain is quite a cost effective option and looks great on these cars. Sadly don’t know about the chrome strip however. One on the list to do as well!
Also… on the video itself. Really helpful to have the side by side. The width of the back spacers comparison is exactly what I needed. I think I’ll get the ‘Goldilocks option’ of 15mm rear (not 16, not 12, but just right…)
Of the two, I prefer the ACS car. That said, the budget build on my i3s is Maxton Design front splitter, ACS knockoff rear wing (almost identical), M style mirror caps, and some Chinese rear "diffuser" that actually looks and fits great. All gloss black. Daily Los Angeles driver so I haven't fiddled with springs/spacers as I like my ground clearance!
The ACS i3 does look more purposeful with the front splitter for sure. As you’ve said however, you can make these cars look great on a more sensible budget.
Hi, great video. I’m contemplating buying my i3s at the end of the lease . Do you know of a good i3 specialist for repairs etc . I don’t want to pay bmw main dealer prices .
I guess it comes down to the sort of repair you’re looking at. I know main dealers can be expensive but with the complexity and potential danger of working with EVs then it’s probably best it’s done by them. If it’s just servicing requirements (Minimal on EVs) then any independent should be good! We just serviced our i3s last week and all it needed was a pollen filter and brake fluid change!
@@Carbonwurks Thanks. Have to say the i3s is an incredible car. I’ve had some great cars over the years but I never got attached to them. I really feel like I want to keep this car forever.
I believe they are just car sales and not an independent repairer so to speak. Their website links straight to autotrader. That said, they do have some great UA-cam content!
Both cars look amazing. For the spoiler, for my impression the AC Schnitzer part is a little bit too much. I am wondering if these things are for the good look only or if they improve aerodynamics. The colors of both cars are great as well. Unfortunately mine is black/white only because I was too stingy which never will happen again :)
Thanks for the comment! The ACS part is an acquired taste but does look cool in person. For sure it will help with gaining some frontal load/downforce but not something you’d notice on this type of car 😀
Dan, interested what you, as a pro race driver, make of electric power? I get it's instant power and torque. But does it feel as a driver? Is it good as a daily only or as a toy? I obviously understand we don't have the infrastructure at all yet. Seen a few of these and taycans in my neck of the woods. Like the AC splitter and spoiler. Prefer the rest of the CW! Sorry long question. 😅
So I’ve owned a Tesla Model 3 Performance before which in its own right was a much faster car than the i3S but with all electric cars (including Taycans), there is more to it than just instant power and torque. You can still have fun in them but they don’t give the same level of engagement as a faithful petrol engined car. So in short, you can still enjoy yourself (in a straight line and through corners) but the car doesn’t egg you on. You tend to drive electric cars in a different way and they become just very good daily drivers with a very easy and relaxed driving experience. Electric cars absolutely have their place and are still enjoyable, but in my opinion only work financially if you can mostly charge at home with cheap charging rates. Front splitter on the i3 looks mega, maybe one in future to go on mine 😬
Can you give me the frame number of the i3s? Because I am in China, I want to order the fenders of the i3s, but the staff who helps me order the accessories told me: "I need the frame number of the i3s, I am afraid of ordering the wrong goods."

Thanks! We’re really considering some ACS parts on our one, especially the front splitter!

Yeah we wanted to try and showcase that part as much as possible!

Thanks very much! If you had to choose one, which would it be?

@GoogleAccount-vn8mu Think it’s a keeper for us also! Just such a good all round daily.
The i3 specialist’s to go to are Wisely Automotive in London. I believe that they have sold over 500 examples. Worth watching their UA-cam clips.

Sorry, we wouldn’t be able to help out with that one. I’d suggest finding a similar car where you are to obtain that information.

The ACS car looks as if the front tint is UK Illegal.
I think the lighting is likely making it seem like that. In person, didn’t even notice it had any!
Two examples of how to ruin a perfect design.
Fortunately, a lot of people (ourselves included) would disagree 😀👍🏻
Yup, these mods look amazing. Love both.
