FOX Knives Bushman FX-609 Outdoor testing!!! LIKE, SHARE, and SUBSCRIBE! #foxknives #edc #outdoors #camping #bushcraft
The Bushman is a robust outdoor and bushcraft knife with a wide D2 steel blade. Stability is created by the double-beveled grind, reminiscent of a modified Scandi, which means that the knife can handle tougher tasks as well. The modular leather sheath can be worn vertically or horizontally in a variety of positions. Texture-milled handle scales of canvas Micarta offer a secure grip, even in wet or cold conditions.
    D2 Tool Steel
With a chromium content of 12%, D2 - a tool steel - can certainly be classified as a stainless steel. Since its chromium content is right on the threshold, however, a little more care for the D2 wouldn't go amiss. As an upper-tier conventional steel, D2 offers great edge retention and stability, though sharpening it takes a little effort.
    Micarta
Micarta is a composite material used to make knife handles. It is based on fibers and epoxy resin. Micarta is sturdy and lightweight, which makes it a popular material not just for exclusive knife handles but also for a variety of high-tech applications.
The fiber/plastic composite known today as Micarta was developed in 1910 by the American engineer George Westinghouse. Micarta is the original brand name given to the material by its US producer General Electric. Today, Micarta is a common term for similar fiber/plastic composites made by several manufacturers.
All of these composite materials have in common that they consist of at least two different base materials which are bonded together but retain their own structure. Therefore, composite materials combine the different properties of their base materials. They are usually developed to offer all the advantages of comparable conventional materials at a much lighter weight. That is why they are mainly used in high-tech applications where weight reduction is a priority (e.g. in aircraft or vehicle construction) but also where the use of light materials makes for easy and pleasant handling, e.g. in the production of high-quality knives.
Micarta has all the usual characteristics of composite materials. It is a combination of absorptive fibers (e.g. wood, linen or cellulose) and a synthetic resin (mainly epoxy or phenol resin). To make Micarta, the fibers are saturated with resin. When the resin is cured, the composite material can be processed, usually by grinding or sanding. Micarta is extremely dense and resilient. It also offers a high level of dimensional stability, which means that it retains its measurements even under changing environmental conditions, such as varying temperatures or humidity levels. Micarta is pleasant to the touch and offers a firm, comfortable grip. Like all other composite materials, it is very light compared to metals.

Bella e competente recensione, dove vengono evidenziate le caratteristiche che un coltello da bushcraft e non solo, deve avere: semplicità ed efficacia. Fox, è un bell'esempio del made in Italy. 😊

Fantastic knife. Don't ever let anyone tell you d2 is bad, if it's heat treaded right it's really a fantastic knife steel and holds a great edge. Now days everyone thinks of the Chinese d2 which 90% are lying about it being d2. I actually love a good D2 blade. Great job Gruggs. 👏

WOW. Fox must have black magic heat treatment. I am surprised they got that D2 steel like super steel. Nice. I had a question but you answered it when you said it wasn't LT Wright sharp, but I would say that this Fox knife well worth the money. I hate to say this, but if I had to buy a knife at that price between a ESEE and FOX, this video convinced me the FOX is the way to go. And that sheath...it does actually look like what a Roman soldier would wear. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HONOR OF THE LEGION FIRE. I am truly honored. I am definitely sharing this video.....How can I not? :-)

Love the looks of this blade! Gerber fast 06 tanto and a penlight. Love the sheath and how it can be set up various ways. Most leather sheaths don't have that. It bites well for a knife that size. Impressive that it withstood that 2nd log splitting! Strong tip! Nice curls. Great knife. Really nice review Gruggs.

Nice to see a proper test video of this knife. Very rare at least a video in English of this knife. I have this knife but never tested it like this. Happy to see what it can take. I love the handle and lively feel of the knife. It's a big knife but feels very lightweight. I wonder if its milled out under the scales?

@@LegionTacticoolCutlery they make the knife look similar to a convex grind. The grind is so short. Makes me wonder why the rest of the knife is so tall. What's the purpose? Is it esthetics? The knife does look good. To me, it would be more worth the price if it had a taller convex grind.
